After a long, tense drive, William finally pulled the car to a stop at a secluded spot, surrounded by thick trees and darkness. The silence between them was heavy, filled with unsaid words and old wounds.
"William," Stella finally spoke, her voice filled with a mix of anger and confusion.
"I know you might have a lot to say and ask," William interrupted, his tone calm but firm. "But it's not the time for that now."
Stella's frustration flared. "You say I'm in danger? You left me years ago, William! And now you just show up, telling me I'm in danger?"
William's expression softened slightly, though there was still a tension in his gaze. "You have to believe me. I didn't leave you by choice. I nearly died that day. A doctor saved me, but when I woke up... I was told you went to the Luci and Jack pack alone and that you were killed. That's what made me leave the town. I thought I had lost you."
