Edart was advancing quickly across the plain. His favorite method of going slowly and silently was no longer working, as the slimes were able to detect his arrival somehow. Having no choice, he had to run directly towards them.
— ["There, on your left, there are two plant-element slimes."] Eris warned.
Edart looked where she indicated. Spotting them, he made sure his sword was steady in his hand for the upcoming battle.
— "I found them." He replied to Eris.
The slimes that were eating calmly noticed the different sounds around them, stopped what they were doing and began to look for the person responsible for it. Without delay, they found Edart running towards them.
As they looked at him, their bodies trembled slightly as they felt fear taking hold of them. Even so, they began to create leaves that began to spin at high speed.
— "I already know this trick, it won't work on me." Edart said when he saw their attempt to resist.
Edart didn't stop running and continued to advance quickly.
— ["Here comes their attack."] Eris warned when she saw the slime's mana start to move faster.
Hearing her warning, he paid more attention to the leaves that were spinning crazily. The moment they started to move, Edart changed direction. At the same time, he heard small knocks on the ground right behind him.
— "Pffu. Pffu."
When they saw that their enemy had changed direction, the slimes tried to change the direction of the leaves too, but it was too late.
They didn't give up, calculating the next place where their opponent would be. One of the slimes started to create vines that remained hidden in the ground, waiting for its target. The other slime continued to create more leaves.
Their strategy could work against other enemies, however, Edart had a great watchman to keep an eye on the battlefield and warn him of any changes.
— ["One of the slimes is creating vines on the ground, they want to catch you by surprise."] His watchman warned him.
— "Where?" Edart asked.
— ["Two meters ahead."] Eris replied.
Edart didn't change direction or stop, he continued steadily forward.
If he could read the slimes' emotions, he would feel how happy they were for their fool of an enemy to run straight into their trap. They began to feel that the fear in their cores was meaningless.
Just as they were about to trap their enemy, they saw something that made their cores freeze in fear.
Edart had reached the vines, at this point, instead of continuing forward, he pushed off with his right leg, changing his trajectory to a diagonal to the left and gaining a little height from the ground.
That was enough for him to avoid the vines and, with a swing of his sword, he cut them into pieces.
— "How incredible." He said to himself in a low voice. Ever since he arrived in this world and gained a little strength, Edart had not let himself go in a fight. His body can now do things he never imagined doing on earth. This encouraged him to go after more power.
Meanwhile, fear froze the slimes in place. Not missing this opportunity, Edart precisely hit the core of the closest slime.
He needed the cores, but he could not let himself be at a disadvantage, you never know when an unforeseen event might happen.
The slime that witnessed its partner being killed came out of its stupor. Unfortunately, he barely managed to jump twice when he felt two cuts on his back, and soon the world went dark.
— "One fight is over, now let's move on to the next." He said as he picked up the core from the ground.
— ["I only see groups of 3 nearby, are you sure you want to continue?"]
— "Yes, I feel like I can still go further. Show me the way."
— ["To the west, it's the weakest group."]
Edart nodded and headed in that direction.
…
As he moved towards the slimes, the terrain also underwent some changes. Stones began to come out of the ground and project into the sky.
Their size varied, ranging from a few centimeters to 2 or 3 meters tall.
— "I see two slimes. One of the earth element and the other of the water element. However, there's still one missing." Edart spotted two slimes close to each other, however, Eris had said there were 3. Without delay, she spoke.
— ["He's far away from the others. From our position, he's hiding behind a rock in the 2 o'clock direction."]
— "Understood." He replied.
This battlefield was different from the others, there were many rocks that Edart could trip over if he wasn't paying attention. With that in mind, he tried to get as close as possible before the slimes noticed him.
— "Eris, let me know if those two stop what they're doing."
She just nodded with a noise of confirmation.
Edart wasted no time and began approaching them. Going from rock to rock that could hide him. Since he couldn't charge directly at the slimes, he thought it best to have cover against their long-range attacks.
It didn't take long for him to be noticed.
— ["They've noticed you and are starting to manipulate the mana around them. Be careful."] Eris warned.
He hoped to get closer before he was noticed, but it didn't matter. Looking over the rock, Edart saw that there was no attack ready. Taking advantage of this, he stepped out from behind the rock and started running.
He regretted not bringing a spear with him, at this point it would be an easy thing for him to eliminate the slimes from this distance, even if he had to sacrifice one or two cores.
Getting close to the slimes, Edart saw that the earth slime had encapsulated itself in an earth shield. Not sure if his sword could get through, he focused on the water slime.
Eris had warned that this slime was concentrating a lot of elemental mana, but no attack could be seen. Trying to finish it off before it could, he attacked with all his strength.
— "Take this!" He shouted as he struck downwards, hitting the slime's side, where he easily cut it, opening a deep cut in its body.
The slime let out a grunt and its body trembled a little, but it wasn't enough to kill it.
Edart wasted no time and raised his sword for another strike. He wanted that core, so he tried his best to avoid it.
As his sword descended for another strike, a sphere of water formed between him and the slime. When he managed to touch the other side of the slime, this sphere shot towards him, hitting precisely his chest.
— "Ahhhgrr!" Edart was thrown away from the slime, only managing to open a small cut in the blue slime.
— ["Edart! Are you okay? I'm sorry, the slime's attack was too fast, I didn't have time to warn you."] Eris spoke, agitated and worried for him.
— "I'm fine, don't worry. Pay attention to the battle." It was a lie and they both knew it. That attack took away 15 health points and breathing became a difficult task.
With the help of his sword, Edart stood up and looked at the slimes. Although he didn't receive any messages, he could see what blue was in its last moments.
Shifting his focus, he saw that the earth slime had made a shell of earth around its body and small rocks were forming on top of it.
— "There's no other way." Edart didn't want to attack a tank in close combat while he could fight back. Not wanting to be an easy target, he began to chant.
— "Oh, great world, the power of powers…"
As he chanted the phrase of the spell, Edart began to reposition himself.
— "Give me the power to summon fire from within volcanoes, …"
The brown slime didn't let Edart do whatever he wanted. Feeling comfortable inside his cocoon, he began to try to hit his enemy with rocks, shooting at him like a weapon.
— "…concentrated on a fireball, so I can throw it at my enemies and reduce them to ash."
Edart managed to dodge these attacks majestically, hiding behind some rocks. Ready to launch his fireball, he came out of his hiding place and pointed his left hand at the slime.
Without delay, he shouted.
— "Fireball."
At that moment, a green vine wrapped itself around his hand and pulled it out. Taking the earth slime out of Edart's sights.
— "Oh, no." He said in shock.
Edart and Eris were startled by the appearance of this vine. After Edart suffered that blow, the two focused on this slime, trying to end the fight as quickly as possible without taking any more damage.
In the meantime, they forgot an important fact. This fight was not against two slimes, but three.
The green slime, who was far away, felt the agitation in the mana around him. Curious about this, he went to investigate.
When he got close to his friends, he saw something that made his core freeze, it was the enemy of his race. However, seeing that they had the advantage, his fear was appeased, giving him the courage to fight and help his companions.
