Chapter 6

I looked around curiously. Seth, Arthur and Sofia were heading towards the puppets, while Eleine was heading towards the shooting range.
Estelle..... She was waiting cross-legged in a corner of the practice field. Her blonde hair fell down both sides of her head to her chest.
I didn't quite understand what she was doing.
Was she meditating? As I examined the main characters one by one, I looked around curiously to see if there were any differences with the novel I was writing.
Sofia wielded an extremely long sword. Her fighting style was extremely violent and aggressive. Her light brown hair was in her face every time she swung her sword. The length of the sword was almost 1.5 meters.
He looked like a monster because his sword left no breathing space for the opponent when he attacked. His fast, powerful attacks plus his high mana would make him the main character's best sidekick in the future. Even though she had a 'spreader' type of mana, Sofia preferred to use a big sword instead of a staff.
I could tell she took after her father. Her father was the president and CEO of the Predators Guild, an S-level mage.
I took my gaze away from Sofia and fixed it on another female character, Eleine Sunders.
Eleine, she was an archer, she was really good at it. Out of the whole class, she was probably the only one who could accurately hit a target 500 meters away. It must have been years of work for her to be able to shoot so accurately even without using mana. With the wind-type mana she added to her arrow, every arrow she shot would fly through the air like a ballerina and hit the target dead center. Eleine's mana was of the 'emission' type.
Emission-type mages can separate their mana from their bodies for long periods of time, over long distances, and still retain it and its functions.
Because of its properties, emission is often used in abilities that emphasize range and have long-lasting effects. Key applications include firing projectiles or mana beams at high speed. While this method is primarily used for attacking, it also has different techniques for defense.
For a mage who would normally use a firearm or a bow, the emission type is very important.
The emitted mana limits the output of the user, and the more the mana leaves the user's body, the shorter the distance it can travel from the user. This is not the case for emission-type mages. Emission mages have the advantage over other types of mages in that they can focus their mana in one place and therefore can easily hit long distances.
Even as a child, Eleine was called a genius for the century.
The fact that she was the only daughter of the head of the Council was also a factor.
Arthur went to the gravity chamber alone while Seth practiced with his group.
What was I supposed to do...
I turned my head to the gym upstairs and the empty space downstairs.
I think it would be good to start with some good shooting practice.
I thought to myself.
I headed for the shooting range. The targets were strangely scattered around the sniper, as the magic arrows could easily change direction.
Rank 804, Vayne Salas confirmed.
A robotic voice I didn't recognize called my name as I held it up to the smart entrance we had been given. My novel was set a little further in the future than our current time. It was nothing compared to the world I lived in in the age of technology.
I was familiar with most of it because I was writing the novel, but to be able to remain indifferent to it was another matter altogether.
I walked in feeling a little strange.
My name was Vayne Salas now. I had to get used to being called by that name, at least until I got out of this situation.
It opened into a simple shooting range. In the center of this 130 square meter circular space was a machine for the shooter. A gentle robotic voice rang from the ceiling.
====================
Initializing destinations. Please select the number of targets. You can choose between 2 and 20. when I pressed it several windows opened
===================
"Ten."
The machine, which I activated with a voice command, started to work noisily.
I looked at the targets surrounding me, grasshoppers that could barely be considered monsters. They looked like the locusts everyone knew, but bigger.
===========
From stage 1 to stage 9, choose your difficulty
an choose your difficulty up to stage 9.
===========
Higher levels naturally meant that the targets moved faster. At stage 9, the targets also attacked. Their attacks were painful at best, but I still found them dangerous.
Stage 5 monsters could be called level f. These were the weakest monsters to come out of the dungeons.
I set the difficulty to 4 and filled my magic bullets. I squeezed the magic power into the bullets. To transfer your mana to the bullet, all you had to do was close your eyes and squeeze the bullet. I did that and waited.
I notified the system and targeted the leftmost monster, which the slow grasshopper obviously noticed as it accelerated.
It ran around without a set pattern, but I could see the afterimage of its future path. After anticipating its movements, I pulled the trigger.
A green flare came out of the barrel and the bullet pierced the grasshopper right through the center.
As I fired, I moved on to the next target. My hand moved on its own. One, two, three, four... ten. I pulled the trigger 10 times as the locusts scattered into mana particles. Only 2 survived.
Ahh... .
I didn't know if this was acceptable.
Maybe I could have done better, but I saw firsthand that my aim had deteriorated considerably.
Since I had served in the army in my old life, it was not difficult to hit targets with a pistol.
Your training is over.
Elapsed time: 2.37 seconds.
Sniping score: 70/100
Your bullet trigger speed is sufficient
Your mana is low
Overall score 5.9/10
In just 2.37 seconds.
"This is quite fun."
Now I'm just trying to keep up with the machine
"one more time!"
I shouted.
.
.
.
A relatively handsome man was standing on the edge of the training ground.
He had blond hair and a dignified air around him that reminded people of a high-ranking aristocrat.
He turned his head to look at the beautiful woman standing next to him and asked.
"What do you think of this class?"
Ms. Esther looked away and pointed to a few people.
"There are many promising young people, especially in this group, but the ones that stand out for me are Seth Turner, Arthur White , Sofia Lyons, Estelle Escard and Eleine Sunders"
Looking where Madame Esther was pointing, the handsome man nodded thoughtfully.
"Well, that's not surprising given their lineage"
"I no longer judge my students by something as meaningless as lineage, Mr. Arnold Sunders. The blood, sweat and tears they put into their education is what makes them so good. Just because they were born to successful parents doesn't mean they will be."
The man replied with a slight smile.
"I understand, ma'am."
Esther's face twisted a little, but she remained composed. She wanted to reply but the words caught in her throat.
"..."
"Well, I was wondering about that. Speaking of which, do you have your eye on anyone?"
Arnold asked gently.
Esther thought for a moment and then answered.
"Arthur white."
"The boy who set an unprecedented record and came a clear first in the entrance exam? I'm curious about him too. Someone with no apparent strong supporters has made it this far. It's quite strange, isn't it?"
"I was one of the invigilators during the test and was quite impressed with his swordplay. It was graceful and yet without any extravagant moves. I can say with confidence that we will soon have another S-class in our ranks. Perhaps, who knows, he might take your father's throne from him."
"I too have wondered who might take over from my dear father."
Arnold silently studied the wizard before him. Even Esther had a good impression of the boy. In the few years she had known him, Esther had never said anything good about her students. That was until Arthur White came along.
"Oh? The fact that the mist witch speaks so highly of him means that he really is a talent to watch out for."
Arnold smiled.
"Mist Witch? I told you not to call me that, Arnold!"
"...I'll take care of it, don't worry, ma'am."
Arnold took a step back as he sensed the faint magical power emanating from Ms. Ester.
Although his father was one of the ten most powerful people in the human sphere, Ester was well respected in the wizarding world. After all, she was a woman who had reached the rank of [S-] at such a young age.
Raising his hands in surrender, Arnold smiled slightly
"What about that guy over there? What about him?"
Arnold gestured to a boy holding a firearm.
With Madame Ester looking puzzled, he opened the tablet and projected the student's data.
