The next day, it was finally Monday.
Sister Rebecca was at the dinning hall along with the orphanage children.
"Good Morning Everyone!"
""GOOD MORNING SISTER REBECCA!!""
After sister Rebecca greeted the children, they also answered back to her.
" Today as you all know is monday, and today we have an announcement, all children that are already and is becoming six years old this year will be able to join the assessment in the school!"
"Yaayy!!"
"Yes! I want to be a swordsman and kill all the bad guys!"
"Ehh??! Why Cant 5 years old join?! I want to join too!"
After what sister Rebecca said, the children was happy and was clamoring all over the dinning hall.
Eiji also realized that he didn't have to go to the director's office yesterday as they would announce it in the morning.
Eiji couldn't help but scratch his head at this, so he hung his head down.
Sister Rebecca saw this but just smiled.
" Alright! Alright settle down now! For those that can't join for this year, you can still join the next years that will be coming, okay?!
Okay! now everyone continue your breakfast and for those that wants to join the assessment, we will meet at the front field after the meal okay?!"
""Okay!! Thank You Sister Rebecca!!""
After the announcement sister Rebecca left, then the children continued to talk and eat.
Those that were eligible were excited while those that still cant join were a bit disappointed but knew that they can apply when they come to the age of six.
After eating his breakfast, Eiji went back to his room, it was a huge room but it was shared by more than twenty children.
But it still have enough space to be able to run around, though they were told not to.
Eiji changed his clothes and then walked towards the open field at the entrance.
When he arrived, there were already ten children in there with excited faces. And with Eiji joining they were now eleven.
" Hmm..it seems that all that are eligible for the assessment is here! Alright now children, we will now go to the school!"
""Okay sister Rebecca!""
All the children respected and liked sister Rebecca as she was patient and caring to all of them.
It was said that, sister Rebecca had a husband and child, but was killed in the war.
Because she missed them dearly, she looked for a job in various cities in the kingdom and saw the bad situations that most orphans and their orphanage have.
So she decided to become a volunteer and helped raise the children, until she became a director because of the efforts she put in taking care of the kids.
As the capital city of the Masamune Kingdom, Hurricane City is huge. It is the most populated city in the kingdom.
The school was a bit more than half an hour from the orphanage, so It took quite a while.
The enthusiastic kids were slowly getting tired of the constant walking.
The only means of transportation in this world were horse and other types of mounts.
And the orphanage can't afford to have it's own carriage and it doesn't really take that much of a time walking.
When they arrived at the school there were already a lot of people.
There were some that were dressed fancy, some were just curious, and some like them were from other orphanage, and some unfortunate people hoping for their children to pass the assessment.
They went forward and lined up to register their names.
This time, the kids energy were back and are looking back and forth and continuously talking.
"Wooahh! The school is huge!"
"Yeah! They said that they can fit here more than a thousand people!"
"What are you talking about?! There are more than a thousand people here every day!"
"Really?! Awesome!"
"And I also heard that you can actually have your own room here if you are accepted! You can live on your own!"
"Wow! Really?! But isn't it hard living on your own?!"
"Well I don't know?"
When Eiji heard that you can have your own room here, he actually wanted to live alone then. He knew that there were way too many children at the orphanage, and if he can take care on his own, then he'll just do so and reduce the burden of the kind hearted sister Rebecca.
As the children were talking, it was finally their time to register.
It was just a simple registration, you just tell them your name, age and where you are from.
Then you can proceed to the assessment in the training grounds.
The training grounds was situated at the back of the school. Led by one of the Swordsmen teacher, they arrived at a huge open area with arena, wooden swords at huge racks and stck dummies for practice.
There are three assessment test that are conducted.
The first one is to see if you have already opened your ki pathways or can be opened now.
They have to put their hands in a crystal ball and if it lights up it means that you have already opened your ki pathways.
It it is a dim light, it means that you have ki on you body, but still haven't opened your ki pathways.
This was a matter of talent and luck. As ki can be accumulated over time, and with enough nutrition and practice everyone can actually have ki in their bodies.
But having able to open you ki pathways on your own also shows your talent which was what the school was looking for.
"Can be opened!"
"Fail!"
"Fail!"
"Fail!
"Can be opened!"
"Fail!"
"Fail!"
It was a series of fails as the first test was conducted. Those that have ki in their bodies and can be opened were assisted by one of the teachers at the side as they help them open up their ki pathways.
Eiji's turn came.
"Alright just like what you saw from the person ahead of you, just put your palms in the crystal."
"Okay."
Eiji put his palms in the crystal and a small dim light lit up.
"Can Be opened!"
"Alright go to the side and that teacher will help you open you ki pathways okay?!"
"Okay thank you!"
Eiji wasn't disappointed that he wasn't one of those geniuses that have already opened their ki pathways.
For him, just passing is enough, now he can think about what he needs to do from now onwards if he is able to pass the remaining tests in the assessment.
End Of Chapter.
