The birds chirped.
Kalus moaned to open his heavy eyelids.
He wasn't aware that he had slept that long, that Gideon
knocked on his door twice an hour ago but he didn't hear a
thing.
He groaned, stretching his arms then flipped over
the sheets to expose his naked body and walked to the bathroom. He found
himself that he would never get used to the enchanting of
his bedroom, and bathroom and how lovely the water felt
hitting on his skin. The pressure and the warmth. It was
perfect.
After he put on his clothes and fixed everything on himself,
he strode out with his black side bag and was welcomed by the male
servant.
"Morning sir, the King said I must show you to
your office before breakfast," the male servant said.
"And where is he?"
"In the library."
Kalus walked downstairs where his office
was and he found out it was not that spacious to the way he
thought but it was big enough to fit him and Gideon
inside who was already inside preparing his desk.
"Thank you," Kalus said to the servant before
he walked out.
He bowed before him and walked out.
Kalus closed the door.
"What do you think about this kingdom?" Kalus
asked walking to his desk side. He and Gideon had never had a chance
to talk.
"Gold, it's gold," Gideon said with
an agreement gesture from his head. "It's huge, and everything
is perfect. I mean have you seen the female
servants?" he talked with the impression and mouth-watered
expression.
"Yes, but let's be careful….
We don't want to do anything now."
"Yes," Gideon agreed.
Kalus checked all the drawers from his desk and saw that
they had keys which is something he needed.
The office was mainly black and light brown with white
shiny stone floor with lots
of shelves but well placed.
The desk for Gideon was placed yesterday after they
found out that Kalus had an assistant so the Queen made sure that he
also had to have a desk of his own.
*****
Ona had always been an early bed. Most of her paintings were
from outside, but that day, she worked in her painting room with the scene of
last night replaying in her mind.
She couldn't help from not flashing a smile. It
was like she had never seen any man who was that handsome with long and thin
lashes. His profile fits her list of a man of her dreams.
Talking about the dream.
Ona had a deep thought last night before being put in
slumber. The vague man she had been having a dream about.
Kalus had been giving her the same feelings she felt in the
dream and she was sure of it that on that night, the vague
man didn't appear in her dream again.
Gosh! She got so excited thinking Kalus was the man in her
dream.
The knock on her door stopped her from drawing the
nose. She put down the charcoal pencil and walked to the
door and opened it.
"The Queen said you must eat breakfast with them,
now."
She knew that she wouldn't argue with Nia for not
going to eat breakfast. Manners. The guests were
there and not only because of the manners and guests, but
because it was Kalus. Being close to him gave her something she had never
experienced before, butterflies in her stomach.
"Give me a moment," she said, walking
back to her things. Picked up a brown damp cloth to
wipe off smudges on her hands and walked back to where Nia was waiting for
her. "Is Kalus and Gideon already by the table?"
"Yes, Kalus is already there," Nia pulled the
sarcasm, knowing Ona was not interested in knowing about Gideon.
Everything was about Kalus.
She pushed Nia with her left arm making Nia
chuckle and apologize.
When Ona appeared as they were waiting for her outside,
under the huge tree with food placed on the large and round table,
Kalus stood up, as if Ona was the Queen and not the
princess but it made the King and Queen happy seeing a man treating
Ona like his Queen.
Kalus hurriedly pulled out a chair for her and it
was right next to him.
"Good Morning," Ona greeted all of them. She
did not see her parents before she came there.
"Good Morning Ona, and what would you be
doing today?" her mother asked.
"Buried in my workshop," her painting room.
She answered.
"Will you be available in the afternoon?" the
Queen asked.
"Mmmh, yes and why?"
"I need you to go and pick up a dress for me from
the Lily's shop."
The kingdom had various shops. Just everything was in the
kingdom. The schools and everything that made the Queen and Ona never left
the Kingdom along with most of their people. They never lacked
anything.
"Yes mother," Ona said and glanced at
Nia who gave her a nod of 'Yes, I will go with you'.
Kalus would probably be working on that hour or hours.
Kalus was talking, making the Queen and King laugh from
his childhood memories.
"I would love to meet your parents one
day," the king said.
"Oh I'm sure they would love to meet you two,
and I just remembered now that I have a letter I want to send
them," he said.
"Ona will show you where to take the
letter," the Queen stared at Ona.
Gosh! She had no right to put Ona in that position.
She didn't know how long it would take her not to deny herself to be
all over Kalus. Kalus was tying her lungs with a string. The invisible red
string that was only seen by her.
Light brown eyes gave her a warm stare when taking in food to
his slim lips.
How could a man be this endearing? Her mind
reeled.
"Yes, in the afternoon?" she asked Kalus.
"Whenever you're free princess." She
thought she had seen it all but she didn't. Kalus had a dimple
when his lips stretched wide for her. The side look he gave her was everything
for her to obey to anything.
Her toes curled. Something about Kalus was
giving her, 'Yes' In every bone in her.
She took a thick swallow of her saliva and flatly said, "Okay."
Ona had to remind herself again in her mind that, you
are a princess of Calanthir Kingdom and a pure virgin. Don't be an
easy lady, and maybe Kalus has a wife back home.
Yes, what if her mind is right?
Ona should at least know a bit more about Kalus.
The breakfast took less time.
She hurriedly stood up and walked to her painting room to
continue her painting because what the heck was going on with her body. She felt
the warmth rising from her thighs.
"Princess Ona! Are you okay?" Nia was by the
door.
"Bring me called water," Ona answered.
Nia quickly came back with cold water after a few minutes filled
inside a glass long cup and strode inside.
"Oh thank you," Ona's voice sounded
like she was on the marathon. "That man making my body go against my
rule."
"I saw that, it's like he can see
through your soul and that's how I felt when I met my
husband."
Nia and Kael married when Nia turned
18 years and she has been a happy woman ever since.
Kael was a carpenter for the palace
furniture and he has done a remarkable job. Excellent one. He
and Nia told each other that they didn't want kids. It was something
both of them felt.
"But I have to know Kalus background. He might be
married or have kids in each Kingdom he worked."
"True, but how will you do his background check? I
mean, we know no one and we can't leave the
kingdom…. Just when you ask him, look straight in his eyes, and
when his lying, you would see that." Nia tried to use the
trick she used to her husband.
Ona seemed to be agreeing with what Nia had said.
****
Ona had prepared herself to go to the shops. She
just got out of her bedroom and walked down the stairs and out of the
palace.
She had found a car already waiting for her, so she hopped
in with the help of a male servant.
"You look beautiful in this yellow
dress and you smell so deli-," Kalus cleared his throat. He
flinched Ona as Ona was not expecting anyone inside.
She cleared her throat too and said, "Thank
you."
Ona had wished Kalus would finish his final words.
So she asked, "Do you have a wife and kids back
home?" she had to find the courage to ask that without blinking.
Kalus moved his hand from his
thigh which was on the other
leg to Ona's which was placed on the car seat between
their bodies. Mmmh. The butterflies again.
"No, I guess I haven't found the right woman
for me yet," his eyes pierced deeply into the dark ones.
"What do you mean yet?"
"I still don't know Princess Ona, but
you will be the first one to know."
Lord of Calanthir!
Ona's mind became so hazy. Her stomach trembled at
every touch of the man's hand. Kalus Windsorrow.
