One evening at the secret house, Benjamin stood with Inspector Rose, who was holding a cigarette and exhaling smoke into the cool night air.
"It's been a long day, Officer Daniel," Inspector Rose said, her voice weary.
"Yeah, ma'am," Benjamin replied, the tension in his voice evident.
"So, what did you want to see me about?" she asked, taking another drag from her cigarette.
Benjamin took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "Can you please reduce Stella's missions?" he asked, his voice pleading.
Inspector Rose looked at him and laughed, a harsh sound in the quiet night. "Are you mixing emotion with your duty? Have you forgotten why you're there?"
"No, I haven't," Benjamin said firmly. "But she has been a good person, and I think she is now a better person. What if we have a legal marriage? Maybe she will open up more."
