Chereads / Thunder Empire / Chapter 2 - Wood Cave.

Chapter 2 - Wood Cave.

The nights on the island were anything but silent. If you stopped for a moment and really listened, you'd catch the roars of unknown beasts, the flapping of wings so loud you couldn't help but wonder what creatures they belonged to. But amidst all the noise, there was a faint, almost imperceptible sound of a tiny spark.

Our little spark, a glowing dot of light, had taken refuge in a small cave after its battle with the bird earlier that day. It checked its status and saw that it was fully rested, ready to venture out and explore the area.

As it floated out of the cave, the dot was greeted by the sight of trees and a small, damaged forest. The cause of the destruction was a mystery, one the little dot couldn't solve. It drifted in various directions, but every time it reached the edge of the island, all it saw was an endless expanse of water and, in the distance, a few other islands.

At least now, the dot knew the island it was on wasn't very large.

It remembered something it saw before a cave made of wood that had piqued its curiosity. So, it flew back in that direction. After a few minutes, it arrived at the wooden structure. Eager to learn more, the dot used its status view.

The dot realized that this wasn't a cave after all. It was something entirely different. Intrigued, it circled the structure and found an opening at the top. Like a curious kitten, it floated inside.

The interior was dark, and the further in it went, the more the cave-like space was submerged in water. But the dot wasn't worried about the dark since it was a source of light, after all, so darkness didn't concern it. It then ventured deeper inside.

When it reached the water, it hesitated, but then decided to plunge in. To its surprise, nothing happened. Well, nothing except making the water dangerous for other living creatures not made of lightning, but those were details the little dot didn't care about.

As it explored the waterlogged interior, discovering many unfamiliar objects, the dot felt a surge of happiness. It zipped from side to side, its joy almost tangible, until it stopped abruptly.

Ahead, it saw a glowing orb surrounded by creatures attacking it with needles of water. The dot focused its purple eyes, examining the creatures' status.

Lvl 1|---|Nightmare Needle Fish|Hp:100/100|ET:50/50| x10

Lvl 3|---|Nightmare Needle Fish|Hp:200/200|ET:150/150| x5

Lvl 4|---|Nightmare Needle Fish|Hp:250/250|ET:200/200| x1

There were so many of them, like a small swarm. But why were they attacking that glowing orb? The dot couldn't read any status from the orb, which only made it more curious.

The Level 4 fish noticed the dot approaching and, feeling threatened, emitted a low, ominous sound. It sent five Level 1 needlefish to investigate the small light, but within seconds, the Level 5 needlefish heard a dangerous, loud crackle. A bolt of lightning had shot through it.

The dot had been nearing the fish-like creatures when it saw them coming closer. Panicking, it activated its skill [Thunderbolt: 0/1], and in an instant, a blinding ray of light pierced through the Level 5 fish. The surrounding water became so electrified that all the fish within a 3-meter radius perished, unaware of what had just occurred.

The dot didn't quite understand what had happened either.

With the fish now gone, the dot felt a surge of power, not just from defeating the swarm but because it had leveled up.

"Wow, so that's what the exp was for! I just hit Level 2, and I can use my skill one more time, and also the daily limit has increased to 2! But... what is this title?"

The dot focused on the title, "Griller," and more detailed information appeared.

|Griller|

If you can't stand the heat, go get me a beer!

+5% damage to Fish-type enemies.

+10% success rate while cooking fish.

The dot was speechless. On one hand, it had no idea what a "beer" was, and on the other, it didn't know what "cooking" meant. After all, it was just a little spark of light, only a day old. So, it decided to ignore that for now and focus on something else, something like the glowing orb that had been under attack.

As it drew closer, it could finally see that something was inside the orb. Now near enough, the dot tried to read the status window.
