Chereads / Conscious as an Energy / Chapter 15 - Louis Vandruff

Chapter 15 - Louis Vandruff

It was nighttime.

The moon was shining brightly, just like any other day in the sky.

High above the Frond Forest, there was an island called the City of Wind, floating still in the sky.

Within the city, there was a huge mansion located at the center.

Whoosh

Inside a room within the mansion, two figures suddenly appeared from a huge, dark sphere.

"Where is he?"

As soon as the two figures appeared, a person wearing a white robe greeted them as the two figures nodded their heads and took out a blue crystal.

"He is here." Cedric said as he handed over the crystal to the person wearing the robe.

"Good work. Pick up your rewards from the guards at the front gate. You are dismissed." The robed person said as he took the crystal and turned around to leave.

"Wait." But before he could leave, Cedric stopped him as the robed person stopped and turned towards him.

"What is it?" The robed person said this as Cedric opened his mouth.

"We would like to question him about what happened." He said this as the robed person frowned.

"Your only job was to rescue him. Now that your job is over, you can leave." He said this as Cedric frowned.

"It's regarding the safety of the adventurer and the citizens who might have to travel through the same route as him in the future." He said this, as now the one to frown was the robed person.

"Any notice and important information regarding the matter will be published tomorrow in the newspaper. You do not need to chime in any further." The robed person said this as Cedric tried to retort but became silent as he couldn't find any words to say.

'I will just leave looking for the guard he mentioned.' Chlory silently thought as she secretly left the room and headed towards the guard that the robed person told them to meet.

Clack

Leaving the room, she found herself in a hallway as she turned left and started walking straight.

"Sigh. Dealing with these three has always been tiring." Chlory muttered as she kept on walking. She didn't want to see their faces for any time soon again.

"Chlory."

'…Shit.' As she was hurrying up, she saw a figure in front of her calling her.

"Hey Ann. When did you arrive?" Chlory asked as she smiled towards Ann.

"We reached quiet earlier than expected." Ann said as they both started walking together.

"Oh. Then why are you still here?" Chlory asked.

"Well, as soon as we arrived, they started questioning us about the dead body of the city lord's son. After we told them that he survived after using potions, they took us into questioning. I was just released; Ben is still being questioned." Ann explained, as Chlory just understood why the robed person was in a hurry.

"What are you going to do now?" Ann asked as Chlory was taken back a little.

'Please don't ask to hang out.' Chlory thought as she smiled and replied.

"I'm going to take a rest and handle some of my guild work." Chlory said as Ann nodded her head.

"I see," Ann replied as they kept on walking.

"What about you?" The silence that followed didn't sit right with Chlory, as she asked Ann.

"Me? I'm going to postmortem the three bodies in my lab." Ann replied.

"I see," Chlory said as they just reached the front gate.

Meeting the guard at the gate, they collected their rewards as they left the mansion.

The night went on as the city went to sleep.

Some guards were awake guarding, and some people were awake doing their work.

While many people were starting to sleep, a person had just woken up.

'Am I inside the city?' Looking at the white ceiling above him, Aiden thought as he raised his upper body.

In the form of Aron Belur, he was lying on a comfortable, small bed inside a small room that had nothing beside the bed he was laying on.

"Where is this?" Aiden muttered.

Ding

[You are currently inside a hospital room.]

'A hospital room? So, I was able to get into the city.' Aiden thought as he looked out the small window.

Standing up from the bed, he walked towards the window and looked through it.

'A garden?' Aiden muttered as he expected to see lots of buildings, but the only thing he saw was the garden with lots of sculptural plants on it.

Clack

As he was looking through the window, the door behind him opened as a man wearing a white robe walked in.

The robed person had his entire body covered, including his face. It was the same robed person from earlier.

"Are you having any difficulty?" He said this as he looked at Aiden with familiarity.

"Who are you?" Aiden didn't hesitate to ask him as he looked coldly at the man in front of him.

"…" The robed person stood silent as he looked at Aiden, trying to read what was happening.

"Uh, I was assigned as your tutor." The robed person said as Aiden tilted his head.

"My tutor? So, you know who I am." He said this as the robed person became more confused.

"…It can't be." Figuring out what was happening, the robed person became devastated as he looked at Aiden through the veil.

"Di-did you lose your memory?" The robed person hastily walked towards Aiden as Aiden frowned and pointed his finger at him.

"Stop." He said this as the robed person stopped.

'…T-this demeanour. It's just like that of his father.' The robed person thought as he looked at Aiden.

"I dare you to walk any closer." He said it in a cold voice as the robed person stood still and started calming himself down.

"…Ahem. I'm sorry for my messy demeanor." The robed person said this as he looked at Aiden for a moment and lowered his head.

"My name is Louis Vandruff. Two years ago, your father assigned me to be your tutor. It seems this recent accident you fell into has messed with your memories. Please make yourself at home here for the time being; I will make sure your memories come back." Louis said as he looked at Aiden.

"Stay here; I refuse. Take me back to my place, where I resided."

Aiden said as Louis fell silent for a moment.

"…I see. Then, please wait a moment. I would ask to take a leave." Louis said as he bowed his head a little and walked out of the room.

Clack

As Louis walked out of the room, Aiden looked at the closed door for a few moments.

"…Sigh." Exhaling a tired breath, Aiden walked towards the bed as he sat there.

'That was nerve-wrecking.' Aiden thought as he clenched his trembling hand.

'AHAHAHA. Nice acting brother.'

Eden, who had been watching the entire spectacle, had been laughing for a while, finding it quite entertaining.

'Seriously fuck you.' Aiden was annoyed by this, as he was fighting for his life here.

'I have to say, your luck is your greatest enemy.' Eden said as he lay on the bed inside the consciousness room.

'Yeah. That's why I'm here with you. Fuck off.' Aiden said as Eden just laughed off.

'This is risky, but I have to play my cards right.' He thought as he clenched his trembling hands and calmed his nerves.

Clack

"Young master, they gave permission. Please come this way."

It didn't take long for Louis to return, as he requested Aiden to come with him.

The hospital was a big building, but it didn't take long for them to get to the bottom floor through the moving platform.

Aiden was fascinated by it, but he didn't show it in his face, as Louis was right there.

Whoosh

Reaching the bottom floor, they walked out a huge glass door as they exited the hospital.

"This way."

He pointed at a brown carriage that had two scaled black horses with one horn on their heads attached at the front.

'What is that?' Aiden questioned what he was looking at, as he didn't have any idea about that, so he quietly followed what Louise told him.

The whole journey was silent as Aiden just sat there and looked outside the window.

It was night, so the street was quiet.

Louise frequently glanced at him, which Aiden had already noticed but decided not to say anything as he had decided to talk as little as possible.

'The memory loss has made the young master a complete opposite person.' Louise thought as he started regretting.

'I didn't know he would run into big trouble in this last test of his.' He thought.

'The city lord also seemed like he didn't know about it. Now that he is here without completing his test, I have to let the city lord know that he failed the test.' Louise thought in deep regret as he suddenly bowed his head.

"I'm very sorry, young master. I shouldn't have given you such a terrible test. To see all your wishes and hard work go to waste when you have very good potential is very regretful."
