Chapter 7

Madame Esther's face crumpled as she looked at the data.
He's a (emitter), but even so, he's been trained with a sword since he was little. This means his mana is low. If your mana is low, you are not expected to cover the whole area in flames like a (emitter). Instead, buy a sword and try to strengthen your sword like a (enhancer). But the boy didn't do that. He went and chose a pistol.
Now he is trying to use a firearm like a (emission) user.
What did this kid think his life was? Wherever he came from, to be in the Dome now, you had to go through at least 6 years of training.
He should have spent those 6 years on one weapon and he should have used that weapon to the best of his ability.
Some kind of gamble?
Whatever way he thought of it, it was a lose-lose situation.
Arnold reluctantly asked Ester.
"If he was going to choose a weapon, why didn't he become a dungeon hunter? He would have been a very desirable level mage in the lower tier dungeons."
Ester didn't seem to mind, but replied to Arnold.
"Each student is responsible for the choices they make, so we can't interfere, we can only support them. We must respect their choices and help them where necessary."
"Yes, ma'am. I still don't think this boy will last long. You know the dome is a tough place."
"I know."
.
.
.
"Attention, please! All of you gather around."
Ms. Esther addressed the students in the training hall.
"I have been observing you all today and I was pleased with most of you, but not everyone pleased me because some of you were wasting your time playing or wandering around aimlessly. You don't know what it's like here and the time you spend now will affect your survival in the future. I expect better next time."
So said Madame Ester, and that was the end of the first training session. My arms and especially my fingers ached from pressing the trigger. I had no idea how many hours it took.
You might think of it as a place where teachers take care of each student individually, but it is not. This was a school with wizards who already knew what to do in training. If you are a beginner, you have no place here! This is the discipline of the Dome.
Just as I was about to leave the field, Professor Arnold called me.
When I walked up to him, his name popped into my head.
[Eye of Truth] is in use.
Cost to use [0 mana]
The ability will be passively activated when in the community. You cannot prevent this.
Arnold Sunders. He was the brother of the current Council president and uncle of a girl in my class named Eleine.
He was a kind professor who helped Eleine, a side character, during her time in the Dome.
The man's blond hair was combed to the side. His bony and actual features were an exact copy of the Council president, only a little younger. The intense aura he exuded around him suggested that he was not a normal professor at all.
"Hello Vayne, I'm Arnold Sunders, one of your practical teachers."
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Arnold. Is there a problem."
At first I thought he was going to talk about my choice of weapon, but Arnold had called me for something else entirely.
"I heard you didn't show up for the entrance ceremony, is there any problem?"
"no sir, I was just feeling bad."
(I had completely forgotten there was a ceremony...)
I shouldn't tell him that, should I?
"I understand. Please be careful from now on and don't skip classes and you need to register at the dormitory today. I've texted your block and room number to your phone."
"Yes, sir. I will pay more attention."
The blond-haired wizard was about to turn around and walk away when he turned back to me.
"And your choice of weapon... I hope you made the right decision, son."
"I hope so, sir."
"I have some books on weapons training if you're interested. Would you like one?"
"Actually, it would be very useful."
I didn't know how to use a regular gun, but you didn't know about a mana gun.
I couldn't turn down this offer of goodwill from Arnold.
I said hello to Arnold and left him.
It was only at the end of the grueling training that I realized I had to go home and carry my things here.
How nice....
Before the entrance ceremony, I had to unpack my stuff in the dormitory, of course, I missed that day, so I was just now finding out whether I could stay in the dormitory or not.
"Hey, why don't you teach me your moves? I saw him at the shooting range shooting his gun."
"You shouldn't be here."
"I think you should go and start killing people, you mercenary."
On my way home I was harassed by a group of men who started a conversation.
I continued to ignore them, but it seemed to increase their interest.
Should I really burn them and run away... Or maybe a bullet or two would have done the trick.
If they knew who I really was, they couldn't have acted this way.
After all, I was the one who designed them. When I ignored them for five minutes, they left me alone. In fact, the main reason they stopped was because students named Seth, Estelle, Sofia and Eleine walked past us.
The main characters... Or selfish and rich brujuvuvas, as they are now.
These four are walking along, chatting amongst themselves. The attention of all the students shifted to the protagonists present and they were being watched with the focus of a shooting star.
As soon as they left, the corridor regained its usual vibrancy. And I went outside the Dome to collect my things.
*Click!
I swiped my card and the door opened automatically for me.
It took me less time than I thought to pack my things and come back to the Dome.
Could it be because I didn't have many clothes?
Anyway, it was already 11 o'clock and my whole body was aching from the painful training. After taking off my shoes I took a short shower and went to bed. As soon as my body touched the bed I fainted.
.
.
.
"Hey! Guys, did you notice how everyone made way for us? It was like a big S-level wizard walking by."
Eleine Sunders said cheerfully as she looked at the people in front of her. Smiling at her, Sofia Lyons just nodded her head and added.
"Yeah, I saw it. I didn't really expect people to do that. After all, it shouldn't really matter where we come from here"
"
Seth Turner looked mockingly at Sofia Lyons.
"Hmph, of course you didn't expect that. The only reason they made way for us was because I was there, Sofia. Make way for Seth, the greatest wizard of the next generation! The mightiest of the (S)-level wizards. "
Hearing Seth's answer, Estelle Escard shook her head negatively and took two steps away from Seth.
She hated interacting with stupid people.
Sofia, on the other hand, did not react because she was used to Seth's behavior. Since they both came from the first and second level guilds respectively, they had both interacted with each other many times. So she was used to his behavior. Of course she was quite friendly with the others, but she and Seth had grown up together since childhood.
In fact, more than not reacting, he seemed not to care.
Eleine Sunders smiled wryly and tried to change the subject.
"Did you guys see the armed student at the shooting range?"
"That .... You mean the last kid to pick a gun?"
Seth replied.
"Uh, yeah, he was... What's his name, I thought he had previous training since he just picked a gun, but this was his first time?"
Eleine tilted her head and looked around. The group was suddenly silent. Eleine looked at the girls next to her in shock.
Sofia had a book open and was reading so she didn't answer.
Estelle didn't seem to ... She didn't seem to care. She didn't even believe that there was a subject in the world that could interest her.
Seth didn't know the boy's name. If he wasn't strong, he didn't mean anything to Seth.
"Forget that idiot and let's go to the cafeteria. I'm hungry. I could use a big ribeye right now."
said Seth, picking up his pace.
"Hey wait! I want to eat too."
"Forget it! Go get yourself a salad."
"Just because I'm vegan doesn't mean the cafeteria is off limits to me!"
shouted Eleine as she ran to catch up with Seth.
The other two girls sped up to catch up with them. Sofia was hungry but decided not to say so.
Estelle followed wherever the others were going. She still had some free time to go to her lab. She was going to take advantage of it with the three useless ones she had with her.
.
.
.
I kind of expected that, but...
Now half the class is making fun of me. In the Dome, we had 2 days of theoretical classes and 5 days of practical classes.
The first class on Tuesday was practical training.
Today was the second day of classes and today was my first non-practical class since I got here. Since people are usually locked in to improve their skills, most of the classes were based on actual fighting and body training, thus making theoretical classes quite rare.
Molecular Anatomy
That was the name of the theoretical class. An incredibly complex class that looked at the body of monsters and beasts.
Professor Thedor Mouse, a famous researcher with many awards to his name, was the professor in charge of this class. He and his team were single-handedly responsible for finding the mystery of why monsters went mad after mana invaded the atmosphere.
The professor was a chubby, middle-aged man with curly white hair and a calm disposition. If his eyes weren't fixed on the gigantic creature currently lying on the table in front of the classroom, people could easily mistake him for your nice uncle from the neighborhood.
