Edart saw his fireball fly out of his hand, unfortunately it wasn't in the direction he wanted.
— "Boom!" The fireball flew until it found a rock in its path. The moment it touched the solid surface of the rock, it burst into flames, leaving a dark mark.
Seeing his attack fall far from its target, Edart turned his head to the new opponent in this fight.
— "You!" He said in a confusion of emotions. He was surprised and angry at the same time. Angry for wasting mana and for forgetting that there was another enemy nearby.
He was surprised to see that these slimes were smarter than he thought. This little green slime managed to use its vine to deflect the attack he was about to launch.
Edart didn't stand still, as soon as he recovered from the initial shock, he used his sword to cut the vine that held his left arm. With a firm and strong cut, he freed himself from his bonds.
At the same moment, he ran towards the green slime.
— ["Edart, I'm sorry, I ended up focusing only on the slime in front of us, and completely forgot about the other one. My…"] Eris apologized to him, as she blamed herself for him missing the attack. In her voice, he could feel that she was almost crying, although he didn't know how that was possible.
After he took a water attack straight to his chest, she focused on the earth slime, trying to predict its next attacks. With that, she also ended up forgetting about the other slime.
Edart didn't blame her for what happened, as he also made the mistake of forgetting about his enemies, so he interrupted her in the middle of what she was saying.
— "It wasn't your fault, we both forgot about that slime. Don't blame yourself for that. Now I need you to pay attention to the brown slime and warn me of its attacks." With that, he hoped that she would forget about what happened and focus on the fight.
Her advance was interrupted by a rain of leaves that spun at high speed.
— "If I had a spear with me, this fight would be over already." He complained to himself as he hid between two large rocks to avoid the leaves and rocks that the two slimes were continuously attacking.
Unable to stay in this situation, Edart tried to think of something. He could throw another fireball, but he didn't want to waste his mana on these slimes.
— "Let's go back to the beginning then." Edart bent down and picked up a rock. Since he had nothing else to throw, the good old rock would do.
— ["Get out of there, Edart! Now!"] Eris shouted in his ears.
Edart was still crouched when Eris screamed. Without thinking, he somersaulted forward twice before he was able to get up and hide behind another rock.
Right after the first somersault, a sharp pillar of earth appeared where he was hiding. For a matter of seconds, his body was not pierced by this pillar.
— "Thank you!" He thanked her.
With this attack, the barrage of attacks that had previously been hitting him stopped. Taking advantage of this time of calm, he ran off again.
Seeing the green slime that was looking at the pillar of earth, Edart prepared to throw the stone.
Activating 'Accurate Shot' and using all the levels of the 'Throwing' skill, he aimed and threw the stone with all his strength.
The stone flew towards its target, in an instant it hit the slime precisely on the side, which ended up rolling twice.
As the stone flew, Edart approached, preparing to attack.
When the slime managed to regain its balance. In his vision, the tip of a sword protruded from its body. Without understanding anything, darkness took over him and his body went limp.
— "One less." Edart said as he quickly retrieved his sword from the slime's body.
The brown slime was still in the same place since the fight began. Seeing his last ally leaving this world, he prepared another attack in an attempt to get revenge.
A rain of rocks began to fall on Edart, who ran looking for somewhere to take shelter.
Unable to approach directly, Edart went from rock to rock, hiding from the attacks as he approached.
He didn't throw any rocks and didn't even intend to use his sword against this slime, as he felt it wouldn't have much effect against its earth armor.
As he approached, he chanted the spell. When he got close enough, he stood behind a large rock, waiting for the slime to create a pillar of earth over its feet. Which didn't take long.
— ["Now Edart"] Eris warned him.
Coming out from behind the rock, he raised his left hand and shouted.
— "Fireball!"
As soon as he finished shouting, a small fireball flew towards the slime. Three seconds later, it hit the slime and burst into flames, throwing the slime against a rock in the opposite direction of Edart.
— "It wasn't enough." Edart said, stunned, as he didn't receive any message in his vision.
Wasting no time and not wanting to let the slime recover, he began to advance.
When the smoke cloud created by the explosion dissipated, Edart saw the slime with its armor in pieces. Although it had survived the attack, it still suffered great damage. If it weren't for its armor, it wouldn't be here anymore.
Seeing the slime trying to close the holes in its armor, he realized that he didn't have much time to act. Since the slime wasn't paying attention to him, he took advantage of the opportunity to advance and inflict as much damage as possible.
Soon, the familiar messages appeared in his vision. He stopped attacking and used 'Collect' to recover the core, then set off for the next battle.
…
— ["He's alone."] Eris confirmed.
— "Very well, let's try our best."
— ["Okay."] Eris said, a little apprehensive about the battle that was to come.
Once again on an open battlefield, with no obstacles to hinder his movement, Edart ran directly towards his opponent, who soon noticed him approaching.
Edart knew that this wasn't the best way to do things, but since his sneaking method wasn't working anymore, getting as close as possible in the shortest amount of time was the best way he could find to get close.
As he ran, he noticed a strange phenomenon happening above the slime's head. The air began to ripple like it does on a road on very hot days, where the hot air seems to rise in waves.
Trying to focus on the battle, Edart ignored it and continued to run.
— ["Edart, the slime is going to attack."] Eris warned him.
Upon hearing this, Edart looked at the slime more closely, however, he didn't see any possible attack. Confused, he asked Eris.
— "Where is the attack coming from?"
— ["Get down!"] Eris shouted in his ear.
Edart didn't understand, however, he trusted her. Since he was running, he wouldn't have time to stop, so he could only throw himself to the ground.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.
— "Ahhgrrrr!" He screamed in pain.
Edart rolled on the ground, at the same time, his blood spreading across his shirt. When he finally stopped rolling, he put his hand to his left shoulder and felt his wet shirt.
When he looked at his shoulder, he saw a large tear from which blood was pouring. Despite the pain that hit his mind, he managed to think quickly and stuck his hand in search of the 'Life Ball'. Taking 3 of the 4 he had, he put them in his mouth and began to chew.
Soon, a heat took over his body and his shoulder tingled like hell as his cut healed. He wanted to scratch it non-stop, but he managed to resist.
All of this took only a few moments.
— ["Edart, start moving now. Go, go, go!"] Eris shouted. She was super worried about him, however, the battle had already started and the slime wouldn't stop for them to heal. Holding back all her worry, she told him to move, as the next attacks were coming.
Edart got up and started running, circling the slime. As soon as he left the place where he fell, a cloud of dust rose. As he ran, more clouds appeared behind him.
Not understanding what was happening, he spoke to Eris, to see if she knew anything.
— "Eris, how is this slime attacking? I can't see any of its attacks."
— ["Activate 'Mana Perception', it's using the air to create blades of wind. You will be able to see the concentrated mana if you activate the skill."]
Wasting no time, Edart activated his skill and the world around him lit up in a flash. He almost lost his balance and fell.
— "I see," he said, finally seeing the enemy's attacks.
— "Now you won't be able to catch me by surprise." Being able to see the attacks approaching him, Edart changed direction and began to approach the slime again.
