You should cut your hair." Laura said as she ran a hand through Harry's hair.
"Why?" Harry frowned as he continued reading his book. Harry was sat against Laura's bed and reading while Laura was sat on the bed and reading.
"It's getting a bit long." She said, Harry's hair was now about shoulder length and looked messier than ever before.
"So?"
"Ororo can cut it for you if you want." Laura said, while Ororo usually insisted that she be called Miss Munroe, she did seem to make an exception for Laura and Harry, though she made it very clear that they were not to call her by her first name in front of other people. "I think you would look nice with shorter hair." She added.
"I'll think about it." Harry said after a few moments. "What about you?" Harry said as he looked at Laura's shoulder length hair.
"Boys have short hair and girls have long hair, Harry." Laura said in a way that made it sound like she thought he was being especially dense. "Besides, Ororo and Grandpa said I look pretty with long hair." She smiled happily.
"That's nice." Harry said with a small smile, when they had first come to the institute Harry's biggest concern was what would happen to his sister. When they decided to stay, Harry's biggest worry turned into 'what if they hurt Laura?'. Harry could admit that he was still not totally comfortable with everyone around the institute but he had pretty much deemed Ororo to be 'safe' as far as his sister was concerned. The two got along like a house on fire, he could tell that his sister got along with Ororo a lot.
Harry personally thought that he took more after his grandfather, but Harry also liked Ororo, he found that she was fun when she was not acting all serious all the time. She was nice to him and Laura, so was Logan and the others. Even a deaf and blind person could see that living here was better than living with the Dursley's, if Harry had to be honest he would really like to see the Dursley's again. He really would.
He only wants to say 'hi' to them, funnily enough so do his claws.
Harry was in the garden, going through Aunt Petunia's flowers. Harry really did not know why he was the one who had to do the gardening, he did not like the garden, he did not like her flowers and he didn't like her! If the bitch was so bloody worried about her flower bed and her gardens then she should look after them herself or at least give him less chores so he can look after them properly.
"Harry!" Harry's ears picked up on a call, his body stiffened as he recognized the voice, it was Laura's. Harry's eyes narrowed as a growl escaped him before he could stop it, spit shot out of his mouth when he growled and landed onto Aunt Petunia's prized flowers but he didn't care. Harry got up and ran to the front yard where he saw Laura. Laura was lying on her back, propped up on her elbows with mud on her face and clothes.
"Your brother isn't going to help you, freak." Dudley laughed as he and his friends stood around her and began laughing. Harry growled and walked towards them. Laura wiped the mud off her face and was about to reply when she saw Harry storming towards them, the boys hadn't noticed him yet but she had, a small smile came onto her face when she did.
"Why is she smiling?" One of Dudley's friends asked.
"I don't know, she's dumb, isn't she?" Dudley said in a dismissive voice, before he kicked her hard in the stomach. Laura hissed in pain and pushed his leg away. "Oh look, she thinks she can do something." Dudley laughed, he opened his mouth and was about to say more but was interrupted by a hand on his shoulder.
Dudley found himself forced to turn around, as soon as Dudley had turned he had seen a fist coming towards him. Before he could blink the fist had connected with his face, ripples went along his flabby skin just as his teeth were harshly forced out of his gums. His spit and blood flew out of his mouth as he fell onto the floor, by the time he had landed he had five less teeth in his mouth. Once he had landed his friends looked at him, blood was pouring out his mouth and tears out of his eyes. Dudley was crying as his hands went up to his mouth to try and alleviate the pain.
Dudley's friends all looked at Harry who was staring back at them, he had blood on his fist and they were pretty sure that none of it was his. His green eyes looked at them with a burning fury.
"Go." Harry said in a low voice. Dudley's friends gulped and stepped back but they did not leave. "GO!" Harry roared at them, this spun them into action and they all nearly tripped over themselves as they ran away. Harry walked past the crying Dudley and kneeled in front of Laura. "Are you okay?" Harry whispered as he helped her up.
"I'm fine." Laura said in a quiet voice as she stood up.
"Are you sure?" Harry said as he used his cleaner hand to wipe away the mud off of her clothes.
"I'm fine." Laura repeated, her eyes landing on Dudley.
"You're crying." Harry softly noted as he saw tears dripping down her eyes.
"I...I'm..." Whatever Laura was about to say was interrupted by a loud shriek that was nearly loud enough to break glass. The brother and sister duo turned and saw their Aunt Petunia with a look of horror on her face as she looked at Dudley who was moaning and crying on the floor with blood spilling out his mouth.
"My darling boy!" The unpleasant woman screamed like a banshee as she rushed over to her son, ever single movement somehow felt over dramatic, but it was oddly in a naturally overly dramatic way that made it look she wasn't even trying to be dramatic. She quickly rushed over and kneeled at his side.
"Mummy!" Dudley cried loudly through broken teeth, splitting up blood as he did so.
"What happened to you?!" Aunt Petunia screamed as she looked him over. "My darling boy! Who did this to you?!"
"Oh no." Laura whispered in a worried voice as they both notice Uncle Vernon step out of the house door, his beady little eyes were filled with anger when he saw his wife crying over his son, his gaze moved from his wife and son and onto Harry and Laura.
By now Harry and Laura had learned how to tell their uncle's mood by looking at his face, his ugly and flabby and stupid face. If his face was slightly red then that would mean he was annoyed, if it was mostly red then that meant that he was angry, if it was red and his mustache was twitching then that meant that he was very angry. If it was the purple shade it was now then that meant he was on full rage mode.
Harry was waiting next to Ororo and Professor Xavier, Logan had gone off to go and collect Jean and the two should be arriving shortly. Waiting next to Harry was Laura who had heard about Jean from Harry and wanted to meet her. Laura had to admit that she wasn't very happy when she had first heard about Jean, it had taken several long discussions with Ororo before she was able to believe that Jean wasn't going to try and steal her brother away from her.
"Are they here yet?" Harry asked Professor Xavier.
"One moment," Professor Xavier replied before he concentrated using his powers. "they've arrived outside of the mansion, they'll be here in a minute or so."
"Hmm," Harry sniffed the air and was able to pick up on their scents. "you're right." Harry said after a few moments. Laura sniffed the air as well, while she did not recognize the new scent, she did recognize her grandfather's scent. She would assume the new scent belonged to this Jean girl. Laura was rather interested in meeting her, from the sound of it she and Harry had become friends and Harry didn't become friends with many people.
A minute or so later - as Professor Xavier had predicted - Logan and Jean had entered the mansion. Logan was holding two large suitcases which clearly belonged to Jean. Jean looked around, star struck as she looked at the expensive looking mansion. Her eyes eventually landed on the people waiting in front of her. First there was a very pretty woman with black skin and white hair, she was dressed in nice clothes and was looking at Jean with a kind and warm smile.
Jean recognized Professor Xavier, and she noticed the brown haired girl around her age, and then she noticed someone else.
"Harry!" Jean smiled as she rushed over and quickly pulled him into a hug. Harry tensed and glanced towards Ororo, giving her a questioning look, Ororo looked rather amused.
"Hug her back." Ororo mouthed. Harry hesitated slightly but did hug her back. Though he couldn't help but wonder what he had done to earn a hug.
"It's...good to see you." Harry coughed once she let go.
"You too," Jean smiled before a frown appeared on her face. "I think I will miss living with Mummy and Daddy but I'm glad I can stay here." She said, having brightened up. "Oh, is this your sister?" She asked as she looked at Laura.
"Yeah, this is Laura." Harry said as he gestured to Laura who gave Jean a small smile.
"Hi." Laura said in a nervous voice as she held her hand out.
"Hi." Jean said brightly as she shook Laura's hand. "I'm Jean, Jean Grey."
"Laura, Laura Potter." Laura replied. "It's nice to meet you."
"Thank you," Jean said once they let go of each other. "oh, Harry has told me that you have bone claws, is that true?"
"Yeah." Laura said in a shy voice as she raised her right hand and closed it into a fist, two bone claws came out of her hand. "Did he tell you about the third one?"
"The one on your feet? Yeah," Jean nodded. "they look so cool." Jean all but whispered as she looked at Laura's claws.
"Really?" Laura asked as if she was not sure if Jean was being truthful.
"Really," Jean confirmed with a nod. "did Harry tell you about my powers?"
"Uh...yeah, he said that you can move stuff with your mind and that you can read minds." Laura said. "But please don't read mine." Laura added, hoping she didn't sound rude.
"I won't." Jean replied, remembering her talks with the Professor and her parents, telling her not to read minds without permission, apparently it was rude.
"It is wonderful to have you here, Jean." Professor Xavier said with a smile. "This is Miss Munroe," He said as he gestured to Ororo. "she teaches here at this school."
"It is a pleasure to meet you." Ororo said as she shook Jean's hand. "Do you have all of your things with you?" She asked when looking at the suitcases that Logan was holding.
"Yep." Jean chirped.
"Wonderful." Ororo smiled. "Harry, Laura, perhaps you can show Jean around while Logan and I take Jean's things to her new room and make sure that it's ready for her." She suggested.
"Okay." Laura said just as Harry nodded.
"Come on." Harry said to Jean, gesturing with his head for her to follow him. Harry turned and began walking with Laura and Jean walking behind him.
"She's a rather excitable girl, isn't she?" Ororo smiled as she looked at Logan and Professor Xavier.
"She does appear to be so." Professor Xavier chuckled.
"More energy and more kids, that's exactly what this place needs." Logan said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes.
"You could do with some more energy." Ororo quipped. "You move and act like an old man sometimes."
"Says the woman with white hair." Logan shot back.
"Is this your room?" Jean asked when she, Harry and Laura arrived outside of a wooden door with the letter 'H' carved on the top half of the door and an 'L' on the bottom half.
"Yeah." Harry nodded. "I was the one who did that." Harry said as he gestured to the letters.
"Really?" Jean looked at him with wide eyes, her parents would never have let her even think about decorating her door like that.
"Yeah, I did it with this." Harry said as he raised his right hand, closed it into a fist and allowed a single metal claw to pop out. "I can do the same on your door if you want." Harry offered.
"A...are we really allowed to do that?" Jean asked as if she couldn't believe it.
"Yeah," Laura nodded. "we asked them. They said we could decorate our rooms anyway we want as long as we don't destroy anything."
"Isn't that destroyed?" Jean asked as she looked at the twin's door.
"No, that's damaged." Harry said as if it was obvious. "I asked O...Miss Munroe, and she said that it is fine since the door is still standing and is still a proper door. So...you want me to carve your door?" Harry said as he used his left hand to gesture to his claw.
"Hmm...are you sure we won't get in trouble?" Jean asked, wanting to make sure. She had just got here and didn't want to get in trouble.
"You can ask Ororo if you're not sure." Laura replied.
"Who?" Jean blinked. Harry reached over with his left hand and lightly slapped Laura on the back of her hand.
"Um...you can ask Miss Munroe." Laura quickly said.
A week later Harry woke up in the middle of the night, he looked around and saw that the time was nearly midnight. Harry yawned as he climbed out of his bed, he was really thirsty and if he wanted any chance of going to sleep then he needed to have a drink. Harry looked at Laura, she was still asleep. Harry slowly and quietly walked out of the room, taking great care to make the smallest amount of noise possible so he didn't wake her up.
Harry was able to quickly sneak down into the kitchen, a glass of milk and a few chocolate chip cookies later and he was sorted and ready to go to bed. Harry sneaked back upstairs, once again taking great care to make the smallest amount of noise possible, this time just so he didn't get caught.
"I'm sorry, Jean." Harry's ears picked up on Professor Xavier's voice once Harry reached the hallway where his room and Jean's room was located. Harry snuck up toward Jean's room, the door was open, he looked inside and saw Jean sleeping with Professor Xavier's parked next to her bed. "You may hate me for this in the future, but I am doing this for your benefit. Everything will work out." Professor Xavier finished in a quiet but confident voice.
He placed one hand on his temple and was reaching for Jean's head with the other one, the Professor's hand was a second away from touching her head when he was stopped by the sound of a growl which was followed by the sound of running. Before Professor Xavier could even turn his head around he felt a cold and metal blade pressed against the back of his neck.
Jean had always been a light sleeper, she would have woken up from her sleep if not for Professor Xavier keeping her asleep using his powers, but now his concentration had gone and with it she was allowed to wake up. Jean blinked and slowly opened her eyes, she rubbed the sleep out of it to clear her vision. When she looked forwards she jumped up to a sitting position and let out a short scream when she saw Professor Xavier frozen stiff in his chair with Harry standing behind him and he noticeably had a metal claw pressed against Professor Xavier's neck.
"What..." Harry's growled into Professor Xavier's ear. "do...you...think...that you are doing?" He said in a voice that made it clear that there had better be a good answer.
