Jodie glanced over to see a handsome wolf in his human form approach them. Serene's arm was linked with his, and his head was bent low as he listened to something she said. Suddenly, the head came up and he stared at Jodie with undisguised interest.
"Where's the meat?" Ingrid inquired with mock horror.
Coby laughed.
"Kyle's in charge of the grill, tonight." He glanced over at Jodie as he spoke and she stared back. "I'm guessing you're my student?"
"Huh?"
"Yes, she is." Ingrid beamed. "Jodie, Coby will indoctrinate you on the rich history of the Phoenix Pack while Serene and I will get us something to eat."
Serene's face fell. "But--"
"No, buts!" Ingrid interrupted, dragging her away.
"So," Coby started. "Ingrid tells me you're interested in the pack's history."
"Oh, I'm very interested." Jodie smiled and nodded. "Are you a custodian of some sorts?"
