The enormous salamander-like creature that had swallowed Uta whole let out a thunderous bellow, flicking its tongue out with a grotesque plop.
It wasn't alone. Across the bustling main street of Fishburg, several of the giant creatures rampaged, tearing through buildings and devouring fleeing Mermen. Stella, frozen in shock, counted five of them within her line of sight.
"Uta… Uta's been eaten…"
Her face twisted with fear and disbelief. She wanted to believe he would be fine—after all, this was Uta. But seeing someone you know get swallowed by a monster was not an experience she'd ever prepared for.
"BWOMOOOOH!"
Amid the screams and chaos, one of the enormous salamanders turned its attention to Stella, its glossy eyes locking onto her as it began lumbering forward on its stubby, muscular legs.
"A-ah…"
Her body refused to move. Every instinct screamed at her to run, but she remained rooted to the spot, paralyzed by fear.
