'When They Sleep' is an otome game that was released in 2017 by an unknown developer.
Even though there was no marketing for the game it quickly became famous among the game market but the rise of the game is as fast as its decline.
The game had excellent and high-quality graphics that did not lose to a big company production.
The game characters were attractive to its players but the primary reason for its decline is the cause how random things were in it.
The character can die in anyway and anytime in this game, It won't be wrong to say no character in this game is actually safe.
The game might be actually attractive if the deaths were logical but the developers of the game had thrown all of the logic behind and then made this game.
I mean just think if you are a player and you are going to confess your love to your favourite character after raising the love meter to the max.
But then suddenly a meteorite comes and strikes the earth and destroys everything in its path.
Or you are going to a restaurant to have dinner with your friends in the game and you suddenly discover that the food is poisoned and then you simply die.
The most unreasonable situation that happened to me while I was playing this game for my sister was that I cleared a difficult level and slept for the night but when I woke up my character died.
I mean it would be fine if the game had a save function but no if you die all of your progress and stats directly reset so you have to start from the beginning.
It would be okay if it was simply just that but when I actually tried the strategy to progress the task that I used before It didn't work anymore.
The game doesn't allow the same strategy to be used again, It's like the game is continuously changing and the characters that are in it are real but there is no way that's true?
Well, at least that is what I thought at that time.
It was even thought that the game incorporates a highly advanced Artificial Intelligence Program that is recently in development.
And it's an experiment to see how the program interacts with humans so in the name of a game it was released.
At that time I was in half doubt because it could just be a rumour but there was also a chance of it being true.
It might look like the government might suppress the news if it was true but in reality, the suppression of news many times lead to opposite reaction so the government might have decided for it to be just a rumour.
The government might have also thought that if they later admit the experiment and technology is real after denying it might just lead to distrust among the public so the best option is to neither deny nor admit it.
Well even though I say all these things in the end, it's just a theory, It might just be a simple rumor.
But why and how I came to this world is still a major question.
Is it the developer of the game who brought me here, or is it some kind of virtual reality.
These types of questions come to my mind with no answer in sight.
The lecture had been completed and I had been thinking about how to survive in this cruel world.
Yes survive as I doubt that saving this doomed world is even possible.
I started to walk faster and faster until I started to run, The sun had started to set and the atmosphere had started to become cold.
My destination this time was not my home but I had decided to get closer to the edge of the village.
I had reached the entrance of the dark forest and looked at the planks with the so-called enchantment on them.
The enchantment was made of different weird symbols which had grown blurry.
It looked like I was right it was a really dangerous situation for us.
I jogged my blurred memories about games and I remembered about the invasion of the dark races from the north after 2 years the main character had joined the academy.
The invasion might have started from our village.
Even though I still had a lot of time before the invasion and the start of different sequences that might destroy the world.
I had to become stronger so strong that no one would be able to harm me and the old man.
I remembered the fantasy system about this world, There are many ways to become stronger in this world.
If you had a large magic pool and a strong affinity with elements you could become a mage.
There are people who don't have enough affinity or magic pool generally train their bodies and refine their skills to fight and become stronger.
Magic affinity and magic pools are officially examined by official mages but people who generally have high element affinity are able to communicate with the elements in a way not possible for ordinary people.
They might feel they have a special communication with the elements for example a fire user might not get burn with fire or an individual with affinity with plants would be able to feel their emotions and talk to them.
In this world there are also special individuals that have unique and different powers out of the norm.
These powers not use magic to work, and they can be good or bad for the user, these powers are called superpowers.
The power can come from a wide range of gravity, darkness, self-injury, healing, and other weird powers like superfast which is kind of a really weird superpower.
I looked at the dark sky and thought of something important, If this world somehow is related to the game then would this work?
I opened my mouth and took a deep breath and shouted in the air.

One of the main ideas in 'When They Sleep World' was that while there was no distinct system for character levels, there were levels associated with the powers and skills.
A skill's level was indicated by "Level (Lv)," and an ability was identified by a "Star."
Although the ability in the gaming system could be theoretically upgraded to 10 stars but even entering 7th star was not possible.
It was said that no such characters had ever existed in the history of When They Sleep.
I've been playing this game for a while, but the highest stars I could unlock before quitting were 6 for strength and 4 for senses.
Only those who have received the blessings of heaven can enter the 9th star, a holy realm.
The 10 was thought to be a myth but if it existed it might be a realm of gods.
