Chapter 11 - Drowning

The journey was long and arduous, with Argus navigating through unfamiliar terrain. The vegetation in Upper Erisia was unlike anything he had seen before, strange and alien, with twisted trees and plants that seemed to writhe and twist in the wind.

As he traveled, Argus kept a vigilant eye out for any signs of danger. He knew that Upper Erisia was a dangerous place, filled with treacherous landscapes and deadly creatures. His senses were on high alert, every rustle of leaves or snap of twigs causing him to tense.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Argus arrived at the outskirts of Upper Erisia. He could hear the faint bubbling of the acid wells in the distance, a stark reminder of the dangers that awaited him.

As he prepared to enter the region, Argus knew that the real challenge lay ahead. Upper Erisia was a place of mystery and danger, and he would need all of his skill and determination to survive. But he was ready. His heart was set on vengeance, and nothing would stand in his way.

As Argus ventured deeper into Upper Erisia, the air grew thick with tension. Strange, almost ethereal noises echoed through the twisted landscape, sending a shiver down his spine. His senses heightened, he cautiously advanced, every instinct telling him to be on guard.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows, clad in the unmistakable uniform of the Knives of Eylis.

Argus reacted swiftly, his hand instinctively reaching for his rapier. He lunged forward with all he got but the Knives of Eylis member dodged his move with a grace that spoke of skill and training. In a swift counterattack, the assailant unleashed a barrage of ice spikes, each one aimed with deadly precision.

Argus staggered back, the ice spikes piercing his body sending shockwaves of pain through him. He gritted his teeth, refusing to let the agony overwhelm him. With a determined glare, he pulled the spikes out, ignoring the blood that flowed from the wounds.

-I won't let you get away with this, Argus growled, his voice laced with defiance. He lunged forward, his rapier aimed at his assailant, but the Knives of Eylis member was quick to parry the attack.

-You're a skilled fighter, the Knives of Eylis member acknowledged, a smirk playing on his lips. But you're no match for the might of the Knives.

Argus gritted his teeth, his grip on his rapier tightening. He launched a series of quick, precise strikes, forcing his opponent to retreat. But the Knives of Eylis member was quick, too quick. With a deft move, he sidestepped Argus's attack, leaving him off-balance and vulnerable. Before Argus could recover, the enemy retaliated, unleashing another barrage of ice spikes via his Frostdraw attunement.

The ice spikes tore through the air, finding their mark in Argus's body. He cried out in pain, staggering back as the icy projectiles pierced his flesh. The Knives of Eylis member stood victorious, a smirk playing on his lips.

-How did you? Argus managed to gasp, his voice strained with pain and disbelief.

The enemy's response was cold and mocking.

-Good luck in Schypozia, he sneered, before disappearing into the shadows, leaving Argus to his fate.

As Argus lay on the ground, his body pierced by ice spikes, he felt a searing pain unlike anything he had ever experienced. The mocking words of his assailant echoed in his ears, driving him to the brink of madness. He tried to move, to fight back, but his body refused to obey him. With each passing moment, he felt himself slipping away, his consciousness fading.
