Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Emerald

"Oh simple thing! Where have you gone?"

---------------------------

One of them charges towards me, but he stops the guard in it's tracks. Richard is giving off a weird aura but gives a daunty smile and invites me to sit. He orders his guards to leave the guest chamber which gives me a signal to do the same. I order Blanché and my personal guards to leave as well and he starts speaking: "Mada-"

I did not allow myself to immerse any further into my memories as I, once again, met Richard. He greeted me with his same old daunty smile which I had termed as The Richard Smile.

Entering this palace was like entering a fantasy. Each corridor and hall architected magnificently. The sprawling beauty of each wing with gigantic windows adorned with silk curtains left me speechless, always and every time. The ceilings twenty feet above our heads. Gems encrusted in the thrones, wooden doors and each and everything about this place was breathtaking if I hadn't come from a much more beautiful place than this.

"Miss Blanché, leave the room and don't barge in without permission." I whispered in her ear as I sat down across the conference table.

"Your Majesty, I can't bear to trust this man even for a second after all that he's done." She whispered back.

"Well, guess what? Neither do I. Leave now and don't act on impulse."

---------------------------

"Madam,as you know, the threat of desicles is growing rapidly day by day. I assume you have an idea of what you're here for today?" He let the words sink in, expecting a reply from me, before speaking again.

"I'll get to the point since you refuse to reply. Sydney in becoming a death ground for innocent people and a place for desicles to roam around. Your military and police department are failing to control this rampage..." He played with the last few words as if he was enjoying saying that.

"Queen Emerald, numerous people are loosing their lives on daily bases and they need you to do something." Now,he was actually getting serious. This time, I spoke cutting him off before he spoke again.

"King Richard, do I have to remind you that how I handle my kingdom's matters are none of your concern?" I said, arching a brow.

"You have absolutely need not to, Ma'am."

"What kind of deal do you offer this time?" I knew he had invited me here for a reason. Richard never insisted on inviting me to his palace without a reason.

He scoffed, pondered for a minute, then replied. "It's almost time for lunch. I invite you to a meal."
