Chapter 10: Uchiha Clan Conflict
In this era, the very mention of the Uchiha clan strikes fear into the hearts of many. A clan known for its power, influence, and ruthless nature, the Uchiha are seen as a behemoth on the battlefield. Their name carries with it the weight of dominance, their fierce reputation only tempered by the equally formidable Senju clan, their mortal enemies. The Senju, known for their indomitable will and extraordinary defense, are the only thing standing between the Uchiha and complete domination.
The lands of the Uchiha are as formidable as the clan itself, an austere territory nestled within rugged hills. The village is surrounded by dark forests, their trees standing tall like silent sentinels, and the compound itself is a stark reflection of the clan's nature—fortified, imposing, and filled with the ominous energy of those who live there. The air around the Uchiha lands is thick with tension, as if the very ground is alive with the echoes of past battles.
Within the compound, three figures stood together—two men and a woman. Madara and Izuna, the famed brothers of the Uchiha, stood side by side, their dark cloaks billowing in the wind. Next to them was their younger sister, Shiori, her white hair a stark contrast to the dark, brooding landscape around them.
"Shiori, don't worry about the battlefield," Izuna said gently, his tone brotherly but firm. "Just continue honing your abilities here at home."
Shiori glanced between her two brothers, her violet eyes narrowing with frustration. "I know, Izuna, but it's frustrating not being able to help you and Elder Brother. Every time you go to the battlefield, I stay behind and pray that one of you doesn't come back in a body bag."
Her voice wavered slightly, betraying the fear she kept hidden behind her strong exterior. Despite being a skilled shinobi herself, Shiori had always felt the weight of being left behind. Her heart ached every time her brothers left for battle, knowing that the Uchiha's war with the Senju was far from over.
Madara, his normally stoic expression softening at his youngest sibling's concern, stepped forward and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Shiori. There's no way I would leave you and Izuna alone in this world."
Pulling his younger sister close, Madara allowed himself a rare moment of affection. He gently patted her bright, unique white hair, a trait that set her apart even among the Uchiha. Despite his fearsome reputation, Madara had a deep bond with his siblings, and Shiori, as the youngest, held a special place in his heart.
"Alright, Elder Brother, I trust you," Shiori said quietly, her voice softening. "Just… stay safe, okay?"
She pulled away, her violet eyes lingering on Madara's face for a moment before turning to leave. Izuna, who had been standing quietly, let out a small sigh of annoyance, crossing his arms.
"You spoil her too much, Elder Brother," Izuna remarked, watching Shiori's retreating figure.
Madara smirked, his onyx eyes glinting in the fading light. "I didn't take you for the jealous type, Izuna. It's natural for me to give our youngest more attention."
Izuna huffed, his annoyance apparent. "It's not jealousy. It's just that you let her get away with too much. She should be focusing on her training instead of worrying about us all the time."
Madara chuckled softly but quickly schooled his expression back into seriousness. The lightness between them vanished as the weight of reality settled once more. Izuna's gaze shifted to his brother's eyes, noticing the faint cloudiness that had begun to take hold.
"Brother… your eyes," Izuna said, his voice filled with concern. "You overused the Mangekyō too much in the last battle…"
Madara waved off the concern with a dismissive gesture, though he couldn't fully mask the strain in his voice. "Don't worry, Izuna. I can still fight. My eyesight hasn't deteriorated too badly."
Izuna frowned, not believing his brother's lie. He could see the toll the constant use of the Mangekyō Sharingan had taken on Madara. His once sharp vision was now dimming, the price of power coming at the cost of his sight.
"Brother, take my eyes," Izuna suddenly offered, his voice resolute. "I don't mind giving them to you. I'm already quite useless in battle."
Madara's expression hardened, his eyes narrowing at the suggestion. "No, Izuna. Never mention this again. I will not take your eyes to gain power, no matter how desperate I become."
Izuna's resolve only deepened. His thoughts drifted back to the battlefield where he had been nearly killed by Tobirama Senju, saved only by the intervention of Adam, a mysterious figure whose allegiance was still unknown. The memory of his near-death weighed heavily on him, fueling his desire to help his brother in any way he could.
"But, Brother—"
"No, Izuna," Madara interrupted firmly. "You're not useless. You just got caught off guard by that annoying Senju."
Izuna's determination didn't waver, but he let the subject drop for the moment. Instead, a new thought struck him, and his eyes lit up with sudden realization.
"Brother… Father didn't seem as shocked as we expected when he saw our Mangekyō," Izuna said slowly, piecing the puzzle together. "I think he has either awakened it himself or already knows about it from prior users. We should confront him and confirm."
Madara's eyes darkened at the mention of their father, Tajima Uchiha. He had been suspecting the same thing, but there was always an unease when it came to facing their father. Tajima was a man driven by power, someone who valued strength above all else, even family. But Madara's eyesight was failing, and if there was any chance of regaining his vision without harming Izuna, he had to take it.
"Very well," Madara agreed after a moment of contemplation. "It's about time we handed in our reports to him anyway."
Tajima Uchiha, the current head of the Uchiha clan, sat cross-legged on a tatami mat behind a small desk in his private quarters. The room was dimly lit by a single candle, casting long shadows that danced along the wooden walls. Tajima's presence was as imposing as ever, his dark eyes sharp and calculating as he read through a series of reports.
The Uchiha compound was quiet, the only sound being the faint rustle of wind outside. It was the calm before the storm.
Tajima's attention shifted as the door to his room slid open. Madara and Izuna stepped inside, their expressions unreadable. Tajima's gaze swept over them, his lips curling into a slight frown.
"Madara, Izuna," Tajima greeted them with a voice that held little warmth. He stood up, his towering figure casting a long shadow over the room. "I'm disappointed. You both failed the mission to drastically weaken the Senju, even with your evolved Sharingan."
Madara's jaw clenched, but he kept his face neutral. Izuna, standing beside him, was the first to speak.
"Father, we encountered an unexpected factor," Izuna began, his voice steady. "There's a new player involved—someone powerful, but not aligned with any known clan. His name is Adam."
"Adam?" Tajima raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A new player, you say? It's best if we can recruit him as an ally for the Uchiha. Otherwise, it would be wise to eliminate him before he allies with the Senju."
Tajima's words were unsurprising to Madara and Izuna, who had grown up hearing their father's disdain for the Senju. His obsession with power and domination often blinded him to the bonds of family and loyalty. For him, everything was a tool for war—including his children.
"Hmm, perhaps we could orchestrate a situation," Tajima mused aloud, his voice growing darker. "Have the Hagoromo clan send members disguised as Senju to attack him, while Uchiha forces 'happen' to be nearby to save him. Earning his favor would be wise."
As Tajima rambled on about his plans to manipulate Adam, both Madara and Izuna exchanged a glance. The unspoken understanding between them was clear.
Then, Tajima's tone shifted, his voice dripping with malice. "Or perhaps… I could use that half-breed daughter of mine, Shiori. Have her seduce him and tie him to the Uchiha. But for now, I'll consider arranging her marriage to the Fire Daimyo's youngest son, Bunta."
Madara's anger ignited like a wildfire at the mention of Shiori being sold off to the Daimyo's son—a man known for his vile nature. His Sharingan activated instinctively, his red eyes swirling with fury. But before he could act, Izuna moved first.
"Amaterasu!" Izuna's voice cut through the air as his left eye flared to life, black flames erupting from the space between them, aimed directly at their father.
Tajima dodged with shocking speed, his own Mangekyō Sharingan flaring to life. In an instant, he disappeared, reappearing behind Izuna with his sword drawn, the blade already slicing through the air toward Izuna's neck.
Madara's heart stopped as time seemed to slow. His right eye began to bleed as his Mangekyō Sharingan activated its unique ability—time itself rewound as Madara witnessed his brother's death a split second before it happened.
Reacting just in time, Madara unleashed his full Susanoo, the massive blue chakra avatar materializing around him. He dashed in front of Izuna, the sword clashing against Susanoo's armor with a deafening crash.
Izuna's eyes widened in shock as he activated his own Susanoo, the purple giant forming around him. "Elder Brother?"
Madara's voice was tense, his eyes burning with rage. "Izuna, that bastard can slow down time."
Tajima's eyes narrowed as he assessed the situation. "I see… as expected of my eldest son. Your Mangekyō allows you to glimpse into the future."
A red aura began to swirl around Tajima as his own Susanoo materialized, the skeletal structure forming rapidly until it stood as tall as Izuna's. "You've betrayed me for that half-breed? Don't worry, after I kill you both, I'll take care of her too."
His words sent both brothers into a frenzy of rage. Madara materialized a blue chakra sword in his Susanoo's hand, while Izuna channeled his Amaterasu into Madara's attacks, the black flames enhancing their potency.
Tajima's Mangekyō Sharingan spun rapidly as he dodged Madara's initial strike, but the clash of their Susanoo giants reverberated through the compound like a thunderclap. The earth beneath them trembled as chakra clashed with chakra, father and sons locked in a deadly dance of power.
"Izuna, do you have a plan?" Madara shouted, deflecting one of Tajima's strikes with his Susanoo's blade.
Izuna's mind raced, his eyes bleeding from the strain of using his abilities. "There's no such thing as a jutsu without weakness, Elder Brother. Just hold him off for a little longer."
Trusting his brother, Madara pressed the attack, pushing Tajima to his limits. Their chakra giants clashed repeatedly, each strike sending shockwaves through the air. Blood ran down Madara's face as his right eye continued to strain, but he pushed through, knowing that Izuna had a plan.
Izuna, using the last of his chakra, activated his second ability—Flame Control. The black flames of Amaterasu scattered through the air, shaping into sharp spears that rained down upon Tajima's Susanoo.
"ENOUGH!" Tajima roared, his voice filled with fury. He pumped more chakra into his Susanoo, but it was too late. The black flames had already pierced through his defenses, impaling him through the chest.
Tajima's eyes widened in disbelief as his Susanoo faltered. He coughed up blood, his strength rapidly fading. "You…"
With a final gasp, Tajima's body fell limp, the red aura of his Susanoo dissipating into nothingness.
"Izuna!" Madara deactivated his Susanoo and rushed to his brother's side. Izuna was on his knees, breathing heavily, but alive.
"I'm fine, Brother," Izuna said weakly, his voice barely a whisper. "It's just chakra exhaustion. Go… take his eyes."
Madara nodded and walked over to Tajima's lifeless body. Without hesitation, he plucked out his father's Mangekyō Sharingan.
"These eyes… they're yours, Izuna," Madara offered. "You dealt the final blow. You deserve them."
But Izuna shook his head, his voice firm despite his exhaustion. "No, Brother. Your ocular power is stronger than mine. These eyes are more compatible with you."
Madara hesitated but ultimately agreed. He helped Izuna up before sealing Tajima's body in a scroll. "You're right. We'll merge them."
Using a rare sealing technique developed by Izuna, they merged their father's eyes with Madara's, creating a new set of Mangekyō Sharingan. The procedure was painful, but when it was done, Madara felt his power surging, his vision restored and stronger than ever.
Izuna, now recovered, took charge of the clan while Madara recovered from the merging process. When he announced their father's death and Madara's ascension as the new clan head, there was little opposition. Those loyal to Tajima either fell in line or kept their dissent hidden for fear of repercussions.
As Izuna watched the Uchiha clan members disperse, he couldn't help but reflect on how far they had come—and how much further they had yet to go.
