Chapter 10 - Saved

Tears walked down her face as she walked to the roof of her house. She couldn't imagine the kind of man her husband was. How could he be such a serial cheater, who not only cheats on his wife but also on his gay partners.

"Why, why, why did I marry that stupid bastard?!" She yelled once she got to the roof.

She pushed her hair backwards, "Ugh! I can't do this anymore," she shook her head, "I can't take this in!" She cried.

Her screams attracted some of the guests who were about to leave the party.

"Isn't that Mrs Robinwood? What is she doing on the roof?" Someone pointed to her crying on the roof.

Some concerned began to cluster around the base of the house.

"She might fall over, someone get help!"

She ignored all the commotion that was going on below her. All she wanted to do, was end it all and go somewhere where she would have infinite peace.

She sniffed, "I'm so sorry I didn't listen to you mother, now I'm suffering from that," she sniffed and drifted very close to the end of the roof, ready to fall over.

Looking at the ground so far below her, she was getting dizzy and shook her head, "Oh goodness," her head began to spin.

Her feet slipped and her eyes slowly blacked out.

There were strange noises, it seems people were having an argument over something.

Her eyes flickered open, she tried to open them but the light was too bright for her eyes and she shut them again.

She inhaled sharply and this drew the doctor's attention and she turned to face Nora on the bed.

"I think she has woken up," the doctor said.

Jimmy bit his lips, watching Nora very closely, a big frown on his face.

She finally opened her eyes, and she looked around, surprised.

"Huh? Wh- what happened?"

"It seems you tried killing yourself!" Jimmy snapped at her.

"Calm down Mr. Robinwood, she is just waking up, " the doctor frowned at him.

He growled and looked away.

The doctor faced Nora, "Mrs. Robinwood, are you okay?"

She nodded, "I'm fine," she exhaled.

"What happened? Why were you at the roof? You almost slipped if not your husband caught you in time."

Her insides shrunk, why did Jimmy have to save her? How was he even fast enough? She had clearly seen him with their driver.

She thought of something to tell the doctor, it would rub off badly on Jimmy's reputation if she said she tried killing herself.

"Well, I had gone there for some fresh air when suddenly I felt dizzy, it grew worse and all of a sudden, everywhere blacked out."

The doctor squirted her eyes, "Dizzy? Blacked out?"

"Yes," she nodded.

The doctor nodded and wrote something down.

"I think I will have to re-examine you Mrs. Robinwood."

"Why? Is she hurt?" Jimmy asked.

She shook her head, "she mentioned some symptoms and I have to check the cause of that."

Jimmy rolled his eyes, "Whatever," he shook his head.

She re examined her again, "I think you must be really stressed out, is there something that is bothering you? That is the reason you passed out."

Her heart skipped a beat, Jimmy was the reason she was so stressed out, again, she could say nothing.

A tear slid down her left cheek, she shook her head and wiped her eye, "it is my work, nothing more," she faked a smile.

The doctor squinted her eyes, "Are you sure?"

She nodded, "Yes, that is the reason."

"Then you should take a break, if you continue this way, you will definitely fall ill, please Mrs. Robinwood, you should rest."

She sighed and nodded, "I will, thank you."

The doctor wrote some prescriptions and handed it to Jimmy, "Make sure, she take these."

Jimmy took it from her nodded, "Okay," he sighed.

The doctor left the room.

Jimmy faced her with a growl, "Tell me, what have you been up to? Why were you at the roof?" His face was close to hers, his eyes blazing with fury.

She avoided his eyes, "I don't know," she said quietly.

"Don't even try playing games with me, tell me the truth, what were you doing at the roof?" He asked again, calm but there was fury evident in his voice.

She closed her eyes, she couldn't believe he was also cruel too.

She gulped, "Leave me alone please, I want to have time to myself."

He gripped her hand, "Answer me you b*tch! Or I'll tear you in shreds!"

She flinched, and closed her eyes, tears rolling down freely from her eyes.

"I was.. I wanted to.."

"Kill yourself?"

She exhaled deeply, and nodded, "Yes," she whispered, and a tear slid into her mouth.

He drew backwards and squinted his eyes, "What did you think would have happened to my reputation? You commiting suicide and the public thinking I'm not taking care of you? Is that it?"

She shook her head, "What do you think care is?"

"Don't ask me questions!"

She gulped, "I'm sorry," she looked away, her head throbbing.

He walked out of her ward furiously. She palmed her face and cried.

"Oh God, please get me out of this, I don't want this anymore," she sobbed quietly.

After a while, a nurse came into her ward, "Mrs Robinwood?"

"Yes?" She wiped her face.

"You.. have been discharged, you are free to go home ma'am."

She nodded, "Thank you."

She came out of the hospital and looked around, Jimmy was nowhere to be seen. He had gone home without her.

She clenched her fists and cursed him in her heart.

"Leaving me here stranded? Why didn't he just let me die?" She gritted her teeth.

She had to walk to the road to get a taxi cab, she stood there for a while with no taxi cab in sight.

She held her head, "Ugh, things are going to be complicated," she sighed.
