Chapter 60 - When a king meets an emperor

Dion walked through the burned remains of what once used to be a lush green forest. A place so green that one would rarely see another colour beside the brown of trees.

However, none of that beauty was left behind as the whole place had been razed to the ground. Just a world of black remained as ash had buried everything beneath it.

He did not know what Moros was doing to have caused this sort of event to occur and ruin the landscapes for generations. If he were to guess, he would say his brother was swept up in some illegal business again.

Which would be a very rude statement, claiming his brother was only doing illegal things and had caused such a wide destruction.

Dion was right, but it was still very much rude.

Looking through his magical visor the position of Moros was confirmed and he was given the directions to his general location. The successor of the Terra family deemed it okay to catch his brother doing something illegal.

After all, he could keep his mouth shut and none of his parents was here to observe him. For once, he was not representing the Terra family.

He was just a guy catching up and meeting the older sibling after a long while.

Yet, fate was a funny thing and another message popped up, demanding his full attention.

"Interview with the New Elysium Times secluded in 2 hours."

The notification popped up and Dion saw his life flash before his eyes. How could he have forgotten about that interview? It might have been the alcohol from yesterday, but nobody was interested in the obvious explanations.

Dion sighed and looked at the blue sky in sheer frustration. It did seem like even this interaction was affected by his duties as a member of the Terra family.

Stomping his foot on the ground, he tore a giant chasm into the ground, splitting in into a broken line of earth that passed the horizon.

He would have to speed up to Moros, to still be on time.

With a swift hop, he fell down into the hole of his own making, before landing on a layer of earth amidst the hole, in the middle of the air. With another stomp, the earth shot forward carrying at a breakneck speed towards his target.

He rode the earth wave with a casual expression on his face. It was the fastest way to travel for sure, but it also looked the most arrogant.

Dion hummed a melody as the earth tore through everything below the surface.

Moros had dubbed it Earth surfing once, a name that seemed strange. A name should be mighty, while his suggestion seemed everything but mighty.

One needed to create an image of power in the world of Elysium and Earth surf as a technique name did not exactly fit that bill.

Yet, before he arrived at his goal…there was a slight object in his line of travel. Or rather several objects came towards him at a speed that would pose a little bit of danger if he ignored it.

With a wave of his hand the earth shot forward and blocked all the attacks.

"Would have been too nice to enjoy this trip uninterrupted…"

Pushing his hands behind his back, he stomped again, causing the soil beneath his feet to launch him straight upwards, towards the source of his attacks.

In one swift motion he was lifted upwards and arrived at the surface again. A look of annoyance flashed across his face as he witnessed the attackers─goblins, it was not like he hadn't murdered their kind countless times by now

…did they not see the difference in ability?

"Please, do not interfere in my business, I am on a tight schedule as is." Dion simply spoke to the crowd of green eyes that watched him with hatred in their eyes.

"Is he the one…" asked a random goblin, looking at the human that did not seem that strong to him.

Moros clapped his hands together causing 2 walls of earth to shoot up from the ground and clash into one another where its head still was. The result was brain juices flowing around and a brain turned into mush.

"I do not remember asking a question or for your opinion. I simply ask you to stay out of my business…or else…" his gaze looked around the scared goblins… "the fate of your little headless buddy here will look like the good ending to all of you guys."

Dion shook his head. This was usually enough to convince these monsters. In monster speak violence was the usual way to convince each other to act in their best interests.

It was also the fastest way to tell them about his plans, since one should and could not debate with them green friends about human affairs.

Their tiny peanut-sized brains would explode before he had made them understand why he needed to pass.

Spilling some blood was the most effective method, after all.

However, this time it did not seem to work as none of them looked shocked at his threat nor that their kin had its head popped like an overripe melon.

"How troublesome," Dion muttered under his breath.

"So, why do you stand in my way? I am sure this misunderstanding can be resolved in a timely manner. Killing all of you, while easy, would be inconvenient to me, since it would take up a little bit of my time…"

Talking to his brother would take up a lot of time, so he could not waste his precious time here dealing with goblins. So, maybe this could still be resolved peacefully, with none of them wasting his precious minutes.

"I AM GOGOGOBO, KING OF THE GOBLINS, AND I HAVE COME HERE TO DO BATTLE. PREPARE YOURSELF HUMAN!"

The king of goblins with his flowing red mane screamed at the top of his lungs towards the confused human.

Dion, once again, clasped his hands behind the back.

"This is why one can not reason with these inferior being…They really think that this is a battle."

He shook his head, once again he was annoyed at the foolishness of the creatures before him.

"This could never be called a battle," hís hands rose up from behind his back and lifted towards the air.

Countless spikes shot up from the ground, impaling everything that stood before him.

The lucky ones had their brain perforated, causing an instant death. The unlucky ones had other body parts pierced, holding them in place. They would die of bloodloss─they could not move, only wait for death to free them from this torment.

"This was a slaughter."

Only the goblin king jumped backwards in time, dodging the first attack wave of attacks with narrow timing.

"They just do not know what is good for them…"

His hands clapped together once again.

2 large plates of earth shot together, speeding towards one another at an inhuman speed. In the middle of the crash was the body of the goblin King, to be squashed like a fly.

2 axes were drawn, a shimmer of red hue surrounding them. A low incantation escaped its lips and with a heavy thud weapons collided with the earth.

An ear-piercing grating sound was produced as magic collided with metal.

The 2 walls of earth exploded in a deafening impact and blood slowly fell out of its mouth. The eyes of the goblin king glimming with fervor as its desire of battle burned brightly.

Dion on the other hand looked at the goblin king with great annoyance, these creatures just did their best to ruin his plans and get on his nerves.

"

Gogogobo crashed into the ground, skidding several feet before coming to a stop. He struggled to get back on his feet, his body battered and bruised. Blood trickled from the corners of his mouth, and he could feel several of his ribs had been broken from the impact. But he refused to give up. He was the king of goblins, and he would not die like a coward.

As Gogogobo staggered to his feet, Dion was already walking toward him, his footsteps slow and deliberate. The spikes that had impaled the other goblins receded into the ground as he passed by, leaving behind nothing but the lifeless bodies of the fallen.

"You should have stayed in your caves," Dion said, his voice eerily calm. "Your kind was never meant to challenge someone like me."

Gogogobo growled, his grip tightening on his warhammer. "I am not afraid of you, human! I will fight until my last breath!"

Dion paused, his expression unreadable. "Then die as you wish."

With a wave of his hand, Dion summoned a torrent of flames that erupted from the ground, engulfing the goblin king in a raging inferno. The heat was intense, and the flames burned with a bright, white-hot light that illuminated the entire battlefield.

Gogogobo screamed in agony as the flames consumed him, his body writhing in pain. But even as his flesh burned and his vision began to fade, he refused to submit. He raised his warhammer one last time, determined to strike down his enemy.

But before he could take a step, Dion closed his hand into a fist, and the flames intensified, reducing the goblin king to nothing but ash.

The battlefield fell silent once more. The only sounds were the crackling of the dying flames and the soft rustling of the wind. Dion stood amidst the destruction he had wrought, his expression calm and composed, as if nothing had happened.

He turned away from the smoldering remains of the goblin king, his mind already moving on to more important matters. This was nothing more than a minor inconvenience, a distraction from his true goal.

Dion began to walk away, his hands clasped behind his back once more. As he left the battlefield, the spikes that had receded into the ground slowly rose back up, sealing off the area and ensuring that no one would disturb the site again.

He had no time to waste. There were more important things to do, and his brother was waiting.
