Should I use my unassigned points and raise some of my attributes? Is the situation now important enough? Will I not regret it later?
As I started to question myself, I remembered her beautiful face and petite body. But feeling like my lust was trapping me, I turned my attention to other things. Appearance aside, is she special enough? Does she look useful? Did we have any sort of relationship before? Clearly, no, I didn't even know she was living here before.
So, my lust aside, should I help her because it's the right thing to do? Because if I try hard enough I could?
I was starting to feel irritated. Why should I have this argument with myself? Distancing myself from the zombies, I thought again. Why should I help? Because it's the morally right thing to do?Then had my morals ever helped me in life?
"No, it actually made things more difficult for me."
Then why should I worry about her? Is it because she is a beautiful girl? A fellow countryman? For society? Or even humanity?
Hearing her cry for help and annoyed that I couldn't make a decision, I decided to finish the two zombies in front of me first. If she could stay alive till then, it's then I really could say it was my fate to help her.
Facing two zombies head-on while paying some attention to something else was hard, apparently. I struck them many times, but all the injuries they had were not deep enough, and it felt like the girl would not be able to hold on any longer.
Taking a couple of steps back and trying to make some distance between them, I tried to concentrate more on my fight and took a stance that I felt was right and struck with all my might. Feeling my hands tremble a little from the shockwave coming back through the spear and how it tore through its chest, I knew it was my best strike till now.

Without bothering about my level raising or my body getting stronger, I wanted to swing my spear again. But not hearing screams anymore, I glanced past the zombie attacking me to see the girl lying on the ground on her back. The zombie was biting her neck, and her eyes were becoming white.
"What the fuck? How many seconds had it been? Like how come she got bitten that quickly and easily?"
I was awestruck at the stupidity of the situation as a whole. Turning my attention from her a little was enough to doom her, apparently.
Getting distracted by the spectacle I saw, the zombie fighting me was not kind enough to wait but attacked me instead. With his claws inches away from me, I squatted down quickly and rolled to the side. Seeing him still crawling toward me, I jumped to the other side again and struck him with my spear from above. I don't know if it's because my raised attributes or that my spear techniques are getting better, but I could aim at its head correctly. It was a smooth strike.

I couldn't celebrate my hard-earned victory yet, as I saw the third one finishing his prey and coming at me again. Taking my stance again, I had a little fight with him one-on-one.

Taking a breath after I finished my battle, I was tired, maybe not physically because of leveling up but mentally.
"Still, I should finish what I started."
Walking toward the bitten body of the girl, I saw her corpse twitching. She would likely become a zombie in a couple of minutes.
"Unfortunately, we were not fated, that's all."
While saying so, I stared at her face and her blood-stained neck. I could tell that she was young, like she couldn't be older than twenty.
"Maybe you could have had a nice life going forward, but this world was not meant for you. What can I say? I did my best, after all," I said as I swung my spear at her neck, cutting off her head.

Seeing the contrast of blood with her white skin and blonde hair was beautiful, beautiful enough to feel like it was a scene out of some movie. But noticing the system message, how she gave less experience than a normal level 1 zombie, was a wake-up call.
Like the whole thing that happened was disappointing. Even the argument I had with myself prior to the battle feels pointless now.
"Well, it must mean that you were not worth more than 300 experience."
Shaking my head, I was going to go my way, but glancing at her apartment and seeing how she piled some sofas, chairs, and tables in front of one door, I got curious. Entering the apartment and moving the furniture from in front of the door was done quickly with my raised attributes.
Opening the door, what awaited me on the other side was a white cat, bigger than a normal one, of course, but nonetheless still a cat.
The cat was a vision of elegance, with snow-white fur flowing smoothly and large blue eyes, giving the cat an almost otherworldly appearance.
"Like, where the fuck did she pick it? Was it always this beautiful, or is it that after the awakening, it became more beautiful?"
Even as I was questioning myself, I didn't steer my eyes from it. But seeing how it didn't attack immediately and just glared at me was surprising.
"It seems like it also got more intelligence."
Even then, my interest was not piqued enough to keep it. The more important owner was dead, after all, and me not being an animal lover was also a fact.
If it came with its owner as a package, I still could consider it, but one beautiful cat alone didn't feel worth it for me.
