Chapter 16 - Little girl

Ling Wei sighed and spoke no more in order to avoid slipping out words.

"So, this is the way my wives will help me that the book mentioned," Han Jun thought to himself as he used his force to fly the old papers to himself, reading them carefully.

Shu Fang pulled herself away from Han Jun and also concentrated on the old papers.

"How come I am now three thousand years old? How could the Han family exist? I have no family or relatives; I exist alone, you know that. And this element... fire... how are you so sure that it's a talent of mine?" Han Jun asked.

Ling Wei smiled beautifully. "The Han family... you will understand later, but it's not family; it's a background for you. As for the fire element, there aren't many words on it; it's not like they want you to burn someone. All you need to do is prove to them that you cultivate the fire element, and they will guide you on other things. As for your age..." She looked at Han Jun strangely. "Do you want me to register you as ten thousand years old?"

Han Jun was dumbfounded. "Are you being serious? Can't you register a lower age?"

"Why are you asking this kind of question? Even a newborn baby's age is a hundred years old, much less you. Though you look younger than three thousand years of age, it doesn't mean that your maturity is young, dear," Shu Fang sighed and shook her head.

"A newborn baby is a hundred years old? Goodness, how does this world operate? Seems like I need to visit that school for real at least to understand this world better," Han Jun thought to himself. "I heard you; then, how about I visit the school tomorrow?" he said to the ladies.

"That's good," Ling Wei replied with a smile on her lips. "I hope some of your soul is in the academy," she prayed inwardly and looked at Han Jun, whose attention was now on the old papers.

Upstairs... no one noticed Ming Yue, who had been standing there for God knows how long; when the conversation stopped, she disappeared.

...

The next day.

Handsome Han Jun, dressed in a long white robe, was walking down the road with two beauties beside him. One was a pretty lady with green hair and eyes, dressed in a simple green dress, while the other was a golden-haired lady whose face was covered by a purple veil. She was also dressed in a simple purple dress. Though her face was covered, it was easy for someone to imagine her beauty with the charming air around her.

They walked peacefully, catching people's attention. Suddenly, a lady covered from head to toe in a huge brown blanket crossed their path, almost bumping into them.

"Husband," the lady's voice sounded in a rather questioning tone. Her uncovered face showed shock and joy. "It's really you!" She was so happy that she threw the blanket away and bounced toward Han Jun. "Where have you been all this while?" she asked in a low voice, hugging Han Jun tightly.

Seeing who the lady was, Ling Wei's mouth twitched, and she looked away in annoyance.

Shu Fang cast another glance at the red-haired lady but said nothing.

"What a surprise... I remember someone saying she can only call me husband in my dreams. Am I dreaming now?" Han Jun's cheerful voice rang out, and a low chuckle followed.

Li Na blushed hard, pulling away from Han Jun and looking at him. "I didn't mean it," she said in a low voice.

Han Jun chuckled in response.

Ling Wei's brows were tightly frowned. "Why did she appear here?" she cursed inwardly.

Li Na raised her head and looked at Shu Fang. "She is..." She glanced at Han Jun.

"My wife," Han Jun replied shamelessly.

Li Na's eyes widened as she looked at the annoyed Ling Wei. "Isn't she your wife as well?" she asked.

Han Jun nodded. "She is."

Li Na frowned and looked at Shu Fang, trying to gauge her level of cultivation.

"It's pointless trying to know; you can't detect her stage of cultivation, so how can you see mine?" Shu Fang's gentle, calm voice sounded, knowing Li Na's intentions.

Li Na was surprised and was about to speak when hoarse voices sounded from a distance. "Right, I'm looking for you!" Her happiness turned sour immediately, not bothering to investigate and question Shu Fang anymore. "Royal Father sent men to capture you. I was placed under house arrest to prevent me from finding you, but I managed to escape. It won't be anything good once you are captured," she explained in a panicked tone.

Ling Wei only gritted her teeth together but didn't speak.

Shu Fang raised her brows under the veil.

Han Jun wasn't surprised at all; he remained as calm as ever. "First, Tell me why you exposed me in front of your father," he said, folding his arms with a smile still on his lips.

"Erm… erm..." Li Na stammered. "I was merely trying to seek my father's power to look for you and to use it as an excuse to escape marriage." She ended her sentence in embarrassment.

"Your first excuse won't cause any trouble, but that second excuse of yours will surely anger your father to death and invite trouble for us. Should I say that you're dumb?" Ling Wei couldn't take it any longer and exploded angrily.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to cause trouble for him," Li Na apologized, knowing she wasn't a match for Ling Wei and this was totally her fault. She shouldn't have thought that she could escape just like that, she should have think of the disadvantages as well. "But Let's leave immediately. We will settle this later, I don't want husband to be captured." She voiced her total concern out.

"It's too late already." Shu Fang's gentle voice sounded, though it held an undetectable killing intent inside.

Right after Shu Fang's words, they were suddenly circled by men in black uniforms. Leading them were two guards in green uniforms—those selected by the King to look for Han Jun and bring him to the palace.

"Leader... it seems like that is the crimson-haired figure that His Majesty ordered to be brought back to the palace," someone commented.

"It must be him. The princess Li Na is with him, which proves that he is the one we are looking for," another person remarked.

One of the guards in green looked at Han Jun and said, "It would be an honor if you followed us back to the palace without any force involved."

"You dare speak in the presence of this princess!" Li Na stood in front, her whiper appearing in her hand. "You'd better know what's good for you and leave," she threatened.

"We're sorry, my lady, but this is the King's order," the second man in green replied. "Men! Leave the princess and apprehend the man!"

"You're seeking death!" Ling Wei's green eyes flashed purple as her nails began to grow long.

Han Jun wasn't frightened at all; he calmly observed as the men approached him on their horses.

"Heaven render... Money heralds the essence of power, an unbreakable bond forged in the fires of greed. The insatiable thirst for dominance, the tantalizing allure of riches, the magnetic pull of undeniable wealth—these desires entwine the hearts of every greedy soul," Shu Fang chanted, her voice a melodic whisper that echoed softly through the air.

As her words wove a tapestry of enchantment, the once serene blue sky transformed into a kaleidoscope of shimmering gold and vibrant jewels. A blinding, ethereal light engulfed the guards, casting them into a mesmerizing illusion of opulence and grandeur. Their senses were overwhelmed by the intoxicating scent of silver and gold, their minds entrapped by visions of endless fortune. No longer just mere reflections of desire, they were now ensnared by the seductive embrace of wealth, each heartbeat resonating with the symphony of temptation. Only the man in green uniform—the guard leader—was left conscious and aware of his surroundings.

Li Na looked at the guards, who seemed to have fallen into a trance, blinking several times in confusion. "What is happening here?" she asked.

Ling Wei's long nails slowly returned to normal, and she cast a sideways glance at Shu Fang, intrigued by the sudden turn of events.

Han Jun, unfazed, maintained his gaze on the man in green who remained on his horse, still fully aware.

"Oh," Shu Fang raised her brows in surprise. "It's rare for someone to not desire wealth; you surprise me, human," she commented.

The man in green looked at Shu Fang for a while, consideration etched across his face, before turning his horse and galloping away at high speed.

Shu Fang frowned slightly as she watched the disappearing horse, a hint of disappointment in her eyes.

Han Jun stared at Shu Fang before shifting his gaze back to the retreating figure on the horseback, his thoughts unclear, though a light frown settled on his face.

"What is going on?" Ling Wei sensed something amiss, her gaze darting back and forth between Han Jun, Shu Fang, and the man in green riding away.

Li Na, oblivious to the underlying tension, approached one of the guards, who was still smiling foolishly with his eyes closed. She investigated him for a long moment before moving on to another, one who wore an even more foolish expression. Looking back at Han Jun, she asked, "Hubby, did you do this?" Her excitement was evident.

Han Jun smiled, replying, "She did." He gestured toward Shu Fang with his eyes.

"Whoa, sister! What did you do to them?" Li Na rushed to Shu Fang's side, hugging her arm. Her eyes sparkled with admiration. "You're so powerful, sister! What skill is that? Which element is it? What stage and level are you?" she bombarded Shu Fang with questions.

"Stage three, mid-transparent cultivator, level one," Shu Fang replied softly, revealing Li Na's cultivation stage and level, subtly informing her that she wasn't fit to know more About her.

Li Na felt embarrassed; she looked less like a princess and more like a curious child. "Worry not, sister; no matter what stage of cultivation you are at, I will definitely catch up," she said. "But sister, can you show me your face? I am also..." She wanted to call Han Jun by name but remembered that she didn't know it yet. "He is my husband too," she added.

"Little girl," Ling Wei's hot voice sounded, cutting in before Shu Fang could respond. "We have somewhere important to go. You have wasted enough time already. Go back home and sleep,or warn that father of yours to not invite trouble for himself and his throne," she said, sending a threatening gaze her way.
