A calming aura was released from his sword, it seemed to calm down his soul itself. The sword also released a sense of belonging, almost as if giving him the feeling that he was holding the hands of a friend himself.
The sense of loneliness disappeared from his shoulder like a lie. At this moment, he realized that he would never be truly alone. Since even if the entire world turns up on him, his sword will always by his sight.
"So is it right for me to treat my sword like a cold lifeless metallic object?" Myles questioned himself.
As he was thinking the answer to this question, a powerful yet authoritative voice resounded through his ears!
"Aldrich, you heard the commands from the HQ move forward as quickly as you can!! We will provide cover for you!" The commander of the Red Hawks said as she tried her best to move towards Myles's side.
Sadly the roots had no intention of making it so easy for her. However, her message got through Myles' skull since he snapped out!
When he finally snapped out, he saw that the entire face of the battlefield had changed. The B-grade fighters who were previously charging towards the woman like their life depended on it had changed their course.
Instead of charging towards her, they were trying their best to get close to him. Some even collaborated to get close to him!!
The woman was not obvious about these changes. She averted her attention towards the source of this change.
Her eyes bore resemblance to that of an emerald met Myles's eyes. A sense of fear and destruction descended down upon him.
He felt like a prey being eyed by a predator. He quickly suppressed all his emotions with great difficulty, hence getting rid of all his fears.
Since he didn't get rid of his fears, how would he kill her in the first place? The calming aura from the sword helped a lot
"You are thinking of doing something aren't you?" The woman asked, her voice carrying a sense of doom.
He did manage to suppress all his fears with great difficulty but that didn't mean he was immune to her. He felt like a formidable foe was standing in front of him.
Although, he was confident in winning. It didn't mean that the upcoming battle was going to be easy.
He was certainly going to suffer from serious loss. Tens of thousands of troops might be killed very soon or he might also lose. It wasn't any impossible possibility.
Nonetheless, now wasn't the time to think about this. His task was to kill the woman so he began to think how he could do just that!
A few seconds later, he made a risky decision.
"I will move in a straight line since that would allow me to reach her as soon as possible!" Myles thought to himself
Moving in a straight line would allow him to reach her as quickly as possible. But it was very risky. Since he would be moving in a straight line, it will make him a much easier target!!
"Ensuring that I managed to reach her safely is the duty of the others" Myles thought to himself.
Erick didn't say it directly but from the way he spoke. It couldn't be more obvious. Hence, despite the risk he chose to proceed with this plan!
He stopped moving in a zigzag instead he began to move in a straight line. He moved as quickly as possible, pushing his legs to the limits! He ignored all the pain.
Seeing this, the woman all of a sudden got a sense of urgency.
"I will not allow you to succeed in whatever you wish to do! Oh the spirit of the forest kills whom I deem as my enemy!!" The woman shouted as his aura started to spike up.
The moment this happened, dozens of magic circles formed around her. When Myles took a closer look at his horror, they were all directed towards him!!!
This wasn't even all, the entire forest seemed to start shaking just a second later. Hundreds of roots sputter from the ground, charging towards Myles just a second later.
The large roots, branches of the tree and much more also charged her. It was as if the entire forest had to her will!
The entire Forest had turned hostile to them! Even a single piece of small grass in the ground was their enemy! There was almost no safe place remaining in the forest!
Almost every single plant life was charging towards him but he didn't panic in the least.
The mages were also casting as much as spells towards him. Sadly for them, it was almost impossible for them to land a hit on him while he was moving at his full speed!
In mere seconds, they had been rendered to complete bystanders.
It was obvious that the B-grade fighters and Sage Hazel would decide the outcome of this battle!
Despite the overwhelming odds, Myles didn't panic in the least. He continued to move in a straight line knowing that the others would cover him.
Just a few seconds later, two B-grade fighters with an aura even stronger than him appeared in front of him. They took care of 2 large roots each. Since 8 large roots were charging towards altogether, this reduced his pressure on him by half!!
They started to mercilessly slash different parts of the large roots, inflicting serious damage to the large roots.
It wasn't enough to destroy them but it was more than enough to stall which was all that he could ask for!
Slowly but surely, more B-grade fighters began to appear. They prioritize first neutralizing the large roots!
"The large roots are the only things that I can't deal with. As for the other mutated plant life, I am confident that I can take care of them" Myles's thought to himself
The other B-grade grade fighter seemed to have the same thoughts as him. A total of 5 of them had gathered including the commander of the red hawks. Together, they successfully managed to stall the advancement of large roots even before he was within their reach.
But there was bad news. The other B-grade swordsmen were stalled by the army of mages and the roots. Sage Hazel hadn't neglected them, she didn't do anything to stop their advancement.
What did this mean? It meant that it was unlikely for him to receive more help from them!
He looked in front of him and saw that a large swarm of smaller roots were ahead of him. Standing between him and the sword pavilion.
He knew that he had to probably take care of them on his own.
"I shall take care of all of you on my own!" Myles roared as he tightly gripped his sword.
He charged forward, moving at an incredible speed. When he entered the territory of the roots, he began to cut any roots that stood in his way, like cutting vegetables!
The roots were countless
"It would have been good if the gunners were still alive" Myles mumbled, his voice carrying seriousness.
The gunners had stopped providing support after the emergence of more large roots.
Although Erick hadn't mentioned anything about them. Everyone was certain that they had all perished or more too busy saving their life.
Nonetheless, Myles continued to slash one root after another. He didn't have to slow down in the least because of his reaction speed.
His reaction speed was incredibly balanced due to the golden aura being constantly released from his sword!
Moreover, as the sword released more and more of this aura. His sense of companionship with it increased, causing him to think about the question that he had neglected for a while.
"Is it right for me to treat my sword like a cold lifeless metallic object?" Myles thought, as he fell in deep thought.
He didn't answer immediately. Since he wanted to find an answer from the bottom of his heart, he decided to take his thought.
It didn't take long for him to find an answer from the bottom of his heart.
"A sword is a partner of the swordship. A sword is a part of the swordsman itself. A sword deserves to be treated with respect!" Myles thought to himself.
It wasn't the end though, now that he had answered all the three questions from the bottom of his heart. He wanted to know the essence of swordsmanship.
He began to utter three words in his mind to grasp the essence of swordsmanship, itself! The words were disciple, aegis and companionship.
He pondered it for a few seconds before making a realization.
"A sword is the extension of my body and soul!! Due to the sword being an extension, we can remain so disciplined and powerful!!" Myles made a realization.
Myles made a profound realization. He had understood the essence of the sword itself! He had finally made a breakthrough!
At this moment, his aura was going through a profound and drastic transformation. A transformation which would change the tide of this battle!
