Chapter 39 - Forming Alliances

 "[Internal LAN established.]

[This battle will be in entertainment mode!]

[This battle will be a large-scale melee. The battlefield scenario: Plains!]

[Number of participants: 50!]

[All participants' Divine Realms have been connected, and the troops will be deployed to the battlefield soon!]

[In entertainment mode, troop deaths will not result in any losses!]"

As the mechanical voice from the game pod announced, the troops from the Divine Realms began to be deployed to the battlefield.

"Hey? Why can't I choose the number of troops? Is entertainment mode different from real battle mode?" Xu Luo wondered. In his previous battle with Xiang Xun, he could select the number of troops to deploy, but now he couldn't.

Despite his confusion, Xu Luo watched in god-view as all his troops were deployed to the battlefield.

"Good thing I didn't replenish the number of Zerg," Xu Luo thought with relief. Just a few days ago, he had suffered significant losses in an invasion of an alien Divine Realm. He had been busy upgrading his Zerg, accumulating faith power, and had not replenished their numbers.

Seeing all his Zerg deployed was no big deal now.

"Damn kid, let's see how you hide this time!" Zhong Tianyue, watching the battle, muttered to himself.

He had warned the kid to keep a low profile, and Xu Luo had listened, invading only twice in a month.

But invading five targets at once? How arrogant! Now, the entire first-year class had destroyed twenty-seven alien Divine Realms, catching higher-ups' attention.

As the principal and homeroom teacher, Zhong Tianyue felt it was a failure not to know his students' true capabilities.

The decision to deploy all troops at once was his, aiming to see everyone's full strength.

However, seeing the number of troops Xu Luo deployed still shocked Zhong Tianyue.

The battle mode only selected troops, not non-combat entities. But seeing the vast number of troops on Xu Luo's side, Zhong Tianyue gritted his teeth.

"This damn kid is still holding back."

He didn't believe this was all the strength Xu Luo could muster after invading five Divine Realms. It must be the remnants of his previous invasions. But even this was impressive.

Just the remnants totaled tens of thousands. What would the peak be like?

Not only were the school officials present watching, but other first-year students were also watching the live broadcast in their classrooms. Even second and third-year students were paying attention.

Seeing the troops of fifty participants, some were amazed by their rapid development, while others were astonished by the number of Xu Luo's troops and curious about his species.

After all, no one had seen the Zerg before, and there were no records of them in the "Book of Species Origins."

The elite class's battle, with the last five being eliminated, was now common knowledge.

This rule applied not just to the first year but also to the second and third years.

However, the gap between the second and third years was already wide. Even if five regular class students entered, they would likely be replaced quickly.

But the first year was different. The gap was not yet significant, and the future held endless possibilities, making it more intriguing.

Once on the battlefield, surrounded by endless plains, everyone spread out, unable to see each other directly.

The first thing everyone did was start looking for others.

Whether those who had agreed to ally or those looking to eliminate others, everyone began to act.

Xu Luo, not seeing anyone else, didn't mind.

After all, it was entertainment mode. Dying here wasn't real; he wouldn't get talent or gene rewards. So, he wasn't very interested.

Even being first in the monthly exam only brought some faith power as a reward. If not for the rare resources, he wouldn't even bother.

His Divine Realm's daily output already far exceeded these rewards.

Only rare rewards, which couldn't be bought with faith power, interested him.

Meanwhile, others began to converge. Xiang Xun even stopped some who had started fighting.

"What are you thinking? Letting others take advantage? If we ally and eliminate the strongest, won't there be more spots available? Why fight among ourselves?" Xiang Xun persuaded everyone he met, and others spread the message.

It worked. Those who had already started fighting stopped.

Eliminating someone of similar strength was risky.

But teaming up to eliminate Xu Luo was very safe.

How could Xu Luo, no matter how strong, fight against forty-nine others?

"Xiang Xun, you want revenge and are using everyone's power. Have you no shame?" Wang Xiaoling scolded, her eyes wide with anger.

"Wang Xiaoling, if you don't want to ally, that's fine. We'll eliminate you first," Xiang Xun sneered.

But seeing others hesitate, no one dared to make a move.

"Cowards!" Xiang Xun cursed inwardly but didn't dare act. After all, the Wang family had many businesses in Tianhai City and connections with many powerful families. Eliminating Wang Xiaoling could cause trouble later.

"Hmph, if you don't want to ally, do you plan to eliminate us all?" Though he couldn't act, he could still disgust the other party.

Wang Xiaoling hesitated.

After all, they were classmates, some even childhood friends, all from the same circle. She felt uncomfortable eliminating them.

"Fine, but even if you eliminate Xu Luo, there are still four spots left. What then?" Wang Xiaoling said, directing her troops away.

Hearing this, others exchanged glances. Eliminating Xu Luo was just one person. There were still four spots to fill!

Some exchanged hidden glances, their eyes falling on Xiang Xun.

He was also a target.

Surrounded by over forty people and countless troops, Xiang Xun felt invincible, playing the role of commander. But he didn't know others' thoughts.

"Don't worry, everyone. Once we eliminate Xu Luo, we'll compensate the remaining four with resources. It's just a month. You'll be back soon!"

Xiang Xun's confidence was clear. He believed that eliminating Xu Luo would be easy with the combined forces of so many. His plan was to exploit everyone's desire to survive and redirect their aggression towards Xu Luo.

Meanwhile, Xu Luo was preparing his troops, unaware of the massive alliance forming against him. He was confident in his strength and the capabilities of his Zerg army. His focus was on strategy, positioning his forces to adapt to any surprise attacks.

As the battle commenced, alliances were quickly formed. Troops moved strategically across the plains, positioning themselves for the upcoming conflict. Xiang Xun's group, now a large and formidable force, began to advance towards Xu Luo's location.

Xu Luo's scouts quickly reported the movement. Seeing the massive coalition approaching, Xu Luo smiled, realizing the challenge ahead. He ordered his Zerg to prepare for a defensive stance, utilizing the terrain to their advantage.

The battlefield became a chaotic mess of alliances, betrayals, and skirmishes. Some students, driven by fear of elimination, chose to ally with Xiang Xun. Others, seeking a chance to shine, aimed to disrupt the larger group's plans.

As the massive coalition approached Xu Luo's position, the first clashes erupted. Xu Luo's Zerg, though outnumbered, fought with ferocity and coordination. The battle became a test of tactics and resilience.

Xiang Xun, seeing his initial forces struggling, pushed forward, urging his allies to press harder. The battlefield echoed with the sounds of combat as both sides fought fiercely.

Despite the overwhelming numbers, Xu Luo's strategic positioning and the unique abilities of his Zerg created significant challenges for the attackers. The battlefield became a dynamic environment, with shifting alliances and unexpected maneuvers.

Xu Luo's calm and calculated leadership began to turn the tide. His Zerg, though fewer, exploited every advantage, forcing Xiang Xun's coalition to adapt constantly.

The intensity of the battle drew the attention of all spectators. The school's higher-ups watched closely, evaluating the students' performance and strategies. The students, engrossed in the unfolding drama, cheered for their favorites.

As the battle raged on, it became clear that eliminating Xu Luo would not be as easy as Xiang Xun had anticipated. The resilience and adaptability of Xu Luo's forces posed a significant challenge to the coalition.

In the end, the battlefield was left with only a few standing. Xu Luo's strategic brilliance and the formidable nature of his Zerg proved too much for the coalition. Many had fallen, but Xu Luo stood victorious, his forces battered but unbroken.

Xiang Xun, realizing his defeat, retreated with his remaining troops, vowing to seek revenge another day. The spectators erupted in applause, impressed by the display of skill and strategy.

Xu Luo's performance solidified his reputation as a formidable contender in the elite class. As the dust settled, the students returned to their normal lives, their experiences on the battlefield shaping their future strategies and alliances.
