Amy settled down and soon she became used to life in Portugal. With the help of her friendly neighbour Milo, she was able to start her business where she sells clothes for women and ladies.
The business started growing steadily and with time she was making a steady income.
'Wow, life couldn't get any better. If I had known that this is what being free looked like, I would have left America a long time ago.' she said to herself one day.
Amy woke up that morning as she felt the sunlight streaming into her face. She yawned as she took the duvet out of her body.
'What a nice morning to be alive,' she said to herself.
She looked out her window and saw her friendly neighbors walking up and down. She checked the time.
'Oh no, it's already past 10am. I'm late for my work,' she said.
Although she was the owner of the shop, she also doesn't like going late. She stood up and decided to go to the kitchen to make breakfast to eat.
As she walked into the kitchen, she saw her to-do list for the day. First she was to go to a store, then go to get groceries before coming back.
She also remembered that she needed to stock up her store by the weekend. She also noticed that she had not made an account for her finance recently.
'Milo will not be happy when he comes and finds out that I am being lackadaisical about my finance.'
Milo has always been caring towards her and always told her to make sure she took account of her finance so she would know if she was getting profit or losses. She smiled and thanked God for the gift of having Milo as a friend.
She decided that morning that she was going to make breakfast. She went to her kitchen cabinet, brought out eggs to make an omelette. But the minute she perceived the smell of the eggs, she felt like throwing up.
She quickly ran to the bathroom and she threw up.
'What is wrong with me? I hope I am not falling sick,' she said to herself.
She came out of the bathroom after rinsing her mouth. She suddenly lost her appetite and refused to eat again. Just then she heard a knock on the door.
'Who might this be? It is so early in the morning,' she said to herself.
She opened the door and said that it was her neighbour and friend Milo.
"Hey Milo, how are you doing?" She greeted him.
"I am fine, Amy. How are you," he asked her.
"I am good. Please do come," she said to him.
"Thank you," he answered.
Milo entered inside the house and made himself comfortable on the chair.
Amy locked the door and went to meet Milo. She wanted to sit down on the chair opposite him, but she certainly felt dizzy and had to hold the chair for support.
Milo looked at her and noticed that something was wrong with her. He became worried.
"Are you okay, Amy? You look pale." He said to her.
"Oh, I'm fine. I think I've been stressed lately. I just feel a little feverish." Amy explained.
"Then, I will take you to the hospital immediately." Milo said standing up.
"Oh, Milo, please, don't stress yourself. I will do that at the close of work today."
"No," Melo insisted. "If you don't want me to take you to the hospital myself, then I suggest that you go this morning." He said to her
"All right, fine. I'll do as you have said." Amy accepted. "So what brings you here," she asked him.
"Nothing. I was passing by and I said to just say hello to my neighbor."
"Thank you very much." Ssaid to Milo.
Milo stood up and made to leave.
"I will see you when I come back from work." He said to her.
'All right, take care." Amy told him and then he left the house.
Amy went to take a bath and she contemplated going to the hospital. She decided to change her mind.
She would just go straight to her shop, and when she was coming back, she would go to the hospital. Suddenly, she had a notification on her phone.
When she checked it, she saw that it was my period calendar, and it was showing that my period was late.
Then, it suddenly hit her. She had not seen her period for the past one month.
She had initially thought that it was due to stress and that it would come back, but then something just doesn't feel right.
Her mind went back to the last time she spent with Luke before she left the house.
'Oh, no. Hope you know what I'm thinking.' She said to herself.
Amy quickly ran out of the house and went to a pharmacy.
"Hello, good morning." She greeted the receptionist.
"Good morning, how may we be of help to you?" The receptionist asked her.
"Please, I need a pregnancy test strip." Amy answered.
The receptionist gave her the test strip and she paid for it. She could not bring herself to go to work, in case maybe she find out that her suspicions were right. Instead, she went back home.
Amy got into her house and went straight to the bathroom and she decided to take the test. She closed her eyes as she waited for the result to come out. And true to her suspicions, she saw the two red lines on the pregnancy strip.
'Oh no, I am dead.' She said as she placed her hand over her mouth.
'I cannot be pregnant, this is the wrong time for me to have a baby.' She said to herself.
She did not know what to do. She started contemplating on different course of actions to take.
'Should I keep this baby or should I remove it.' she asked herself.
She was short of words and speechless and for the first time since she left Luke's house, she burst into tears.
