Chapter 6: New Challenges
As Inka and Rian entered their final months in elementary school, they faced more significant challenges. The transition from elementary to middle school was approaching, and with it came new responsibilities and uncertainties. While their passion for art and photography continued to flourish, other aspects of their lives began to present unforeseen problems.
One morning, Inka noticed that her grandfather, Bagyo, seemed more tired than usual. He was moving slower, and his face showed deep signs of fatigue. Inka felt worried, but Bagyo always assured her that everything was fine.
"Grandpa is just a little tired, Inka. Don't worry, dear," Bagyo said with a thin smile.
However, Inka couldn't shake off her anxiety. Every time she saw her grandfather struggling to do daily chores, her heart felt heavy. She knew they didn't have many options, and her grandfather wouldn't stop working just because he felt tired.
One day after school, Inka decided to talk to Rian about her concerns. They sat under the big tree by the river, their favorite place to talk.
"Rian, I'm worried about Grandpa. He seems more tired every day. I'm afraid something bad will happen," Inka said, her voice filled with anxiety.
Rian looked at Inka with deep sympathy. "I understand, Inka. But maybe we can find a way to help. How about we try to find part-time jobs to help with the family finances?"
Inka paused for a moment, considering Rian's suggestion. The idea made sense, but she didn't know where to start.
"You're right, Rian. But I don't know what jobs we can do," Inka replied softly.
Rian smiled. "We can start by offering our painting and photography services. There are many people in the village who might be interested. Besides, we can sell our works online."
With newfound enthusiasm, Inka and Rian began planning their steps. They made flyers to offer their services and started selling their works through social media. The response they received was quite positive, and little by little, they began to earn extra income.
However, another challenge arose when they had to balance school, part-time jobs, and their art activities. Inka felt overwhelmed by all the responsibilities she had to shoulder. She often stayed up late to finish school assignments and painting orders.
One night, while Inka was finishing a commissioned painting, Rian called her. His voice sounded anxious.
"Inka, I just heard about a national art competition that will be held next month. This is a big opportunity for us to showcase our talents. But I know you're already very busy. Are you sure you can participate?" Rian asked.
Inka fell silent, pondering the offer. The national art competition was a big opportunity that could open many doors for them. However, she also knew that participating in the competition would require a lot of time and energy.
"I want to participate, Rian. But I don't know if I can manage everything," Inka replied hesitantly.
"We can do it together, Inka. We can support and help each other. I believe in us," Rian said with confidence.
Inka smiled, feeling a bit relieved. "Alright, Rian. Let's do this together."
They began preparing for the art competition. Every day after school, they practiced and honed their skills. Despite being tired, their spirits never waned. They kept encouraging and reminding each other of their dreams and goals.
However, another problem arose when Grandpa Bagyo fell ill. One morning, Inka found her grandfather lying weak in bed, unable to get up. In a panic, Inka called the neighbors to help take him to the nearest health clinic.
The doctor who examined Bagyo said that his condition required intensive care and total rest. Inka felt devastated upon hearing the news. She couldn't imagine living without her grandfather, who had always been her source of strength.
Amid the chaos, Rian remained by Inka's side, providing support and assistance. They worked harder to fulfill painting and photography orders while still preparing for the art competition.
One night, as Inka sat by her grandfather's bedside, Bagyo weakly held her hand.
"Inka, don't worry about Grandpa. You must focus on your dreams. I'm proud of you and what you've achieved," Bagyo said softly.
Tears streamed down Inka's cheeks. "Grandpa, I can't do this without you. You mean everything to me."
Bagyo smiled weakly. "You are stronger than you think, Inka. Keep fighting, and never give up."
His words gave Inka new strength. She decided to keep going, not just for herself but also for her grandfather. With renewed determination, Inka and Rian completed their preparations for the art competition.
The day of the competition finally arrived. Inka and Rian felt nervous but also excited. They presented their best works, hoping to make Grandpa Bagyo and everyone who supported them proud.
After going through a rigorous judging process, Inka and Rian were announced as the winners. The victory wasn't just theirs, but for everyone who had helped and supported them along the way.
When Inka returned home with the trophy in her hands, she immediately ran to her grandfather's bedside. With tear-filled eyes, she showed the trophy to Bagyo.
"Grandpa, we won. This is all thanks to you," Inka said, her voice trembling.
Bagyo smiled proudly. "I knew you could do it, Inka. Keep dreaming and be the best."
The victory gave Inka and Rian more confidence to continue their journey. They knew that many challenges still lay ahead, but with each other's support and the love of those they cared about, they believed they could face anything.
Inka and Rian continued to work hard, developing their talents and helping those around them. They realized that life wasn't just about facing problems, but also about finding strength within themselves and in true friendship.
With a spirit that kept burning, Inka and Rian moved forward, ready to face a future full of hope and possibilities. And under the vast blue sky, they knew that together, they could achieve anything.
