'I have to escape!'
'I have to escape!'
'I have to escape!'
The Rexadurus looked at Mark with a certain softness, observing him. It must be surprising and confusing for it likely hadn't spotted anything in the vein of Mark's appearance, a well proportioned face, slightly hairy legs and arms and slender limbs, these features were alien to it.
It roared once more, turning its head. Mark noticed this and picked the pace of his backstepping, quickly turning around and jumping on the tree behind him, in which he climbed frantically, reaching a branch up.
His face was squeezed from the pain his fingers received, nails were broken and his fingertips bled.
However there was no time to look them up, neither was he in the position to do so.
[Rexadurus]
Mark squinted his eyes on it, and an extra tab came beneath its name.
[Rexadurus: Large beasts of either the color black or white. Their mouth is crowned with powerful large teeth that can break through even steel if they are bent on it. They are creatures of the forest, and their lithe, long body makes them great climbers]
'Huh, is that all? No weaknesses, no things to do if you ever spot one?'
'And great climbers?! I'm cooked.'
The beast snarled, its front legs rested on the tree's stem and it raised its eyes to Mark, it then withdrew its legs and began circling the tree.
'Oh, I don't have any luck, I never did.' Mark whimpered, his body shaking and tense from fear.
The Rexadurus roared once more, startling Mark.
It took some steps back, and Mark hoped it would go back into the bushes and trees, and let him be, but unfortunately, it bounced back and jumped on a branch, fixing in its claws.
Mark let out a yelp, he would be toast should it reach him.
Out of panic, he threw his lower body below and struck the beast with his two legs pushing it back down.
It cried as the blunt blow met with its head.
Mark pulled himself back up.
Ding*
He would recognize that sound anywhere now.
[New Quest: A fearsome beast at hand]
[You're in a dangerously close proximity with a Rexadurus.]
[Objective: Kill the vicious Rexadurus and obtain its loot]
[Reward: +3 strength]
The system notification almost made Mark mad, he would be mad if not for his terrible predicament.
'How am I supposed to kill a creature larger and fiercer than I am? It doesn't work that way.'
His eyes met the green silted eyes of the beast and it let out a roar in response, causing Mark to avert his in fear.
'What to do? What to do?'
It was only a matter of little time before the beast would burst forth and attack again, Mark wasn't sure of possibly stopping it if it did so again.
It circled the man like a vulture circles its dying victim. Snarling and exposing its large fangs as a means to intimidate and trip off Mark.
'The whiff of the Silverine whatever spider should have made me unattractive to it, that's what the message said. Has it worn out? Has it been over twelve hours already?'
In the middle of his panicked thoughts, an important detail drifted to his mind, one that might save him.
'Inventory!' His face stretched as a sense of hope leaked into him.
He focused his mind's eye and looked inward.
Race: Human
Title: Otherworlder, The Goddess's Vestige.
[Ability] [Skills]
[Affinity] [Stats]
[Quest]. [Inventory]
His eyes darted around the blue screen that materialized in his mind.
"Inventory!" He called out loud. The Rexadurus knew that something was amiss, so it took steps back and observed. Its' prey didn't seem as afraid any longer, and being a master of the hunt, it understood that it was a bad sign.
[Inventory]
The tab expanded, displaying a large span of new information. Items were displayed, contained in blocks.
There were six items contained in the inventory.
Mark's eyes darted around them.
The first was…
[Silverine Fanged Spider's blood x 2 cups]
Mark squinted his eyes, a little disgusted at what he had just read, but what use was the Silverine Fanged Spider blood now?
Beneath the tab was another smaller tab, and it read.
[Effect: None]
He clicked his tongue and moved to the next. The Rexadurus noticed his look of distress, his confidence had sunk and this was its opportunity, and it leapt forward roaring and cementing its fearful presence once more.
He needed something useful, and soon.
He went to the next.
An icon of red eyes was in the tab and Mark knew exactly what it was.
'Its eyes'
[Silverine Fanged Spider eyes x 4]
[Effect: None]
The beast struck its paws on the tree, and began to climb.
Mark swallowed, it must be a master of the forest with the paths imprinted on its brain, Mark was a stranger to the forest, and the beast was no doubt fast, there was no way he could outrun it. His trusty stick lay by a tree a few meters away where he had laid, and there was nothing he could fight back with.
He moved on to the next.
[Silverine Fanged Spider legs x 8]
[Effect: None]
Mark remembered its legs being very hard and pointy, and an idea clicked in his head.
Someone is about to get stabbed, and it wasn't going to be him.
He focused some more on the effect tab and a new command surfaced.
[Do you want to withdraw this]
[Yes/No]
"Yes." He said with haste.
[How many do you wish to withdraw? Issue command with voice]
The Rexadurus was just a few inches away from Mark and it suddenly lept at him, baring its fangs.
"All!"
