The Samurai and The Adventurers Guild
-
Before I could enter the adventure's guild, I had to have my identity verified at the gate by the guards. I informed Fervis that I didn't have any verification with me, but she informed me that would be fine. I would be granted a temporary entrance into the city until I had my own Status Plate made.
As we approached the Gate, a royal guard noticed our approach and flashed a warm smile to Fervis while the guard observed me a bit more harshly. The guard was dressed in all silver armor with a dark red helmet. The guard's face resembled that of a young teenage boy. His gaze was filled with uncertainty and fear. When we finally made it to the guard's post, he shifted hesitantly and placed his hand on the handle of his sheathed sword.
"Maxwell? What's going on?" Fervis asked, clueless of the fact that he was likely identifying me as a threat. 'Why do I always have to deal with this?'
"Lady Fervis, who is this assailant and why are they dressed in such weird clothes?" Maxwell questioned before releasing the grip on the handle of his sword.
"You're the one wearing weird clothes!" I shouted in frustration while turning my head to scoff at the guard. Fervis began mediating the situation while I calmed my anger. 'What a rude guard. I would have killed him if Fervis wasn't here.' I couldn't help but roll my eyes while she spoke to the guard.
"So, my friend Mimi is a foreigner, and I wanted to see if I could have a temporary plate made for her so that she can enter the Capital." Fervis reasoned to the guard who gradually lost the aggression he displayed to me.
"Just your word is enough for us to allow her into the Capital, Lady Fervis." The guard exchanged a warm smile with Fervis and turned his attention back towards me with a frown.
"Lady Fervis has put in a good word for you, so I will allow you in, but don't you dare cause a commotion inside of the city to tarnish her name." Maxwell sneered at me and handed me a golden plate before continuing to speak.
"Make sure you get your own Status Plate made within three days or that Plate will lose its validity and you will be forced to leave."
"Thanks for the help, Maxwell! Bye Bye!" Fervis exchanged a wave with the guard who immediately followed the action.
'How dare a mere political pawn speak to me this way! I am a Samurai, I should be treated with the utmost respect!' As I my body veered in anger inside, on the outside, I maintained a vulgar smile as I grabbed the plate and walked through the gate. I turned back to the now-distant guard and swiped my thumb over my neck.
Maxwell noticed this motion and just waved to me for some reason. 'Does that mean he wants to battle me in a duel? Or does he not understand that I want to chop his head off?' As I continued to ponder about his strange actions, Fervis also questioned me.
"Ah, is that another way you wave goodbye in your culture?"
Fervis copied the action I had done earlier and swiped her thumb across her neck. 'What have I done to this pure-hearted girl?' I silently cried inside.

It didn't take long for Fervis and I to reach the Adventurer's Guild. This building, compared to the other buildings, very much stood out because it was covered in gold from top to bottom. The building stretched a massive five stories tall, and it was adorned with multiple windows.
As Fervis and I walked up the steps to the vast building, we were greeted by a very short, golden-haired man. His ears stood out to me because of how long they were. It was very much different from what I had remembered as normal ears. His pale face was slightly wrinkled indicating old age, his eyes were blue, and he was dressed in a silky green cloth. 'Why do these people dress so oddly?'
"Welcome back to the Capital, Fervis." He exchanged a greeting with Fervis, who confidently smiled.
"Thank you for your kind words, Guild Master. This is my friend Mimi that I met in the forest surrounding Ienori." Fervis explained.
'Hmm, I wonder what land she is speaking about?'
"So she was a human living in a forest on the border of the Demon realm? How interesting!" The guild master exclaimed as he began to examine me.
'Border of the Demon realm? What is this old man babbling about?'
"So, what is the youngest Court Mage in the Capital doing at my establishment?" He followed the sentence by leaning forward until his face was simply a couple of hairs away from the face of the now nervous Fervis.
'Too close.' I stepped between the two of them to insert myself back into the conversation.
"Fervis brought me here to have a Status Plate made for me." I announced and glared at the man. 'How dare he get so close to Fervis? He is lucky that he seems to be the owner of this place, or he would likely be missing an arm!'
"Ah, I see. Well then, both of you are welcome inside and just head over to the front counter for us to work on your status plate." He smiled and took a step to the side to allow us to walk inside.
When I walked through the doors, I was greeted at the sight of a beautiful 'Restaurant?' There were women in skimpy attire serving drinks to a group of middle-aged men who all looked very unkept. If it wasn't for the fact that Fervis told me I needed to register with this shady establishment to stay in the city, I would've immediately turned around and left.
'This world is so weird, after all.' As I continued to observe the women, my eyes were suddenly covered by the soft hands of Fervis.
"Mimi, h-h-h-h-h-how can you ogle those women like that in front of m-m-m-m-m-m-me?!" Fervis shouted in panic as I tried to shake her hands off of my eyes.
"I'm not ogling them!" I frantically tried to persuade Fervis, but she kept her hands over my eyes and guided me forward until we were standing in front of a counter.
"What are those two doing?"
"I have no idea, but the blue-haired lass is exactly my type."
"I know right!"
Behind me, I noticed the voices of the men who were seated at a table directly behind Fervis and me speaking crudely about an underage girl such as myself and I was tempted to slit all of their necks, but I held myself back and focused my attention on the woman who stood in front of me behind the counter.
"Welcome to the Royal Adventures Guild. How may I help the two of you?" she started, but when her gaze shifted to Fervis, she stopped speaking and warmly smiled at her. Which caused me some sort of discomfort. 'Why do I get annoyed when people smile so warmly at this girl?'
"Welcome, Fervis. What can I help you with?" She asked.
"Hello Rumi, I want to register my friend Mimi here as an adventurer." She announced.
"That is no problem at all. Please put your hand on this crystal ball, Mimi." Rumi followed her sentence by bringing over a Crystal Ball from underneath the counter and placed it on the counter.
I hesitantly looked over to Fervis before I touched the ball, but she nodded, which I interpreted as "go ahead" so I placed my hand on the crystal.
What followed was a violent eruption of colors that created a whirlwind inside the restaurant. Screams of panic could be observed from almost everyone inside, including Rumi. I looked over to Fervis, who was also confused, but just as quickly as the crystal erupted with colors it soon faded until it just displayed a dim glow with one word of text that I was unable to understand.
'What does unmeasurable even mean?'
Rumi, who had hidden under the counter during the spiraling crystal, looked at the text with a look of horror.
The old Guild master had rushed inside of the restaurant during the commotion and walked over to the counter to consult with Rumi. "Rumi, what just happened?"
"The girl that Fervis brought in… it's saying that her power is…. Unmeasurable."
