Jodie sat by the window in Ares' bedroom watching the remainder of the dispersed crowd reluctantly return to their various homes. The fire had long been put out but a thick smoke persisted and travelled up in its wake. The remaining food had also been shared and everyone left with something. It was then it dawned that she hadn't had anything to eat that evening. Ingrid had dragged Selene away with the excuse of getting them something to eat but they never returned.
All that talk of slaughtering and grilling pigs, wetted her appetite yet she'd been left to hang out dry. It was clear Ingrid meant to leave her alone with Coby for some time but then she never returned.
