"Rain."
I stood there, feigning annoyance, and attempted to retrieve my hand. Through clenched teeth, "Mr. Lee, please release my hand.
"wait"
I need to use the bathroom.
He released my hand and said, "Oh, you go ahead. Let me introduce you to some family friends. This is Mr. Jung, who is also my father's business partner. And there's his lovely wife, Mrs. Jung, whom I think you've met before." I nodded as he made the introductions, gesturing with his finger. Lastly, there's their daughter Rose their childhood friend.
Mh, I said, "Nice meeting you," I turned to face Junior. "I need to use the bathroom."
"Mh, biscuit, hold on for a moment," he gently grasped my waist, "and here is my partner, Rain Murray, who not only rescued Dad during an accident but also holds the key to my heart."
Boom. The room fell silent, every eye now focused on us. I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks. Slowly, the murmurs and whispers started, and I saw a mix of admiration and curiosity in their faces.
I glanced at Jung, particularly Rose; she averted her gaze and then glanced back at Junior. I teased Mr. Lee, saying, "Stop playing around; we all know Miss Rose here is your fiancée. But I assume you're married now?" Junior just held me tightly, smiling, "I have never referred to her as my wife." He then turned to Rose with a stern look, "That was just for the media. Or am I mistaken, Rose?"
"No, you're not," Rose replied. "We're not in any romantic relationship, just family friends."I felt a wave of relief wash over me, but it was quickly replaced by awkwardness. The room seemed to pulse with unspoken questions and unvoiced opinions. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves.
I gazed at Rose for a while, and she smiled at me. I think there might be a misunderstanding, Doctor. Let's grab some coffee to sort things out.
However, I wasn't keen on hearing more lies from her as it was evident she had ulterior motives.
Yet, there was a part of me that couldn't shake off the curiosity. What if there was more to the story than what appeared on the surface?"
I raised an eyebrow, my skepticism evident.
gathering her thoughts. "Junior and I... it's complicated. Our families have been intertwined for generations, and there are expectations, alliances, and secrets that we have to navigate. The media portrayal of us as a couple is just a small part of a much larger picture."
Her words intrigued me, but I wasn't entirely convinced. "So, what's your real agenda, Rose? Why?"
She sighed, as if the weight of a thousand burdens rested on her shoulders. "believe me when I say that my intentions are not what you think."
Junior then turned to me, his eyes filled with genuine concern. "Do you still need to use the bathroom?"
"Yes," as I turned, he pulled me back, leaned in to give me a kiss on my cheek, and said, "I'll go get the car. We should get home." He said that unsure if I would agree.
Ok, I went to the bathroom. At this stage, I was really pressed.
The Jung left and Junior asked for his car to be brought and waited for Rain to come out of the bathroom.
As I emerged from the bathroom, I saw him on his phone and quickly walked towards me, hanging up his call.
"Shall we?"
I only said that to go to the bathroom. "Now if you'll excuse me, Mandy is waiting for me." I passed him and strode to my friend Mandy at our table.
He followed behind me while I sat down. He grabbed my bag and coat and said, "Mandy, I will drive you home first." He picked me up like a bride and nodded to my colleagues.
Mandy followed behind.
