**Chapter 5**
After parting ways with Mito, Adam continued his journey through the forest, spending several days hunting wild animals for food and sleeping high in the trees. While he enjoyed the tranquility of the forest, he knew it was time to leave and find a town or village to gather information. His current knowledge was only basic, and he needed more to navigate this unfamiliar world.
Lost in thought as he walked, Adam's Rikugan suddenly picked up movement ahead. His senses immediately sharpened as he noticed a figure emerging from a cave in a rush. *A camp? How many people?* Adam quickly assessed the situation. *One person is outside, probably to relieve himself—an easy kill. If he takes too long, someone else will come to check on him. Maybe two more. I could eliminate all three quietly and prevent them from alerting anyone inside the cave.*
As the man turned his back, Adam readied a few bone needles. Waiting for the perfect moment, he coated the needles in wind chakra, making them rotate at high speed. With precision, he shot the needle toward the man's head. The man was dead before he even knew what happened, his body crumpling to the ground without a sound.
Changing his position, Adam observed the cave entrance. His Rikugan scanned the interior, counting five people inside. *Hmm, they're strong—about three times the chakra of the Fujiwara monkeys.*
One of the men inside finally emerged to check on his fallen comrade, covering his eyes from the sun as he stretched and yawned. "Yosuke! Hurry the hell up! You said you were just taking a piss. What's taking so long?" The man walked down the path, seemingly relaxed, but Adam wasn't fooled. *Interesting. He's on guard but trying to appear casual. It looks like I've been discovered.*
Adam noticed the other four inside were lying in wait. *How fun. Five against one. I wonder how I'll win this.* A grin crept onto his face as he readied himself for the confrontation. He sent six chains through the ground, each one poised to strike. Floating in mid-air, bone needles augmented with wind chakra spun furiously, ready to pierce through flesh. With a gesture, Adam sent a few needles flying at high speed toward the man outside the cave, intending to eliminate him quickly.
But the man was quick to react. Flashing through hand signs, he shouted, "Earth Wall!" A barrier rose from the ground, blocking the needles. *How stupid, shouting out your jutsu like that,* Adam thought, but he was already analyzing the technique, memorizing the chakra molding process.
Once he understood the Earth Wall, Adam decided to experiment with some moves he had been itching to try. Channeling wind chakra through three chains, fire through one, and water through another, he prepared to create what he liked to call a "Hell Zone" inside the cave. Ignoring the blabbering man outside, Adam focused on the chains, guiding them toward the hidden group. Once the chains were in position beneath the cave, he combined wind and fire chakras. A powerful gust erupted from the ground, blasting through the cave roof. Not giving them a moment to react, Adam followed up with a stream of fire from the chains, amplifying it with wind chakra. The cave was instantly engulfed in searing heat.
Two of the men were caught in the flames—one dead, the other gravely injured. The remaining three managed to escape, regrouping with the man outside. "Haneki, did you find out where he's hiding?" one of the men asked.
"No, sorry. He's hidden extremely well. I can't sense anything," Haneki replied.
Ignoring their chatter, Adam repositioned the chains beneath them, preparing a new combination. He merged wind and fire chakra again, creating a blazing scarlet sphere of scorching heat. At the same time, he combined wind and water chakra, causing the temperature to plummet as the air rapidly cooled. The chains moved stealthily beneath the men, the temperature shift catching them off guard. Before they could react, Adam's ice chakra surged, freezing the ground beneath them with alarming speed. The ice burst from the earth, freezing three of the men in place while two narrowly escaped.
Adam turned his attention to his new creation—a deadly fusion of elements. As he brought the scorch and ice chakras together, he carefully balanced them, ensuring one didn't overpower the other. The temperature in the area became chaotic, fluctuating between searing heat and bone-chilling cold. Suddenly, something extraordinary happened. Instead of the acidic effect he had produced before, a new phenomenon emerged: a white, bone-colored flame shimmered into existence, hovering just above the ground.
The flame was an anomaly—a paradoxical force that both burned and froze anything it touched. It emanated a cold that penetrated to the bone, while its heat scorched from within. Adam, with his bullet-time perception active, studied the flame in awe. *This is incredible. What I did before was just a basic application—superheating ice or cold water inside a body to create poisonous vapor and acidic water. But this… this is something entirely new.*
He watched as the flame, seemingly alive, interacted with the environment. The bodies of the fallen men began to turn to ash, their forms disintegrating under the relentless assault of the flame's dual nature. *The scorch chakra must be causing that,* Adam mused, realizing the destructive potential of his creation. *A flame that freezes and burns at the same time—a true anomaly.*
As the last remnants of the men turned to white powder, Adam named his new technique. "The Bone-Chilling Flame," he whispered to himself, proud of his achievement. *I'm so damn awesome at everything I do.*
Snapping out of his reverie, Adam noticed the remaining two men had taken the opportunity to flee. Scanning the area with his Rikugan, he located them quickly. *Tch, what losers. Not like they'll get far. All they're doing is making me work a bit more.* Adam looks over to the injured man that he hit earlier with his wind fire combination in the cave, the monkey looked like he was trying to play dead. With a amused smirk Adam sent the bone chilling flame over to him and watched as he turned to ash.
With that done, Adam flashed off to chase the rest of the monkeys down, his mind already buzzing with ideas on how to refine his new technique further.
