Chereads / An Ordeal of The Warlords / Chapter 33 - Mana

Chapter 33 - Mana

"Mercy..we have to help him. His face is becoming red, and he's choking...Mercy!" Ana got from her seat, unable to watch Arya suffering. He was coughing and rubbing himself on the floor.

"Don't move, Ana. Watch. If you want to run a kingdom? You will be giving people a worse fate than this every day." Mercy moved his hand in her way.

Reva's legs were shaking, she was trying to ignore Arya the best she could, but the noises kept pushing her eyes towards him. Drenched in his own vomit, struggling to move.

But then she noticed something different, his eyes were changing colours.

"hh. hah..."

Arya's pains slowed down in a second, his clothes and face were covered in blood he drank a second ago, and the bland smell was disappearing and turning a bit sweeter...

His gasping ended and the itching and needles stopped hurting. He straightened his back and didn't bother to wipe the blood covering half of his face. Instead, he looked at Reva who looked at him with a hint of surprise and confusion.

"Something's different..." Reva was surrounded by tiny green covers, he rubbed his eyes together and looked at the other side, it was the same for Ana and Mercy as some green glitter had covered them.

"Arya, your eyes..." Ana was looking in surprise too, while Mercy had more of a proud smile on his face. "What happened to my eyes?" Arya asked.

"Look at it yourself." Mercy passed his sheathed sword to Arya. He caught it in his hand, sheathed the sword and looked at his reflection in the sword.

"Why are my eyes green? What have you done?!" He touched his face and realised that the pupils had changed colour from black to green. His eyes were just like Mercy...

He looked at the black dress, the green-eyed magician who just made him drink something which had made him go through a hundred different emotions in a second.

"Mercy, what did you add to the blood? Why are all of you sparkling green?" The light sparkles were annoying covering faces and flying around. Arya took the help of the sword to get up, his mind feeling like a mess.

"What is happening? Mercy explains this." Reva got up from her seat, visibly confused.

"I will explain if all three of you get back to your respective seats." Mercy looked at Arya.

"It's getting better, you all aren't shining green anymore." Slowly the green sparkles were vanishing from the three of them and Arya could feel his vision getting normal once again.

"..."

He looked left and right, everyone's reaction was indifferent. Reva and Ana were still worried for him, Why? Arya then turned his face towards Mercy, and a blue light came out of him instead.

Arya quickly lifted the sword and saw his eyes once again, they were blue this time. He threw the sword on the ground and hopped on his chair. Too out of space to give any reaction.

"Reva and Anastasia, sit. I will explain your hard training in the coming days and this abnormality of Arya." The ladies proceeded to take a seat.

"The drink you just took was the blood of a vampire lord. For starters."

"..."

"No objections. I am glad that we have a good amount of trust built up in the short time we have together."

"More like you put us through the most insane set of words every day. Listening to stuff like this is not very out of this world now. I wonder why you give this to us?" Ana presented her opinion.

"Ana is right, you and Sera are the most mysterious and conjured in this world. Life was far simpler a few weeks ago, but now not a day goes by and another super rare event is happening around here." Reva gave her side of thought.

"We know that you won't give us any information about what is going on until it happens."

"I am interested in the fact that this vampire blood especially gave me one of the worst experiences in my life while Reva and Ana were getting the taste of berries?"

"How did you know the blood tasted like berries? I never spoke it out loud." Ana spoke aloud.

"Because I am getting that taste now, but there are also these blue sparkles instead of the green waves earlier. Things are happening, like I am drunk or having a bad dream. I think I should vomit another time..." Arya then realised that he was sitting between 4 people.

"Calm down, Arya. This is happening because you are seeing mana."

"Mana? What's that?"

"You see, there are two types of bendable energies in this world available to every person."

"..." Reva and Arya were confused while Ana was thinking something.

"One is known by everyone, that is called Aura. The standard and common, but the blood I just gave you is heavily dotted with the second energy, Mana. This borrows the colour blue." Reva and Ana tensed at the words, Mercy smiled looking at them.

"The colour of the soul is green and the aura is the part of a soul. Blue is to nature, the power of nature." Ana spoke out.

"It was written in the book of Salazar Avis. He knew about this." Reva completed Ana's words.

Ana eyed Mercy, "Not just Salazar Avis, someone else knows about it too."

"I think the ladies are getting it. Mana is the idea of collecting nature's excessive energy and use at your will. Salazar Avis knew this about long ago, but he was unable to explain it to anyone. He was known as the greatest Magus because his students were special, maybe he was more than that." Mercy turned to Arya.

"Arya, you are getting hurt because you didn't use Mana at any point in your life. Your body is adapting to it, while for the ladies they have shown a far better affinity for Mana."

"And why is that? What wrong did I do?" Arya slammed the table, wiping away the blood on his face.

"As River told you when he gave you the duty to wash clothes." Ana eyed Mercy when he said that.

"You have stayed out of nature for too long. Reva is a hunter, she lives in the woods, and she knows more animals than humans, and Anastasia is a magic user, her body is constantly shifting magic and aura. River being a nature person helped too."

The declaration was made, and people were connected with Mana unknowingly, they didn't have direct access to its usage.

"Mercy, is the sweetness of the blood a factor in this?"

"The sweeter you taste the blood, more your affinity with mana. I observed it myself and I think our researcher will be happy seeing the results."

"River, you can come out from the kitchen. The game is over, I can see you behind the walls." Arya announced.

Mercy relaxed on his seat and River came walking from the kitchen door, as his hands were holding a bag of files containing blood and a smile on his face.

"What were you doing there?" Ana asked River.

"Like Arya once held me, I need test subjects to get results."
