Chapter 2 - An inkling of what the eyeglass can do

Wendy could not take it anymore. The way they are treating Vince is unfair. The poor kid didn't do anything. The one they hate is Dexter, Vince's dad.

He and Vince moved to Tima province because of work. Dexter is a project manager and he is part of the group that the mayor brought to turn the Saling falls into a tourist attraction.

People here didn't like it. They have strong opinions about it and they can't do anything about it because the mayor hired security to protect the construction area and the workers.

Since they cannot do anything, they should have let it go. However, when they learned that Vice will be enrolling in the school, they focused on him.

They thought that they can bully the kid and he will convince his father to abandon the project and move away. They didn't even think for a second that the mayor can easily replace Dexter. Their action wouldn't be able to accomplish anything other than hurt an innocent family.

This time, Wendy cannot let it go. Mrs Alrol's actions have crossed the line. Wendy had to do something.

As the daughter of a police officer, Wendy knew a thing or two about the security measures in the school. The others may be celebrating their victory as they return to their homes, but Wendy hid somewhere. When she saw the guard go on patrol, she snuck unto the principal's office and copied the cctv videos of that day.

Wendy planned to give it to Dexter to keep Vince from being expelled. Hopefully this can convince Dexter to move Vince to another school.

The next day, Wendy found the atmosphere in the classroom strange. She learned that Dexter found Vince unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital and hasn't regained consciousness.

Those kids that are feeling guilty tried to comfort themselythat they did nothing wrong. They are fighting for their land which at the moment is being tarnished by the workers.

Meanwhile, Mrs Dumdum and the other teachers are urging the students to say that Vince has been stealing stuff from day one. They added that Vince must be feeling pressure due to moving to a new place. That's why he resorted to stealing things.

Apparently, Mrs Dumdum's action wasn't over the top, because Vince has been caught stealing, too many times. That's why she gave him the one week suspension and then sent the letter.

Wendy now understands what her mom always tell her. More lies will be needed to protect your first lie. That's why she told Wendy to avoid lying as much as possible.

Wendy went home that day with her mind made up. No one regrets their actions. They should be the one to regret. She needs to make them regret it.

She waited until midnight before she went back to school and used the school computers. Wendy was careful enough not to be caught by the cctv. She even made sure not to leave any finger prints.

She turned on five computers and used each computer to create a fake profile. After creating five social media accounts, she uploaded the cctv footage and tagged a couple of politicians, famous reporters and other famous people.

Wendy never imagined herself being so capable. Breaking into the school, not being caught by the cctv and even making sure to erase her finger prints. That's not something a kid would do. Also, she never really thought to punish Mrs Dumdum that way. At the very least, she just wanted to remind Dexter and Vince to stay away from the local morons.

Not understanding what prompted her to do it, Wendy went home to watch tv. It was only after watching some cop drama that she went to the basement and burned the USB along with her clothes. As for her shoes, she hooked up her bike to lift it up a couple of feet. Then, she turned the pedal using her right hand and using her left hand, pushed the bottom of her shoe to the spinning wheel of the bike.

When she woke up the next morning, she was overwhelmed by guilt. Wendy realized that she really belongs to this place because she is as bad as they are. When she felt the urge to hurt them, she did. And that's what bad people do.

She cried for a bit before she comforted herself with the thought that she isn't as bad as they are. Because she didn't hate them for no reason, she hated them for what they have done. Also, she didn't leave behind any evidence.

Like a certain bad guy in a cop drama used to say, "people who does things badly end up two ways. Homeless or behind bars."

She never really thought about it before but now, she knew that if anyone found out about what she did, she would either be thrown out of the house or put in jail.

.....

Vince woke up after three days. At this time, Dexter has learned about how Vince is being treated at the school. He apologized and promised to transfer Vince to a different school.

Vince learned from the nurses about the fate of Mrs Dumdum along with a few other teachers and students. Social media has not been kind to them. And the school has been temporarily closed for the rest of the week.

The doctors interviewed him and was not able to find the reason why he fainted and fell asleep for days. They could not find anything wrong with his body. All they could do is to keep him in the hospital for a few more days as they monitor his condition. Though some of the doctors think that Vince's condition has something to do with mental trauma.

During his time in the hospital, Vince showed the eyeglasses to anyone that would enter his room. Sadly, no one saw it. He even placed it in the empty food tray. However, it appeared in his hand after the nurse took a few steps outside his room while carrying the tray.

Clearly, the glasses are magical.

Vince still remembers the information that entered his mind as he used the eyeglass after reading the words in the frame.

He fears using the eyeglass but he also can't help himself. The eyeglass is like his very own super power and also like a double edged sword. It hurts him as he uses it and it also hurts his enemy. He never really believed that his bullies would get punished out of nowhere. It must be due to what he did.

Vince took a few coins and read the words in the frame. Then he looked outside the window and picked a random person. As he read the words above the chosen persons head, Vince felt like he needs to choose which hand to offer. He choose his left hand.

He saw that person take a step into a banana peel, slip and fall straight into the ground. At the same time, Vince felt his left hand go numb.

Vince didn't fall unconscious this time. The numbness in his hand that would remain for only a couple of hours is something that he suddenly knows. In what way he was made aware of that information, he didn't know.

Vince plans to fully understand everything that he can about this magical eyeglass before he left the hospital. He might need to lose consciousness a few more time in the next few days. That way, no one would be surprised everytime he uses the power of the eyeglass and become unconscious.
