(Euris Pov)
There was a busty crowd around me eager to make a connection to me.
I started my teaching with the history of the empire and the dangers that surrounded it.
It was obvious from their expression that the ignorant villagers didn't like my lessons.
It vexed me how they don't even teach their children about the history of the empire.
I hated how they didn't care about the empire but a part of me understood that they were busy with their mundane life.
They had to earn money to feed themself and their children.
They didn't have the luxury to aim for unrealistic dreams.
It was better for them to learn skills that would help them in earning money.
The only reason they had sent their children was to make a good impression on me.
Perhaps they thought that I would hire some of them as my assistant in the village but I had no interest in such things.
If I wanted to have an assistant I would have simply brought a slave.
I didn't have to spend any extra money on things such as wages other than the initial purchase expense.
It made me laugh that even though our empire had slavery strictly banned the nobles in the capital still engaged in slavery.
I understood that nobles have a sacred bloodline than commoners and they are higher and superior existence.
But that also meant we had to protect these lesser beings not exploit them like those pig bastards did in the capital.
I tried to ignore all these depressing thoughts but after some days fewer and fewer children started to appear.
Their parents wanted them to work and not focus on unrealistic dreams.
It's not like I don't understand them but....
After 2 years only some parents sent them to me to show their goodwill to me.
I came to class to welcome new children to teach them about history.
I looked and saw many children with expressions of happiness, fear and excitement as I told them about the dark continent and the arcane academy but there was one kid that surprised me.
He looked shocked by what I said not scared but shocked.
Why was he shocked by what I said piqued my interest but I let it go.
The excitement they had would slowly be pulled just like how fire is blown out by wind.
They would surely realize that they don't have the talent to be a part of these adventures.
It would be impossible for them to join the Arcane academy.
The requirements for the Arcane academy don't say you have to be a noble to enter it.
But it's nearly impossible for commoners to compete with the nobles who have taken elixirs, trained from an early age and share a magical lineage.
Of course, there are beings called genius in this world who like to bring miracles but the possibility of such a genius being here is zero.
The class was over...
I slumped on my bed and looked at the room.
Even though it was nothing compared to where I lived in the capital it was still luxurious as compared to the village.
The villagers might have spent a lot to build it.
Truth be told I didn't like this place or the people here but I couldn't do anything as I was banished here in the name of taking care of the barrier around the forest.
The forest that is at the edge or connected to the dark continent.
It's a good thing that at least there is no danger here as I had excelled at the study of enchantment and could reinforce the enchantments around the forest.
It was sad that this is the only thing I am good at if was better at fighting then perhaps those people wouldn't dare to mess up with me.
But I know I am not a genius.
Thinking about geniuses made me remember that young girl who is now the student council president of the Arcane Academy.
She is regarded as the greatest genius in the era but I knew that her strength is impossible for any genius to obtain.
Talent is not enough what you need is a willpower that borders on madness, a hunger for strength unlike any other.
Someone who is willing to walk on the path of hell to become the strongest.
In front of that girl, any genius is trash.
But thinking about her is useless as she is the one and only exception in this world, a true abnormality.
I stood up and started to walk from the house and prepared to go to take a look at the enchantment around the forest
It is one of my jobs that I was assigned here, every day I go there to check it.
The weather was pleasant right now it lifted my mood.
The sunlight was falling on the trees giving them a vibrant view.
I liked how the sound of cicadas made along with different butterflies flying around me.
The truth is I liked this forest more than the capital.
At least here I would not have to worry about anything or anyone.
It was peaceful here even though that I was discarded here like a piece of trash still hurt me.
I started to walk closer and closer but I suddenly smelled a metallic smell in the air.
It was the smell of blood.
I started running towards the smell worrying whether somehow the enchantment had been broken and a monster had hurt the villagers.
If the barrier had broken then it would mean all of us would die.
This village was secluded with no one coming here so if something happened here then there would be no support from the empire.
We might be left to rot and die.
I panicked as I checked the enchantment daily even though they should last for years.
It was probably my paranoia or I was too cautious but it was a good thing I was this paranoid.
After running at my top speed while gasping for air I had finally reached the location.
I found it.
A boy lying down on the ground entirely covered in blood.
