Chapter 1: The Village

Ama woke up to the warm rays of the sun peeking through the thatched roof of her family's hut. She stretched her arms and yawned, feeling the softness of the woven mat beneath her. Her mother, Akua, was already up, stirring a pot of fufu over the open fire.

"Ama, come help me," Akua called out, her voice gentle but firm.

Ama quickly got up and joined her mother by the fire. She learned how to make fufu from a young age, but Akua still supervised her, ensuring she got it just right.

As they worked, Ama's father, Kofi, entered the hut, his face creased from a long day of farming. "Ama, I need you to help me with the crops today," he said, his eyes twinkling with pride.

Ama nodded eagerly, feeling important. She loved working alongside her father, learning about the land and their people's traditions.

Just then, a commotion erupted outside. Shouts and screams filled the air. Ama's heart raced as she saw armed men storming into the village.

"Ama, hide!" Akua yelled, pushing her towards the back of the hut.

But it was too late. The men grabbed Ama, tearing her away from her family. She saw her parents struggling to free her, but they were overpowered.

As Ama was dragged away, she caught a glimpse of her village in chaos. Homes were burning, people were running, and the once-peaceful village was now a scene of utter destruction.
