Chapter 11 - The Scholar

(Dustin's POV)

It had been many days since that incident, The matter of crippling those sibling father has been exposed to the entire village.

It has also led to fear in the hearts of villagers, The villagers are also dissatisfied with how the village chief handled the matter, In their eyes, it was a family problem and an outsider shouldn't interfere in it.

Even some old fossils in our village also said that it was such big matter we shouldn't have tried to be involved in it.

The father was only disciplining his children are the exact words of some villagers but it wasn't like no one supported the old man.

He has lived and protected this village for years so, of course, there will be supporters for him.

Oh yeah, Today is also my birthday.

The old man had asked me several times whether I wanted to celebrate my birthday but after I rejected him he finally gave up.

But he also gave a condition that if I wanted to buy something he would buy me so if I wanted something I shouldn't have any hesitation.

People of the village from 6 years start to learn how to write and speak their language properly.

They are also taught history lessons of our content and basic common knowledge of our world.

I was very attracted to the premise of learning about the basic common sense in this world.

I mean this world is a world of fantasy with knights and magic.

I can't think of a single person who has not dreamed of being special and having superpowers when they were young.

I had really wanted to learn how to read like those super-geniuses in novels who are given second chance at life but alas our house didn't have any books to read.

Even though my old man was not educated but at least he had some basic common knowledge of this world.

Irrespective of the fact he doesn't know how to use magic or any kind of superpowers of this world.

Children from 6 years old gather to learn at the centre of the village under a big tree.

In our village as there is only one person who is well educated all of the villager's children learn under him.

I started to run towards the centre of the village at full speed, it looks I would be late but it was not my fault as our house is at the edge of the village it takes too much time to get to the centre of the village.

I quickly reached the centre of the village and was relieved that our new teacher had not arrived yet.

The children were making a lot of noise and I didn't find a place to sit near the tree so I just stood for the lesson.

The chaos was increasing but suddenly the crowd calmed down, The main character had arrived on the scene.

He looked at the entire crowd with his serene eyes and said to us all.

"My name is Euris and from today on I am going to teach you everything you should know, I don't like troublemakers in our class so if anyone dares to make trouble in my class he will not be allowed in the class forever."

It became pin-drop silence with those words and no one spoke at all but he ignored all of this and again said to the entire crowd.

"I appreciate students who crave knowledge so students who want to learn more can come to me but if I find someone trying to come to me with some other intention then I will severely punish you and let me tell you, you definitely don't want to be punished by me!"

When he spoke the words punishment it cast a chill in our hearts, An idiot who doesn't listen to his words and breaks his rule will probably suffer.

I can't be sure what he meant by being punished but it surely is not something good.

His words dismissed my intention to learn about magic from him as I have learned that in this world force is the greatest power and if he does something to me in his anger no one can actually avenge me.

I recalled everything about him to make a more clear analysis of him.

Euris is a rare name that I doubt you would find everywhere in this world.

I doubt commoners will name their children with a sophisticated name like Euris so there is a high chance he is noble.

A name might not be enough evidence but the way he carries himself and the graceful atmosphere is enough to say that even though he might not be a Nobel he has at least got Nobel training.

He had come to our village 2 years ago from the capital.

The village chief had welcomed him when he told him he was a scholar, after some days of observing the village he decided to teach the children some basic knowledge.

The villagers were excited at first thinking that it might create some chance for them to get out of the village and send their children to study so they could get some kind of job in the capital through the scholar.

But they were disappointed when the scholar refused to this snd this lead to none attending his classes.

It wasn't a surprise that no one wanted to attend his classes as in the eyes of the villagers the knowledge he taught was useless.

It was better for their children to either work to earn more money or play.

This also led to many rumours about the scholar that he was fired from his job in the capital or he is a criminal fleeing from the law.

The most interesting thing about this situation is that the scholar actually offered 3 bronze coins every month to the students studying in his class.

100 bronze coins make a silver coin, 100 silver coins make a gold coin and a gold coin could probably buy this entire village and every single person in it several times so 3 bronze coins was a huge amount for a single family.
