Chapter 14 - The New System (2)

After calming down, Ellis finally decided to open his status window.

[Status]

Name: Ellis Miller

Age: 23

Race: Human

Physique: **** Physique (Incomplete)

[Attributes]

Constitution: F+

Soul: C

Mana: D-

Blank points: 0

Ability: Ephemeral Soul Genesis (Passive)

Skills: Absorption (Passive) Lv.1, Basic Spearmanship (Passive) Lv.1

Seeing how the status window had become a lot shorter, Ellis felt that it was neater this way. Obtaining the legendary physique, even if it was incomplete, felt nice, but seeing its name hidden was also unpleasant. The attributes were surprising; the previous attributes had become just Constitution and Mana, and now there was also Soul, which was the highest. The change from numerical to ranks didn't matter much, but the fact that Constitution was just F+, despite how much stronger Ellis felt, was also surprising.

"Aurora, why is there only one ability? And I don't see anything to indicate levels, so how can I get the Blank points?"

[Due to the shard of **** absorbing some parts of the blessing, it became unusable. So when the **** system was established, I directed these parts to the host's innate talent. After merging and improving, it became the "Ephemeral Soul Genesis" ability.]

[The level function was removed, and Blank points can be obtained through killing others.]

"Then where did the Absorption skill come from? And most importantly, why is the physique incomplete?"

[Due to a side effect of the host absorbing the Nyxara cat's crystal core and a part of your innate ability also getting mixed, the Absorption skill came to be.]

[I don't have authority over anything related to the physique, but absorbing more shards of ** should be helpful.]

While feeling that this "side effect" was just a convenient excuse for the system, the other explanation was convincing, and he still hadn't read the ability and skill descriptions after all. The physique seemed a lot more of a big deal than he had thought, and as for the level system, it didn't matter to Ellis.

Ephemeral Soul Genesis:

Limitless Rebirth: Ephemeral Soul Genesis grants the individual the ability to undergo reincarnation once every five years, either by the individual's choice or in the case of death.

Soul Preservation: In the soul state while reincarnating, the individual is granted protection against outside attacks, ensuring at least absolute protection of the soul essence, and will ensure the soul remains resilient and vibrant throughout the cycles of rebirth.

Flawless Memory Resonance: In each reincarnation, Ephemeral Soul Genesis ensures flawless memory preservation.

Basic Soul Evolution: With each rebirth, the soul will be nourished by elements and laws of the world, becoming stronger and more potent.

Basic World's Affinity: The evolving affinity within Ephemeral Soul Genesis extends beyond a certain element. It develops a thin connection from the individual's soul to the world, amplifying the individual's affinity with it and enhancing the base affinities with the passage of time.

"Wow," Ellis muttered, opening the long description of the ability and reading it. He couldn't help but feel it was overpowered. The vague description of the blessing from before now made a lot more sense, and the fact that he no longer had to fear death felt very reassuring. While the part about absorbing a fragment from his killed opponent's soul was removed, which was a little disappointing, the basic world's affinity seemed more highly advantageous. Now he could understand how the Absorption skill came to be, which made a lot more sense.

Absorption (Passive) Lv.1:

You can absorb and process a greater amount of substances through eating. Depending on what you eat, the skill will enhance attributes slightly and provide a slight chance to gain Blank points, while also offering some protection against negative effects from what you consume.

Reading the description of the skill, it didn't feel as overpowered as the "Ephemeral Soul Genesis" ability, but the fact that it was a skill and could be leveled up gave it immense potential.

Basic Spearmanship (Passive) Lv.1:

You have just started learning how to use the spear.

"Why is the spearmanship skill at level 1, and why did the quick increase in proficiency disappear?" Ellis asked, trying not to flare up and deciding to hear the explanation first.

[The quick increase in proficiency was due to the twilight codex system, and I judged it would be better like this for long-term benefits.]

[And even though the increase in proficiency part disappeared, because of your current status and ability, your learning will still be faster.]

Reading the first message, Ellis felt anger rising as the system had decided instead of him, but the second message calmed him down just as quickly. Ellis couldn't help but feel that It had been an emotional roller coaster for him today. But thankfully seeing how he had read everything new in the system and gotten to know what he needed for now, he felt there were probably no more surprises left for the day.

Thinking of his previous plans and what he should do now, and realizing how much stronger he had become, Ellis decided it was time to go to Zarechny and meet his family. Now that he had the ability to reincarnate at will, he could do anything he wanted. The things that caused problems for him previously should be solved, what he faced at the university, strictly speaking, happened mainly because of his father, then his housemate and mother, and lastly, others like the professors and his classmates. But after his housemate died he didn't feel the need to go out of his way just for the professors or his pathetic classmates, and if he happened to encounter them in the future, he could still deal with them as he pleased.

The main issue was his family, and perhaps his ex-girlfriend could also be included in this list, but even lives in Zarechny. Most importantly, he needed to address his relationship with his sister, so Zarechny was his destination.

"Knowing that the distance between Rusford and Zarechny is just 160 km, I could try to find a usable car, but if there isn't one available, running there with my current body would be easy anyway." After deciding his destination and With nothing to prepare, as all his belongings had disintegrated in the gray gate, he simply left with nothing, having faith in his new status.
