Naruto's Perspective
I just got out of the hospital and headed to my and Sasuke's new house. We decided to live together because Sasuke is currently unstable and needs someone to talk to. Upon arriving at the house, I was amazed by it. It was already furnished with a stove and more. It was late, and I was about to go to sleep when I heard screaming coming from Sasuke's room. I immediately became alert, thinking that someone had broken in to harm someone I cared about. However, when I opened the door, I found out that Sasuke was just having a bad dream about what had occurred a few days ago. He woke up, stared at the wall, clenched his fists in anger, and said, "I will get stronger and kill Itachi." He then noticed me standing there and I asked if he was okay. Sasuke told me that he was okay, but it was obvious that he was not.
With an angry face, he asked, "Why are you not angry? He killed everyone we loved. You should be like me and want revenge, but somehow you are calm and happy." In response, I told him that I wanted to kill Itachi as much as he did, but I needed to stay calm and get stronger first. If I focused only on revenge, I would be miserable and likely die by Itachi's hand because I was driven by rage. I then left and said I was going to sleep and get ready for tomorrow.
A couple of weeks later, my alarm went off, and I started to get ready for the academy. It was going to be my first day back since the massacre. As I went outside, I saw Sasuke waiting for me, and we walked to the academy together. I felt the villagers' accusing glares, blaming me for the Uchiha clan's deaths. When we entered, the whole class stared at us as we went to pick seats. I chose to sit in the back, knowing that Sakura and Ino would fight over the seat next to Sasuke. As I predicted, Sakura ended up winning and got to sit next to him.
Iruka then entered and instructed the class to be quiet. He announced, "Today, class, we are going to be sparring against each other." We went outside and prepared for our names to be called. I was on the verge of passing out from boredom when I heard my name called. I instantly woke up and saw that I was paired against Sasuke. He looked completely serious, the opposite of his old self. Now, he was driven by revenge. I realized that I would have to humble him.
