Chapter 12 - Inexperienced Folly

Standing before the stretching arches of sand in an widened area marked by sand and towering bright luminous crystals buried within the ground of which the radiating rays of Eos retracted off of from small gaps within the cave-like infrastructure throughout within the enclosed parts of the Sworning Caverns, was Kairi, amidst the presence of two Spirit Beasts, now towering before him.

Holding his single rugged-bladed dagger in both hands, a network of energy surging throughout each muscle fiber and limb, his thick luscious light brown spirals of hair tossed about by the ravaging wind, with a glint of resolve in his jewel green eyes, Kairi smirked.

He had never felt this much confidence before, he was as confident as he was energized. The energy pulsing through his body made him certain that his frail body was no longer a problem and that he could, if by a little chance, take down both montrosicities.

With his injuries no longer weighing on him he could just easily run away without being hit by any attacks, but from the beginning of the Spirit Beasts' assault, despite his inherent reluctance, Kairi felt the need to test his limits; his limit that was surpassed and pushed to the brink all in one day.

It's finally time to see what this is all about– Soul Lapsing at least. As one of the Spirit Beasts, the one he had injured beforehand, opened its dragon-like jaw, Kairi felt alerted.

Within the moment its jaw finally stretched open, revealing a dreadful barrage of teeth that looked like heaven-piercing mountain tops, Kairi lept to the side. All within a brief moment, his anticipated small dive turned out to be a superhuman display of raw power.

As he dived to the side of him, at the moment his feet kicked off the desolate ground, Kairi, for a brief moment, flew through the air, his luscious spirals of strands was aggressively tossed about by the air. His fast instinctive dive turned out to be a large long-jump, although the distance was not that far from his initial position, his movement was too fast to be regarded as humanly possible.

Quicking pulling his body out of the sand, Kairi looked to the side of him, flabbergasted by his display of speed, as he observed the ground, where his initial location before the jump was, a large crystal shard was now seen buried within the sand.

Maybe if he was aware and predicted the attack a few moments ahead of time, dodging would be possible with even his normal physicality, but with the time he was given he shouldn't have been able to. With the added superhuman physicality given to him by Soul Lapsing, he was able to evade swiftly in time.

So this is Soul Lapsing? I'd be dead had I not taken this risk. He then looked over the sand trail he made on the ground with a frown atop his face, I can't even maneuver right.

Turning back to the direction of the Spirit Beasts. Kairi then placed his hands onto the ground, with his head facing forward, he pushed his right foot back, and his other forward.

The Spirit Beasts, both of them in sync, having a state of awareness immediately opened their jagged dragon-like jaws. Upon seeing this, Kairi recalled what had happened beforehand. They're planning to shoot crystals again– Like I'd let them.

Kairi, his eyes unprecedentedly focused, once at the faintest hint of movement in Spirit Beasts, kicked his legs off ground, while simultaneously, a barrage of cold spiked crystals was shot at him like an onslaught of arrows; not too fast but not slow.

Before they even reach their target, Kairi, with the wind grazing against his body, his brown curls bouncing about, his vision blurred by the air, dashed right past the attack straight to the Spirit Beasts in mere seconds.

Because his vision was blurred from the wind, Kairi could not see properly, so his initial straight line of attack led to him slipping onto the sand, rapidly grazing against the ground.

With his clothing covered in sand, he sighed."Not again."

Deep within Kairi's mind, within the link that was established between Kairi's body and soul, something began happening. In that moment, Kairi felt a strange feeling.

The light around his body began to dim anr the radiance in his Essence Mark began to faint; Kairi was paralyzed with a pulsing sensation of insurmountable pain shooting through him like a network of burning wires; his head pounded like Butcher hammering against raw meat.

Clutching his head, Kairi fell onto the ground, gasping for breath as blood trickled down his nose, his luminance gone. The stabbing pain in his ribs had returned accompanied by the head trauma and paralysis that overwhelmed him.

His head throbbed like a drum, his body limp and disabled, the light in his Essence Mark extinguished. It was then that he finally grasped Huweyn's warning and insistence on

him not using either techniques.

"I-it hurts!"

The link between his soul and body became momentarily faltered, causing the process of Soul Lapsing to immediately be disturbed. It also caused him mental fatigue and deterioration to Kairi's psyche, and a toll on his health.

In that moment, during Kairi's agony, something else had entered the presence of Kairi and the Spirit Beasts. For a brief moment, Kairi felt an wave of desperation and panic but not from him, and as he did, vibrantly blue threads danced loosely through the air, rapidly approaching the Spirit Beasts. Upon reaching their targets, the loose vibrant threads, in an instant, tightened and concentrated that they were no longer.

For a moment, there was complete silence, no movement anywhere in the Spirit Beasts, and the next, they both trampled onto the ground like toppled game pieces. Dark green liquid slowly oozed into the sand from their heads.

Kairi, his vision dimming, through a single flicker of his Essence Mark immediately recognized who and what it is, who the attack came from. Huweyn?
