Two weeks later,
Tap Tap
"Louis Vandruff,"
Lowering his head, Louis Vandruff avoided the city lord's glare as he spoke up.
"I believe young master has potential. Please let him attend the academy."
Louis said as he bowed his head.
This morning, a letter was sent to the mansion. The letter was directed towards Aron Belur, stating that he passed the entrance exams and was accepted to the Verdice Venur Academy.
Tap Tap
"You have been acting out of your lines." Enel said as he tapped on his chair.
Clack
As Louis was getting ready to face punishment, the door behind him opened as Aron walked in.
"Good morning, city lord." Aron said as he lowered his head as a form of respectful greeting.
Enel frowned as he opened his mouth.
"You are not allowed to attend the academy." Enel said as he looked eye-to-eye with Aron.
"But I have proved myself that I can survive there by passing the entrance exams." Aron said, as he didn't back down and looked back at the city lord.
Aron clenched his fists as he tried not to back down from the pressure emitted by the city lord.
"Those exams don't matter. You are still not allowed to attend the academy." Enel kept hanging by his words as Louis, who still had his head lowered, spoke up.
"If those exams don't matter, then you can test him yourself. I will help the exams go through." He said this as Enel shifted his gaze to Louis.
"Ok, then, there are still two months before you can attend the academy. For one month, you will take various exams; if you can pass all of them, you can attend the exam." Enel said as Aron lowered his head.
"I agree."
…
To the present,
"What is the meaning of this? Louis Vandruff." Enel said as he frowned at the person who barged into their dining room.
"Young Master hasn't failed the test." Louis said it with a rushed voice.
'Hmm?'
What Louis said caught Aiden's attention as he looked at him.
"What do you mean by that?"
Enel asked as Louis quickly rummaged through the gray bag and took out a mirror.
"This!" Louis said as he showed the mirror to Enel.
"…" Looking at the mirror, Enel frowned as he raised his hand, asking Louis to hand it over so he could have a closer look.
"This is…" Enel muttered as he closely inspected the mirror. Upon close inspection, he could see that 'Aron Belur' was written on it.
"Yes. It's the item you asked him to retrieve from the forest as a test. It was in the bag of the young master. It seems that the young master had already finished his test." Louis said as he also pointed at the gray bag.
"This should be enough, right? Young Master has passed all your tests until now." Louis said as Enel sat down in his chair.
'…What is he going to do?' Aiden thought as he looked at Enel with anticipation.
His heart was beating fast with the possibility that he could be far away from the city lord, who was his biggest threat.
"No."
Despite the hopeful look given by Louis and Aiden, Enel calmly shattered their expectations as he ordered a servant to bring coffee.
Aiden and Louis became speechless at what he said.
"M-may I ask what you mean by no?" Louis was the first to talk.
"I never said this was going to be your last exam." Enel said as he looked at Aiden.
"Thats…" Louis became silent, as what Enel said was true. Due to the accidents and everything, Louis had forgotten about it.
"I have now one last exam for you to take." Enel said as the servant placed the cup of coffee on his table.
Taking the coffee, Enel stood up as he prepared to take a leave.
"But city lord, the young master's memories are still not recovered. He will have difficulty." Louis said, as Enel didn't bother to look at him.
"The exam will take place the day after tomorrow. This time, I will be giving the exam." Enel said as he left the dining room.
'Shit. What should I do now?' Aiden thought as he took a bite of the sandwich.
"…Young master."
As Aiden was eating, Louis approached him.
"Young master. I thought about it a lot when I was alone. Now, I also think that it is best for you to not attend the academy." Louis said as Aiden stopped eating and looked towards him.
"Why do you think so?" He asked as Loius replied,
"You nearly lost your life in this recent exam, and now that you have lost your memories, I fear that it will be more difficult for you." Louis said as Aiden started thinking about what he said.
'Hmm. He probably didn't bother about his son losing his memories because he thought I would have less will to go to the academy now.' Aiden thought as he took a bite of the sandwich.
"…Please think carefully about what I said, young master. I will also take my leave here." Louis said as he left the dining room.
Clack
"Excuse me, can I get a coffee?" Calling to the servant, he asked for coffee as the servant obediently followed his order.
'But why was his son so desperate about going to the academy? He even went through various exams for that.' Aiden thought as he took another bite of the sandwich.
'Maybe you are thinking about it in the wrong order.' Eden, who was there with him, said his opinion as Aiden asked.
'What wrong order?'
'What if instead of being desperate to go to the academy, he was desperate to leave this place?' Eden said.
'…You're right.' Aiden thought that made some sense.
'But why would he be so desperate?'
'Tch. With a dad as crazy as that, who wouldn't?' Eden said as Aiden again nodded his head.
Aiden remained silent as he started to think long and hard about what he was going to do.
'I guess I have made up my mind on what to do.' Aiden thought as the servant placed the cup of coffee in front of him.
'You sure about that? I mean, what the tutor said also totally made sense.' Eden said as Aiden nodded his head.
'Yes, but we still have two days for preparation.' Aiden said as he took a sip of coffee out of the cup.
'And also, the city lord totally overestimated about something.'
'About what?' Eden asked as he raised his brows.
'My will to get out of this place is just as desperate as that of his son.'
