Countless roots emerged from the ground after the energy waves were absorbed by the forest. Although only a few of them were as large as the roots surrounding the woman.
Majority of the roots were thin and small. But their power was not to be underestimated. The roots were full of tiny spikes which were covered in a very potent venom.
The venom was strong enough to kill an E or D grade fighter quite easily. This wasn't all though, when Myles looked around him he spotted a lot more worrying things.
The vines of the tree had grown longer and thicker. Although they lacked any attacking potential, their sheer thickness was enough to make it very difficult to slice or break them!!
"The vines can work perfectly as chains to restrain someone" Myles thought to himself, worry was clearly visible in his face.
This wasn't all though, the flower, branches and even leaves were mutating. Though, Myles didn't know what role they would play when the roots started to strike. He knew for certain that it would be anything but good.
"I need to take down the woman!!" Myles remarked.
He took out the sword from the ground, knowing that the danger had passed. He prepared to charge towards the woman knowing that she was the root of all their problems.
Just as he was about to charge, a voice resounded through his ears.
"Commander, be careful! The forest has turned up on us, the roots and various other plants are attacking us!!!" Commander Hector shouted, his voice carrying seriousness.
Upon hearing this, Myles quickly scanned his surroundings. It didn't take longer for a frown to form on his forehead.
The roots were mercilessly attacking the members of the union. Not only that, the vines were assisting in taking down strong foe by restraining them. Hence, making them an easy target for roots.
He had also noticed flowers releasing something in the surrounding area. He was certain that it was venom or something!
All of sudden, he heard the sound of numerus explosions from a distance. He looked at the source and his face immediately turned grim.
"Shit!" Myles cursed.
Black smoke was rising from various locations situated a few kilometers away. The sound of explosion was still resounding throughout the forest, causing everyone 's faces to turn grim.
The reason? It was because they were probably the location of the gunners of the union! Although they didn't know their exact cords, they were certain they were there. Since the gunners had ceased providing support to them after the explosion.
Which was more than enough evidence for the members of unions! This dealt a serious blow to the morale of the troops.
"We have lost our long range support! What should we do?!"
"Just keep trying your best to destroy these annoying plants!"
"And what about the mages! After their leader made a move, they are attacking even more aggressively than ever!!!"
The moral of the mages had gone up by another notch after the display of strength of their leader. Although, they had suffered serious casualties from the shockwave prior.
It was like it didn't have any effect on them in the first place! As they were aggressively attacking the union.
They hadn't started to attack Myles yet. Maybe it was because of his display of might or something else. Mylyes didn't know.
He was getting ready to move but all of a sudden the aura of the woman began to grow at an incredible speed.
The green glow around her was rapidly increasing. Magic circles were forming besides her, giving Myles the impression she was about to do something big.
"The woman is getting serious!" Myles mumbled as he stared at the woman.
Sadly, he didn't have the time to observe this for long. A voice resounded through his ears.
"Sir, look around you!!" A random soldier shouted.
Upon hearing this he quickly looked around him. A curse escaped from his mouth due to what he saw!
"Fuck!" Myles cursed as he scanned the incoming roots
He saw hundreds of roots of different sizes charging towards him at an incredible speed.
Majority of their roots were very thin, making it easy to slice them in half. However, the roots weren't all though. He saw dozens of thick vines charging towards him from all directions at an incredible speed!!
There were the ones who possessed a threat to him! Although their numbers were much lower than the roots, they were faster and a lot thicker than the roots!!
Their thickness and speed made it difficult for Myles to slice them! It didn't help that there were dozens of vines and hundreds of roots after him!
If he tried to slice the vines then, the chances were that roots would seriously injure him. It was even possible for other vines to wrap around him, hence immobilizing him.
It was safe to say that he couldn't slice them all without getting injured. He fell in deep thought as he pondered what to do!
Just a second later, he made a realization.
"Who says that I have to slice them in half, I can easily dodge them using my speed! I doubt that they can catch up!" Myles realized.
If trying to slice them all was risky then why not try to avoid them all together. He was confident that the roots and vines won't be able to catch up to them!!
"I just need to get past them" Myles thought to himself.
Since he was surrounded by vines and roots. He had to confront one of them to escape! It was obvious who he would confront.
He took a deep breath and charged towards the roots as fast as he could, outrunning the vine by a large margin!
The vines couldn't keep up no matter how much he tried. Steadily, the distance between them was increasing causing Myle's to grin.
The grin didn't last for long though.
"I need to take care of the roots" Myles's thought to himself.
He was charging towards hundreds of roots, so it was given that he needed to slice them to survive. He tightly gripped his sword and continued to charge forward.
