Two years later,
Ophiscus was sitting in his study, reviewing some important documents. Once in a while he was frowning and shaking his head,
"I didn't think there were this many corrupt nobles in my continent."
KNOCK KNOCK
"Enter."
Sebastian walked into the room with a handful of documents. He placed them on Ophiscus's table and looked at Him and said, "Master, Lady Vela has finished with her purge."
"Haah! Finally, I was beginning to think every noble is either corrupt or a traitor." Ophiscus said as he exhaled in relief.
"So, what's the end result?" Ophiscus asked, looking at Sebastian.
Sebastian took one of the papers from the documents he brought and started reporting it to Ophiscus.
"Master, we have identified 35 noble families as traitors, 62 noble families were charged with large scale corruption, 84 with small scale corruption."
He then looked at the next document and was astonished by the content of the documents, but he continued,
"Lady Vela has purged all of the traitors, noble families that were in large scale corruption and the ones accused of rape charges. No one from the noble families were spared, and their bodies were crucified at the entrance of their domain with their crimes written on the walls with their blood."
After finishing his report, he looked at Ophiscus for any reaction, but was disappointed when Ophiscus did not show any sign of discomfort.
'I know that Lady Vela had done her job, but I wish she did that less gruesomely.'
"Alright, assign other noble families and new emerging families that are loyal to us to these lands. Tell some of our men to create a merit system where they climb up the ranks." ordered Ophiscus.
"What shall be the requirements, Master?" Sebastian asked, he took a notebook from his pocket and readied himself to note down what Ophiscus said.
"Martial prowess, the governance of their lands, improvement in the quality of life in general and increase in the average cultivation rank of the population in general."
"Yes, master." Sebastian nodded while scribbling down every point Ophiscuc had mentioned.
"And order Vela to return home, she had played outside long enough, she hadn't even seen her nephew."
"Yes, master." Sebastian left to message Vela to return home.
Ophiscus then continued on with his work. After a few hours, he got up and stretched his muscles.
He then looked at his family painting hanging on the wall. Unknowingly a sweet smile protruded on his lips.
'Ah! I want to see them' thought Ophiscus as he looked at the clock on the wall..
"It's one in the afternoon, guess I will go see them." he muttered as he started walking to his chambers.
He walked through the corridors, each one emptier than the last, with fewer and fewer servants.
By the time he reached his chambers there was no one except him, he then opened the door to his chambers and then walked through some more corridors.
He finally reached the door connecting to the dimension,
He stretched his hand towards the door and poured some mana into it.
When his mana touched the door, the magic circles on the door lit up in bright blue color.
CLICK
The door opened and Ophiscus entered.
"I'll kill you!."
The moment he entered he heard Aquila giving death threats to Gaia.
'Ah! What did I expect?' Ophiscus thought while smiling wryly.
From the first day Aquila and Gaia never got along with each other. They continuously bickered with each other over petty things, like right now.
"Hah! You can try." Gaia retorted while smirking.
She knew Aquilla couldn't do anything to her and didn't mean her words.
They both sensed Ophiscus coming and looked at him and asked simultaneously, "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing." Ophiscus answered, raising his hands in surrender. He didn't want to step on a landmine.
He looked to his right to see his daughter Lyra holding William; she looked at him and smiled wryly.
William however was having the time of his life, his favorite pastime is to watch his Mother Aquilla and Gaia bicker with each other.
William, who was enjoying the show, looked at Ophiscus and raised his arms and said, "Papa!"
Ophiscus smiled brightly, he walked over to him and took him from Lyra,
"Who's my little champ?" asked Ophiscus as he raised William into the air.
"Hehehe" giggled Wiilliam in response.
They both played for a while. Ophiscus then looked at his daughter and asked "Where's Orion?"
'I've been working a lot lately and i couldn't spend time with my children.' Ophiscus lamented.
He wanted to spend time with his children but couldn't get a chance due to the purge but now that it was over, he could.
Lyra at her father's question chuckled nervously,
"Haha, father, you see, the thing is-" Lyra nervously began to answer her father, trying to come up with a cover story but William interjected.
"Big brother went to play with big sisters Mia and Ava." he said enthusiastically.
'AHHH! William!' Lyra screamed internally in frustration.
"Hmmm, are they your personal maids?" Asked Ophiscus.
"Yes father." answered Lyra.
"Tell Orion to come visit me in my office, and bring those two girls with you." ordered Ophiscus.
'Although they are good girls, I just have to make sure.'
"Ah! Right, I forgot to tell you, your aunt Vela is coming home." said Ophiscus.
At the mention of Vela, Lyra's face turned ecstatic. She looked at her and asked, "Really?"
Ophiscus chuckled at his daughter's reaction, he knew how much his daughter loved her aunt, "Yes, really."
Lyra's smile bloomed after Ophiscus confirmed Vela's return.
BEEP BEEP BEEP
A beeping sound was heard coming from Ophiscus's pocket, not just from him, it was also coming from Gaia, who was still bickering with Aquilla.
Both of them frowned at this.
'What happened?' Gaia questioned herself.
She took the device from her pocket and inspected it. The moment she did, her expression turned solemn.
She looked at Ophiscus, and sure Ophiscus had the same solemn look on his face. They both looked at each other and understood something must have happened.
"Who called?" asked Ophiscus
"Amaris." answered Gaia.
Ophiscus was a little astonished hearing this.
'Something must've gone terribly wrong. He wouldn't call us if it's not important.' Thought Ophiscus.
Ophiscus handed over William to Lyra and walked over to Gaia.
Aquila, who by now understood that something must've happened for her husband and the world's will to look this seriously, she looked at her husband and warned him, "Be careful."
Ophiscus nodded at her and both him and Gaia teleported.
