Chapter 13 - Trial

As the elevator reached its destination, voices began to rise.

-What a fetid lump of waste these ones are.

-Oh, little ones. You mustn't leave your cage. Though it is simply adorable to watch you struggle.

-These ones are fit for crushing. I shall relish in scraping their remains off the floor.

-Just be quick about it will you? Their stench is already nauseating.

All these voices were so terrifying and demeaning. Yet, before he could even make sense of the voices, he was faced with a humanoid creature, two meters tall, wearing strange armor and wielding a huge axe. The only thing he could do was "to fight".

He was fortunate because rapiers had such a thin structure that they could take advantage of the gaps in armor. His plan was to use the openings in the creature's armor to pierce it. However, he had to be careful not to be hit by the huge axe. He thought of all this in a split second.

The creature swung its axe with a thunderous roar, but Argus was already moving. He dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the deadly blow, and countered with a quick thrust of his rapier. The blade slid effortlessly through a gap in the creature's armor, finding its mark.

But Argus knew that one strike would not be enough.

He had to exploit every weakness in the creature's defenses if he wanted to emerge victorious. With lightning speed, he withdrew his rapier and struck again, aiming for another vulnerable spot in the creature's armor.

Again and again, Argus attacked, each strike finding its mark with deadly precision. The creature staggered, its movements growing sluggish as it struggled to defend against Argus's relentless assault.

Finally, with a final, decisive blow, Argus pierced through the creature's armor, causing its upper body to separate from its lower half. But Argus didn't stop there. He continued to strike, his rage and determination driving him forward until the creature lay in pieces at his feet.

Breathing heavily, Argus surveyed the aftermath of the battle. He was battered and bruised, but victorious. He had faced a formidable foe and emerged triumphant.

As the body of the slain creature turned to ashes, the voices rose again.

-THE CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN FULFILLED, THEY ARE TO LEAVE UNSCHATED.

The last voice heard was the most dominant among them all. As soon as he finished speaking, lights began to surround Argus's body, he got knocked out and was taken to overworld by one of these ascending lights.
