Chapter 14 - Kill

Percy lifted up the ground, twisting and spinning in the air as the gigantic fists of the ape beast grazed past him.

His hand spread out immediately, aiming for the monster's eyes but it managed to block just in time.

Percy pushed off the monster's hand with his blade, the shape edge only managed to nick the beast even though Percy used it to push himself almost five meters away.

Its extra hands are troublesome. I can't seem to penetrate its flesh. I need to attack a vulnerable spot but it's too dangerous to close in.

Percy stood, his knees bent and his back arches, he was like a cat ready to pounce. But unlike a cat, his physique wasn't in its prime state.

His breath was ragged and wisps of fog left his lips everything he breathed out through them. The weather was cold, the rain mercilessly chilling his skin. His eyes were getting blurry and his muscles stiff.

He was already exhausted from his fight with Ichor and now he was facing a beast whose skin his blade couldn't even perpetrate.

The beast had a sly look on its face, it could tell that its prey was getting tired. Its physique was better, its durability was amazing and its resilience was like that of a rock. Unbreakable. Percy was fighting a losing match, one even worse than his fight with Ichor.

At least I could hurt him. No matter how much I try, I can't penetrate. Its hide is too tough, my strikes aren't heavy enough. It was stupid of me to have broken my blade.

Percy's usual cold expression was gone, all that was left was a tired face and battered body. He just wanted to get some shut eye.

He blinked, he could feel his eyelids getting heavier with every blink. The water that coated his long eyelashes seemed as heavy as lead.

Percy blinked the second time, the time it took longer for him to open his eyes. His posture laxed a bit and the monster saw a chance it had been waiting for.

A memory flashed…

***

"What a shame. For such talent to be wasted on you."

Percy had his head down, unable to look the man that stood before him in the eye. The men's figure was larger, larger than Lassen's. He stood at almost seven feet and his shoulders were so broad, he looked like two Lassen's fused together.

His muscles were as thick as Percy's thighs and his jaws were sharp. And although he wasn't good looking, his extremely masculine aura made him attractive in his own rights.

His eyes were a deep red, the unique symbol of members of house Warburn. And at this moment, they were filled with a condescending gaze as he stared at Percy like he was a filthy being. Something even more filthy than a bug.

"I'm ashamed that you bear my name. Your whore mother probably cheated one. No wonder she died a brutal death."

Percy flinched, his teeth cracked against each other, his jaws were clenched so tightly, it felt like he might shatter his whole mandible.

His fist tightened so much, his knuckles were white and his nails dug into his palm. But even with all of his fury, all of his anger and all of his hatred, he couldn't seem to raise his head.

It was like an invisible mountain was pressing down against him, a mountain he could never surpass.

Just when he thought the pressure would crush him, he heard a voice as gentle as a calm spring drift into his ears.

"Ichor…"

A familiar pair of golden eyes came into view. A pair of eyes that made one shiver. But even with how terrifying these eyes were, they were pure.

No arrogance, no pride, no disdain. Just acceptance. A look that was strange to Percy whose life had always been about rejection.

The monster closed the distance of five meters, its knees bent, its body arched and with a forceful snap, its left fists hurtled towards Percy's head.

The wind whistled as the beast's macabre fists cut through the storm, steam rising from its skin as droplets of water from the storm evaporated due to the sheer force of the attack.

Whoosh!

The beast's eyes widened in shock, its gaze locking onto a pair of cold purple eyes. At that moment, it knew. It could sense its own death.

Percy's eyes were cold, a thin cut ran across his cheeks from where the wind had cut him. If that attack had so much as grazed him, his whole face would have caved in and yet knowing this, he had calmly taken a step sideways, stepping in front of the monster, barely dodging the attack.

As he locked eyes with the beast, he finally seemed to understand something. He could see the fear in the beast's eyes, he could see its terror. He knew that the beast could sense his killing intent, something he was actually holding back.

You can only truly know how to kill when you've been killed.

At that moment, Percy's eyes were filled with respect. His left hand which had been hanging beside him rose up and held his sword.

Everything played out in slow motion. Percy raises his sword, its broken top pointed towards the beast's neck.

His muscles tensed and he pierced, the rough edge of the sword easily penetrating the beast. The momentum of its movements was so intense, the sword pierced cleanly through.

But Percy knew that although the wound would kill the beast, it wouldn't do so immediately. He was prepared.

The beast's large arms, all four of them, slammed against its chest in a bid to crush Percy, but he had anticipated it. Percy calmly took a step back, pulling out his sword and getting out of the way of the beast's brutal hug.

He then immediately closed in on the beast, finally having a clear shot at a vulnerable place. It's eyes.

Shkuck!

Blood spurted into the sky as Percy pierced twice in quick succession, his sword movements quick and strong now that he was using both hands.

The beast stood rooted to its position before slowly falling to the floor. Its blood didn't even get a chance to pool, the rain washing it off immediately.

Throughout the process, Percy's gaze never left the monster's.
