Chereads / The Bastard Billionaire / Chapter 5 - Sacked !

Chapter 5 - Sacked !

Ben Madoff was a little troubled by the statement of Joanna who wasn't straightforward. She said she thinks she wants to become his wife rather simply saying she wants to be his wife. For Ben Madoff, that was so confusing.

"Anyway, i believe this morning you weren't down with the idea of marrying me. You preferred to get the one million dollars. So I want to understand something. What did change between then and now?" he questioned her.

"Well, you can trust human beings. They can change pretty fast, especially young women. And it happens to be that I'm a fresh and young woman," Joanna explained with little humour.

Ben Madoff laughed out loud. He found her so hilarious and told her.

"Hmmm! Obviously you know how to crack jokes! But more seriously, what young lady in the city of the eight heavens wouldn't want to date a Madoff even if he's the most bastard of all Madoffs? One million dollars is peanuts compared to a marriage with the president of the most powerful investment company in Finanz street, isn't it ? The hottest CEO in the city with tremendous amount of money. Am I not right, young lady? he asked Joanna.

In fact, the young woman knew the public figure Ben Madoff very well. Who didn't? The most prominent tycoon in the Star Magazine. The man with many lawsuits for financial scams and sexual abuse. The richest single playboy and the most popular among women.

So, after perusing the letter that Ben Madoff had left for her on the bed table, Joanna was fully aware at that very moment what kind was the man she had saved. A scumbag !

But now, after having been humiliated like never before by Mrs. Goldberg and her medical staff, to put herself with the wealthy womanizer and scammer Ben Madoff was no longer an issue as long as she could have a chance for revenge. What mattered was that her marriage would help her climb to the top and get power.

Although Ben Madoff had all reason to dump her, he was so infatuated by her beauty that he was always ready to forgive her.

"Alright! Then let's pick get wed next week," he surprisingly said.

Joanna took a pause and then answered:

"Why to postpone something we could do now? We can sign our marriage agreement in the next two or three hours. And thus we will be husband and wife," suggested Joanna with seductive eyes.

Ben Madoff was shocked. He pinched himself to see whether he was or not in a dream

Joanna saw his worries and tried to be even more convincing.

"But first my dear, there is something very urgent that I would like you to do for me. I am currently in the city's general hospital to visit my sick mother. However, upon my arrival I met very bad people in her room who wish her death and also that of your wife to be. Please help us, and now!" She added.

Ben Madoff was hesitant. After all, he had only pledged to marry her or to give her money. Solving her personal issues was never part of the agreement.

But thinking back to the harm he had done to her during the famous night after their random encounter, he told himself that this was the opportunity to repent.

"Give me the names of your malefactors!" he asked.

"Well. One of them and their boss is called Mrs. Goldberg and the other prominent member is the director of the city's general hospital: Doctor John," replied Joanna almost shouting on the phone.

"Really? So that what the hospital patron Mrs. Goldberg and Doctor John are doing there to patients. Don't worry! I'm going to do something about it," said Ben Madoff before hanging up on Joanna who put her phone back in her handbag.

Indeed, Ben Madoff through his financial company Madinvestment was the proprietor of the city's general hospital and had entrusted its management to the experienced physician Doctor John who was by the way the brother-in-law of his billionaire best friend Paul Eliott.

Then five minutes later, Ben Madoff called back Joanna.

The cell phone rang quite a few times before she picked as she wanted to grab the attention of Mrs. Goldberg, Doctor John and the rest of the medical staff.

The latter were curious to know who was calling this little and very pretentious young maiden. After a short moment, Joanna sent her hand into handbag and took out her high-end, latest generation satellite cell phone. She looked at the screen and it was indeed the name of who she was expecting: the president of Madinvestment Ben Madoff.

"Hello, darling! It's always sweet to talk to," she said as she accepted the phone call.

"Pass on the phone to Doctor John!", Ben Madoff commanded and Joanna did it immediately.

Doctor John was in shock as well as Mrs. Goldberg and her supporters.

"Just talk and you will know. You better talk. That's not anybody," Joanna said to the director of the city's general hospital who was reluctant to take the call.

Finally he did.

"Allô ! Who's speaking?" He asked.

"Doctor John, Ben Madoff your boss speaking, go back to your office so that you can talk to me without being overheard by Mrs. Goldberg who I know is currently there with you. And above all, don't let her understand that it's me who orders it. I'll call you back once you are there," he said before hanging up abruptly.

Doctor John turned immediately to the patron.

"Mrs. Goldberg, please excuse me, but it's my assistant calling me. A medical emergency in the other block, she told me. I have to go," Doctor John pretended and left while running.

Meanwhile, Ben Madoff took a moment to think about how to solve the unusual matter. He first thought about the option of sacking Doctor John from his position, but the fear of sowing discord between his best friend Paul Eliott and him came across. So, he froze the idea.

However, on the other hand, there was the risk that Joanna could out of anger decide to tell the Star Magazine about what he had done to her the night following their encounter. And that was out of the question for Ben Madoff who didn't another sexual scandal worth of multimillion dollars compensation.

Ben Madoff feared like one else the paparazzis and sharks of the Star Magazine. Imagining the headlines, he fell sick.

At that moment, it became clear to him what he had to do: sacrifice his best friend's brother-in-law and thus save himself and his business. In Finanz street a good name mattered more than anything.

So he took his phone and dialed Doctor John's personal phone number. The latter was already in his office as ordered. He picked up the call with fast heartbeats.

"Hello boss!" he said with a heavy breathing.

"Doctor John , I am really sorry, but you are sacked. Miss Joanna Norton, my future wife replaces you immediately," Ben Madoff announced thunderously.
