Chapter 11 - Soul Lapsing

Standing before the Spirit Beasts, Kairi had decided to take a risky gamble. Holding his dagger, he doubtfully considered his frame. Could the very first component of Soulweaving, Soul Lapsing, even work with my frail body?

As he had this consolation, the two Spirit Beasts were making their way toward him while he barely had the means to fend them off. They gazed across the sand, marking their turtle-like footprints across the ground, they were larger than a cow and the crystals on their backs served as a defensive mechanism.

There was also still the problem of Soul Synergy, as Kairi deduced: Most Spirit Beast, being tied to both the physical and spiritual Realm, could also use Soul Lapsing. He stood across the field of sand, with a hand on his fractured ribs, and one on his blade, his back hunched and his body numb.

"I'll have to use it here." Kairi muttered, sweat trickling down his sun-tanned face, his brows furrowed and his green eyes squinted, he balled his first. Now or never.

Kairi then closed his eyes, he began to recall on Huweyn's instructions in mind:"Close your eyes Kairi, clear your mind, meditate onto nothing, when your mind is all cleared, visualize yourself in a dark room casted by shadows, the only thing in front of you is but a single door painted into the surroundings of nothingness… There lies the Essence of your Soul."

Kairi, despite his current predicament, had closed his eyes and greeted the world of emptiness, he drifted off into the deepest part of his mind, he visualized being in his own pocket space. He looked around to be greeted with nothingness, nothing, despite there lying nothing, he visualized a door,  one modeled after the wooden door of his and Seth's room in the Orphanage, in the vast shadows of darkness.

He imagined himself walking towards that door, his palms latching on the cold sensation of the door knob, with his fingers on the door; he began to recall more of his mentor's words:"Now I want you to only focus on opening that door for now. That door represents the link between your soul and your body. In a way, you can say it represents your Essence Mark. What follows next when you open that door is what we call Soul Lapsing."

Upon recalling these words, he opened the door, and as he did he opened his eyes. Revealed once more to the brilliance radiating from the rays of Eos, but more the light of Eos, he was revealed to another source of light.

A strange phenomenon had encircled him, as he looked down at his hands, the Rays of Eos plunging down disarraying his focused gaze, there was an external body of light around his body, like a second soul, no, it was as though his soul and his body had switched places. Or if his soul, which was inside his body, was pulled from the inside and now rested outside his physical body, around it like an armor. His body now glowed brightly like a night-star.

The strange star-shaped mark on his neck, his Essence Mark began to glow with bright luminance just as the rest of his vessel. It was like the time he had first met Tevin and Huweyn; the strange ability that was once an anomaly to him was now also his to command and use.

As the body of light encircled him, he felt a great source of nourishment and energy surging through his weakened body, like a large bolt of electricity  flashed through every muscle fiber of his body, but instead of feeling pain, he felt insurmountable relief and elevation, even more relief from his previous injuries. Every part of his normally frail body felt as light as a feather, and his normally weak muscles pulsed with raw strength and power.

His unsteady breaths were now perfectly controlled, and clear vision returned to his sight, he no longer felt the striking pain in his head, and his injuries no longer weighed down on him.

He felt perfectly healthy, like he was in the best physical shape he ever was in his life, he felt invincible, and elevated, calm and composed despite the situation that enfolded him.

It was as though he was given a new body, one in perfect physical condition, but Kairi knew the truth; he knew that this external body, this ethereal body of light was even more fragile than his normally frail mortal body. His soul was now his armor, and because it was his soul, he was more prone to even greater risks, ones such as Soul Fragmentation. The phenomenon that had happened to his mentor, Huweyn.

Deep within an enclosed space, where the rays of Eos barely plunged through, was a small space marked by large rocky caverns taking flight to the cave-like ceiling waves. It was a dark room, light barely slipped through punctured holes in the ceiling, it was marked by waves of sands, and inhumane fossils buried deep within.

The sand that encircled the ground was painted with dark ink-like liquid running a track-race across the ground. It was blood, blood that came not from a human but a Beast.

Within the watches of the shadows, at the darkest corner of the room, glowed something with elegant luminance, the light sat atop the corpse of a monstrosity. The corpse belonged not to a human, it was the source of ink-like blood smeared across the blood. The body was the size of a giant, with dark black reptilian-like scales, with a head like a large dragon but the body of a serpent.

The source of light took the form of a man, glowing with bright brilliance was a long-headed man marked with majestic features, standing at nearly seven feet tall.

He held his glowing hand out, stretching to the air as he did, tightly woven glowing blue threads escaped from his vessel dancing into the air; the man found himself trapped in thought, a name constantly repeating in his mind: Kairi

The figure had a familiar face, though marked by luminance, it was Kairi's temporal mentor, Huweyn Whispering Ash, the notorious young-blooded Transcender. He thought, I can feel another presence here, a familiar air of self uncertainty, a figure I'd want to avoid as of now.

He smirked,"So you're using the first component of Soulweaving after I warned you already, stubborn Kairi?"
