High School, Canada - 7:30 AM
Jessica woke up in the morning, got out of bed, took a shower, brushed her teeth, and dressed. She walked downstairs to be greeted by her mom and dad.
"Good morning, honey," her mom said.
"Did you sleep well?" her dad asked.
The girl nodded and replied, "Yes, I did."
Her mom responded, "Come, dear, have breakfast."
Jessica nodded, sat at the table, had her breakfast, and then walked out of the house. At school, she was greeted by all the girls and boys. She was a popular girl, known for having the best grades, being nominated as the school counselor, excelling in sports, and being a genuinely nice person. All the students admired and cherished her.
A guy approached her, and she rushed towards him and hugged him.
"Jacob, I missed you so much," Jessica said.
"I missed you too, Jessica," Jacob replied.
Yes, Jessica and Jacob had been best friends since childhood. She had a crush on him, and he had a crush on her, though neither had confessed their feelings. Jacob was blushing intensely, overwhelmed by the hug from the person he loved most. The other boys and girls were jealous, wishing for a relationship like theirs.
Jessica suggested, "Come, let's walk into school together."
Jacob agreed, and they walked together, their hearts racing with excitement and joy. They smiled, and Jessica broke the silence.
"You know, I've been thinking. How about we go to the movies tonight?"
Jacob's heart skipped a beat. He was more excited about spending time with Jessica than the movie itself.
"Really?" Jacob asked.
"Yes," Jessica confirmed.
"I would love to," Jacob said.
As Jacob and Jessica walked into school, they were being watched by seven students: three boys and four girls. They seethed with hatred towards Jessica and Jacob. The girls hated Jessica, and the boys envied Jacob. In the school café, the seven students sat together, barely eating or drinking. Some had dark circles under their eyes from lack of sleep.
One of the girls, the leader of the group, said, "I can't believe that brat thinks the world revolves around her."
The other three girls nodded in agreement. One of the boys said, "I can't believe Jacob gets to date her. Why him? What does he have that we don't?"
The other two boys agreed. The leader then said, "We can't just stand by and watch her take everything. She's getting all the attention, and it's leaving nothing for us. She's being praised by all the teachers and students. That's not fair."
She said this with an angry expression. They all felt neglected and like they didn't belong. The girl then calmed down, thought for a moment, and her face lit up with an idea.
"I have a plan," she said. "Meet me at 9:30 on the third floor."
They all agreed and got up, except for one boy. The leader asked him to stay for a moment.
"I need to tell you something important," she said.
He stayed.
At 9:30, they were all gathered on the third floor, except for one boy. They waited for a minute until he showed up.
The leader asked, "Did you steal the keys to the school lab?"
The boy replied, "Yes."
