Light almost silent footsteps echoed in the hallway.
The group of servants walked to the only room in the hallway and knocked.
Winter rubbed her face groggily and looked up from her pillow.
She stood up and walked to the door opening the huge door.
"Good morning young mistress" Saint bowed respectfully.
The maids behind him bowed rather reluctantly because Saint was here and he might lock them in his spell prison.
Saint was a very powerful wizard back before he became Josephina butler out of choice and a little coaxing. He is still very powerful due to diligently exercising everyday.
There is a rumor he became Josephina butler because of Winter and that he has been the one taking care of her since when she was a baby and everyone knows that after Josephina he is next on the doting spoiling Winter everyway he could.
So they wouldn't even dare to offend Winter in his presence but they are sure to get back at her when he is gone.
"Good morning Saint"
Winter said her voice hoarse from just waking. She squinted at the maids behind Saint and smiled sarcastically.
'now that am not old Winter I should get establish myself starting from this maids'
Winter walked back into the room.
"I told you to always put on your slippers, you might catch a cold from walking around barefooted" Saint reprimanded.
Winter pursed her walking and purposely looked at one of the maids.
"I guess someone forgot to place them near my bed or anywhere in my room. Infact I don't think I have any slippers left.
Care to explain what caused that?"
She walked up to the maid and patted her shoulder.
The maid panicked and stuttered" I don't know about that don't accuse me falsely"
The maid forcefully pushed Winter off her completely forgetting about Saint in the room.
Saint eyes turned cold as he walked up to the maid.
"Wait!" Winter stopped him.
The maid thought'hmmf she knows what is good for her'
Winter walked up to the maid smiling.
Smack!
The maid held her face astonished and angry by the fact that this little twerp slapped her.
"How dare you?!"
Blinded by the anger the maid raised her hand glowing in magical lights.
Several vines sprouted from the ground going towards Winter in fast.
Winter eyes turned cold and serious quickly dodging the vines and grabbed the maid locking her neck.
"Let go of me!" The maid tried to pull her off but didn't succeed.
Snap!
Winter snap the maid's neck killing her. The vines swaying blindly in the air disappeared as their caster had died.
Saint looked shocked before looking proud.
The rest of the maids looked scared as Winter turned to them.
How can this waste do this, when did she get the courage even in front of Saint.
They shrink back trying to hide amongst themselves. They looked up but saw Winter looking like a blood thirsty demon ready to rip of their necks one by one!
They looked up again and saw she had a cold look on her face
"Clean this up please" she smiled sweetly.
Saint nodded at the servants" No word about this gets out especially to the Mistress"
The maids hurriedly bowed and wrap up the body in an invisibility spell before running out of the room.
Saint didn't want to report about this incident to Josephina cause he knows his mistress would order that all the maids attending to Winter be thrown into the punishment cell where they will be tortured for the rest of their lives.
The maids knew this too that's why they quickly ran grateful to Saint.
"I will go take my bath. I will be ready in half an hour" Winter said to Saint.
Saint nodded.
"Don't you want to ask why?" Winter eyes Saint suspicious of him.
"I just want to ask why now" he replied.
"You already knew ?" Winter said not shocked.
This man literally raised her by himself. Her mother was always out on the school business so she didn't see her often.
If someone would know about her indifferent and cold side it would be this man.
"Yes"
"Well I just want some people not to think am still the pushover that I was"
Winter smiled and walked to the bathroom.
Saint eyes dropped and he thought to himself.
'i wish you can just live a normal life'

Winter walked into the hall dressed in a white mermaid gown. Her black hair tied in a messy bun. She wore light jewelry shining in the light beautifully.
She looked like an immortal completely out of place in this world.
But her beauty was just one of the beauties here. Only in the third rank with two more beautiful ladies I'm the living room waiting.
"Good morning mom"
She walked up to Josephina and kissed her cheeks.
Josephina removed her cold face and patted her face lovingly.
"How was your sleep dear?" She asked.
"Wonderful" Winter replied coolly.
"You didn't have a nightmare about those beast right?" Josephina asked worried.
"No I didn't" Winter replied with the same tone.
Josephina felt Winter was different from usual like she was putting up some boundaries between them.
"Okay go meet your brother and your friends" Josephina nudged her towards the group of exquisite young people.
Winter signed. She didn't want to associate with some of the people in the group but Josephina insisted she stayed with them and that's the onl time she ever got angry at her.
The next day the people she said she didn't want to play with came to her and begged for any crime they might have committed and said thrive their friendship but she knew it's her mom act behind the scene.
"Good morning babe" Kira hugged her enthusiastically.
"I heard what happened yesterday are you alright?" Kira hovered around her like a concerned mother.
Kira is her best friend in the group.
"Am fine" Winter chuckled.
"If she hadn't run off in the first place she wouldn't be hurt" Nynette mumbled the quietly but the people there heard.
Beauty frowned and said coldly" She is right! You were placed on lockdown because of your own safety"
"Yeah. You know how the first year batch can get aggressive and you had experienced it first hand remember that year" Dave chimed in.
"You could have brought some were guards at least" Beauty added.
Winter looked at them indifferently like she was just a passerby.
"Okay thanks" She said nodding slightly.
The group faces changed as they noticed there was something wrong with her.
"Babe they are just saying it for your own good" Kira came in tugging slightly at Winter's dress.
"I know" Winter nodded.
Nynette clenched her fist at not been able to speak loud for the fear of Joseph and especially Josephina.
Her education on how to protect Winter yesterday is still vividly playing in her mind and hurting her bones.
Her wing bones felt painful till now. Joseph education had a toll on them,
"Are you okay?" Joseph asked worried.
"Am fine bro" Winter smiled at him.
