Chapter 4 - Soul Contract.

The little dot knew this was the toughest enemy it had faced so far, but luckily, it wasn't alone this time. It was going to be a two-versus-one fight. The little fox, after eyeing the boar for a bit, decided to discuss some kind of strategy with the little dot to take down this tasty-looking beast.

"Hey, listen, my bloodline skill lets me use my Ether as a barrier. It's about a meter wide, so we can both hide inside it while we attack the boar. I've also got Fox Fire, but only two uses left. What about you?"

The little fox was taking a bit of a risk here. Telling someone your skills was kind of like asking for trouble, but there was something about the little dot that made her feel calm and trusting, like things would turn out fine with it around.

"My skill is Thunderbolt. I have one use left. If an enemy touches me after my barrier's down, I can damage them without losing much HP."

The little dot didn't really know that sharing your skills could be dangerous, so it just went ahead and did it. But the little fox took it as a sign of trust, and she felt happy about it.

"Hehe, okay, so how much damage does your skill do? My Fox Fire does 200 damage and leaves the enemy burning."

The little fox giggled, clearly pleased with herself as she shared her skill information.

The little dot wasn't sure about the damage its skill did, so it focused on it, like when it checked the title bar before, and more information popped up: |Thunderbolt 1/2| Deals 300 damage, chance to stun enemy. After reading that, the little dot told the little fox about it.

Since their conversation was all in their heads, the boar didn't notice them. They were ready. The little fox quickly leapt from their hiding spot and activated her barrier, with the little dot sticking close, both covered by the shield.

A second later, the little dot unleashed its [Thunderbolt 0/2], dealing 350 damage to the boar.

All the boar heard was a loud crack, and suddenly its barrier was almost gone. As it tried to locate the source of the attack, a ball of fire came speeding toward it, too fast to dodge. The boar's barrier shattered, and it felt its fur start to burn. |Hp: 600/800|ET: 0/450|°Burning°

The boar screamed in pain, but the little fox didn't waste any time. She fired off her last Fox Fire (0/2), and the boar took the hit straight to the head. Furious, the boar charged at the little fox, crashing into her barrier.

The boar was stopped cold, its HP (238/800) draining fast from the burn. It decided to flee, but before it could, something slammed into it from the side, knocking it down. It was the little dot, charging at full speed, hitting the boar while flying, which weakened its barrier even more.

Panic set in as the boar's HP (178/800) kept dropping. It was up against not one but two enemies. It struggled to stand and escape again, only to find itself trapped by a barrier. The little fox had enclosed it.

The boar, now trapped and burning, made one last desperate attempt to break free, but it was no use. There wasn't enough room to charge or even swing its head to use its tusks. The boar was finished. Its HP hit 0/800, and it was finally dead, cooked alive by the little fox.

With her dinner ready, the little fox pranced over to the boar, snuffing out her fire before digging in happily.

An hour later, she was full and feeling a bit bloated. That's when she remembered something important.

"Oh no! I forgot, we didn't make a soul contract! I'm so sorry, I was too hungry to remember."

The little fox began to panic.

"Soul contract?"

The little dot didn't have the slightest clue what that was, so it asked the little fox.

"Yes! It lets us share EXP from the enemies we hunt together. I'm so sorry I didn't remember, and I got all the EXP. I'm really, really sorry!"

The little fox explained, looking sad. In her tribe, forgetting something like this was considered a big deal, almost like a betrayal.

The little dot noticed how the little fox's ears drooped, and it felt something it hadn't felt before. What was that? Only time would tell.

"It's fine; we can make the contract now, and we can hunt together again once we've recovered."

The little dot had no idea how much those words meant to the little fox. Hearing them, she blushed slightly, and a small ball of light emerged from her forehead, drifting over to the little dot.
