Chapter 3 - Flame Clawed Wolf1

In this life, Bai Qi, or rather Leo, didn't have many desires.

He simply wanted to be able to protect and provide for himself and his little brother Shawn. Even more so since their parents died four years ago.

The attribute panel was something that had been with Leo ever since he crossed over, and it was almost as mysterious as Leo's transmigration.

Apart from the documentation of his Stats and vital skills, he was able to use it to improve any of the two variables using Energy.

Leo categorized 100% Energy as one Energy Point, since it was the basic point that could be used to upgrade anything.

One Energy Point could improve any Stat by 0.1.

Two of them were also used to upgrade the Spiritual Totem Technique, which were found in a ruin in his previous life, from Level Two to Level Three, as the cost doubled for each successive tier.

The Stats of an adult male averaged at 1.

A labourer had around 1.2 in Strength, and Olympic level weightlifters back on Earth had a Strength of roughly 1.8.

The hunters in Heart Village had physical stats averaging 1.2.

The way of gaining Energy was fairly simple. It was through food consumption.

However, it was incredibly inefficient, as a single meal usually gave only 0.5% Energy.

Recollecting his thoughts, Leo's gaze turned slightly sharper as he thought of tomorrow's hunting expedition. The edges of his mouth curled upward as his fighting spirit was ignited.

"Flame Clawed Wolf. Hehehe..."

Without further delay, he entered his hut and

closed the door, laying down to rest in preparation for the next day .

...

Seventeen men dressed in lackluster leather armor stood in an open field. Two other men, obviously of higher standing, stood in front of them.

One of them was merely a golden haired youth, but the sharpness in his eyes seemed to say otherwise.

"As some of us may have heard, a Flame Clawed Wolf was sighted near the vicinity of Heart Village. I need not emphasize the potential dangers of this development...

"We cannot sleep well knowing that such a beast is near us. Of course, if we can successfully kill it, we will reap great rewards. And so, that is the reason we gathered here today."

Ralph, one of the lead hunters of the village said in a clear and loud voice.

Turning his head, he addressed Leo;

"Do you want to add anything else?"

Leo shook his head slightly, an indifferent expression on his face.

"Okay, let's get ready then." Ralph yelled.

The group prepared their weapons in a determined fashion, while glancing at Leo occasionally.

The main source of the apparent respect shown to Leo, was due to an event that happened nearly a year ago.

Exactly one year ago, a Yellow Panther broke into the village, and would have claimed a few lives if not for Leo's timely intervention.

Just for comparison, a Yellow Panther was the size of a male Mountain Lion, with superior agility.

So you can imagine the shock the villagers felt when he defeated such a beast with relative ease.

About ten minutes later, Ralph signaled the other hunters.

"Let's move out!"

After entering the wilderness surrounding the village, the hunters became alert, and visibly more cautious.

Leo, and some of the more agile hunters, led at the forefront, acting as scouts.

After searching for more than half an hour without any result, Ralph became impatient.

"Let's spread out in groups and carpet sweep the area. I refuse to believe that we won't find this vile beast.

We meet at the large Bayan tree in an hour."

Ralph said quickly.

Leo frowned but didn't say anything.

He grouped up with three random people and they stepped even deeper into the forest.

As time passed, Leo started feeling a dangerous vibe in the air.

His eyes focused on their surroundings as he scrutinized each and every movement in the area.

A few minutes passed, until it finally happened. A shrill scream pierced through the air.

"AAAAAHHH!!!"
