Chapter 11 - No hope

She arrived at the gate of the Mansion. She had to give the taxi driver her rings, which was the only thing she had on her.

She shook her head and walked inside weakly, wishing she had something to support her movement at least.

She would stop at intervals, "oh goodness, " she breathed heavily.

The mansion was still a long way off as she was taking slow steady steps to the mansion.

The driver saw her struggling to get to the house without falling on her face. He quickly rushed to help her.

"Ma'am, are you okay?"

"Just please, help me to the front door," she whispered.

He nodded, "yes ma'am," he held her hand and helped her get to the front door.

"Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kindness," she smiled softly at him.

He nodded, "it is a pleasures ma'am," he nodded and walked off.

She held the door and breathed deeply, "oh goodness," she sighed and opened the door.

She slowly walked in to meet an angry husband, pissed off father in law, and a raging mother in law.

She held her head, "not these people," she bit her lips and muttered.

"What were you planning to do earlier this evening? Huh?"

She kept quiet, dropping her gaze.

"Answer me!"

She flinched, "On-thing," she gulped.

Mr. Robinwood walked up to her and gripped her arm.

"You were trying to kill yourself?" He asked in a whisper.

She gulped, not knowing how to respond.

"I.. no," she shook her head.

"What were you doing at the roof then? Was it a coincidence? You were there to have fun?"

She avoided his eyes and gulped, "I.. I just.. I was tired."

"Tired of what?"

She couldn't respond, she just gulped and kept her gaze on the ground.

He gripped her hand even tighter, "answer me!"

She was shaking, but still didn't answer him.

"Does this look like a joke to you? I said answer me!" He yelled.

Tears welled up in her eyes, her lips shook, "I would like to go upstairs," she gulped.

He drew his head backwards, "what is the meaning of this?"

Jimmy felt insulted, he walked up to them and pulled her hand, "you must be a dumb ass," he threw her to the floor.

"You were trying to spoil my name, isn't it? Trying to tell the world that I am a bad husband? Huh?!"

She shook her head, that was exactly what he was but there was no one who she could tell. They wouldn't believe her anyway.

He nodded, "I am so going to teach you a lesson," he squinted his eyes.

He made her stand roughly on her feet. Her gripped her hand and led her upstairs.

"You should definitely teach her a lesson she wouldn't forget in a hurry," Mrs. Robinwood smirked.

Her eyes were spinning because he was walking in a hurry. She felt like throwing up.

They got to their room and he pushed her inside. She landed on the floor, weak.

"You have taken my patience for granted, and this is not something I would forgive."

He quickly undid his belt, "you're such a foolish woman who tries the kindness of her husband."

Kindness? Did he say kindness?

She tried to speak but a lash of belt on her neck suddenly cut short her words.

She let out a loud scream.

He hit her again on her back and on her legs, soon it was all over her body.

All she could do was cry and beg him to stop but he didn't listen.

"You should never try taking my patience for granted again, or else it would be worse than this!"

He stopped and breathed heavily, "bloody fool," he said and walked out of the room.

She cried on the floor, writhing in pain. For the next few minutes, she couldn't move because of the swellings on her body.

She cried for a long time, wishing he had allowed her to die.

She wrapped herself on the floor, bemoaning her misfortune over and over again.

She was trapped in a marriage without her consent, Jimmy was not willing to divorce her to keep his social ladder high.

She sniffed and managed to stand up, writhing in pain, she dragged herself to the closet to get herself a first aid box.

Tending to her wounds made her cry, they were ugly red swellings all over her body.

"Oh God, I don't know what else to do," she sniffed, "why is this happening to me?"

She shook her head in self pity. Her mind raced back to that man she had met at the office.

She wished to see him again, at least he made her feel like a woman.

She sighed, "if I could see him again," she sniffed, "those are the kind of men I should have found earlier, not this beast!" Tears left her eyes again, "I am definitely the most unfortunate being on earth," she kept telling herself.

When she was done tending her wounds, she walked out of the closet. She wanted to go to bed but something in her thought otherwise.

"What am I even doing here anyway?" She took slow steps to the door, "it is better I sleep in the streets than spend another night here," she walked out of the room.

She had to walk downstairs with slow steady steps, not only because she wasn't feeling too well, because of the bruises inflicted on her against her will.

She decides to go to her best friend's house. Lucky enough for her, Jimmy and his parents were not there.

She quickly left the house, and the compound. She had forgotten to take money with her so there was no money on her.

She had to walk to her friend's house because she had no other option.

It took an hour to reach there by foot.

She reached her friend's house, a small bungalow that had a beautiful fence around it. She walked to the door and knocked on it.

A young blond man opened the door.

"Nora?"

She sniffed and hugged him, "Freddy."
